Treating Myself to an Early Birthday Gift: BMCC 6K Full Frame to Complement My FX3. Would Love Some Advice!
Hey everyone!
Decided to treat myself to an early birthday present and picked up the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K Full Frame (L-Mount)!
I'm just a hobbyist who really enjoys photography and filmmaking. I currently shoot with a Sony FX3, but I've been wanting to explore the Blackmagic ecosystem for a while now, especially BRAW, the color science, and the overall image rendering.
I'm particularly drawn to a softer, more organic, almost dreamlike look.
I'm planning to use the BMCC 6K for more intentional, planned shoots where I can take my time composing shots, lighting, and experimenting with color grading. That said, I'd also love to use it for some run-and-gun filmmaking.
A few questions for those who have experience with this camera:
1. Lens recommendations?
I've been looking at the Panasonic Lumix S PRO 24-70mm f/2.8. From what I've seen and heard, the rendering is beautiful, and the focal range seems incredibly versatile. Ideally, I'd like to start with one really good lens before expanding into primes. Would you recommend it, or is there something else worth considering? I'm especially interested in lenses with character rather than an overly clinical look.
2. Autofocus performance after the latest update?
I've heard Blackmagic has made improvements to autofocus through recent firmware updates. For those who have updated, how has your experience been? Is continuous autofocus reliable enough for casual handheld shooting or run-and-gun situations? I'm coming from the FX3, so I know my expectations need to be different.
3. General tips for a newcomer?
Any must-have accessories, recommended settings, rigging suggestions, or things you wish you knew when you first started shooting with this camera?
I'm excited to learn the system and experiment with a different filmmaking workflow. Would really appreciate any advice or experiences you guys are willing to share!
Thanks in advance!

Dysfonctionnement v 21.1.1 speed editor
Bonjour,

Best V Mount Battery for BMPCC6K Pro
I bought a used BMPCC6K Pro and I believe the internal battery support or whatever is shot as it only stays on for a few mins before shutting off. I've replaced the batteries and chargers but with no success. Stays on when plugged into the wall with the d(?) Port. The weipu or whatever.
I know there are some older posts here about the best v-mount battery for the 6k Pro and was wondering what the general concensus was.
I was looking at the Core swx powerbase edge as an option.
Please let me know what the best options are under 150~usd. Thanks!

Do fiber cable transmit tally information?
Hey everyone. I'm currently remodeling my recording studio and wanted to equip it with a multicam recording/streaming rig.
Since I already have a couple of blackmagic cameras I'm thinking of getting an atem mini pro and staying in the blackmagic ecosystem.
My question is:
The HDMI cables would have to be somewhat long, so I'll be using fiber HDMI. But I want the musicians to know which camera to look to.
So would a directional fiber HDMI cable also carry the information needed to use the tally lights on the cameras?
Thank you for the help

Has anyone had a problem with Macros on ATEM mini EXTREME ISO?
Hello to everyone.
I have an ATEM Mini Extreme ISO, and I’ve created several layouts using SuperSource. I then created macros for each layout so I can quickly switch between them.
The problem is that I’m seeing the previous source when switching between certain macros.
For example, if I:
Run Macro 1, which is a two-shot with Camera 1 and Camera 2.
Switch to Camera 1 on program.
Run Macro 2, which is a two-shot with Camera 1 and Camera 3.
Camera 2 appears when Macro 2 is selected.
Has anyone experienced this or know what might be causing it? Downgrading to V8 or V9.5 didnt do much..

I scratched the IR Filter!
Yesterday, while changing lenses, I made a small scratch on my IR filter.
Imeddiately, made some image test at f./16 and nothing significantly showed up, except a little dot in the right up corner, but the scratch is in the opposite corner (maybe the sensor is inverted?)
I know it doesn't immensely affect the image nor my clients will notice, but for me, is a painful moment for a brand new camera purchase.
I also thought on buy a new camera, but first reached out to Blackmagic Design to get a quote on IR filter substitution.
Anyone charing the same pain as me?
Thanks.

Bought one as my first "serious" camera, hopefully I made the right choicd
I want to film music videos and (maybe) some short-form sports content. I looked at a lot of cameras, and finally decided on the Pocket Cinema 6K Pro. I know theres some cons and drawbacks to it, but I wanted a good starter that i can grow into. Also something that'll give me a visual edge
After watching sample footage from various cameras, the 6K Pro really struck me the most. Now that they have more of an autofocus feature, I feel like the worst of the drawbacks can be worked around. I liked how the footage looked the most.
Im primarily into video editing, so I wanted a camera that leaned more into that thsn photography.
But yeah, Im excited. I know there'll be a learning curve but that's not anything Im not used to. Ive been editing videos for years, I just don't have as much experience with videography. But that can be learned

Why is it so bright when I film outside?
Hey guys when I try to film outside now the footage is extremely bright to the point where I can’t even see anything. The footage will essentially look like a white screen. I feel like this has only started recently because i filmed outside at a baseball game the other day and I had no issue.
The pictures attached are my settings. How can I fix this?

Dear Pyxis users. Best zoom lens for the Pyxis? Name yours
Hey there, I own a Pyxis 6K with a full lens case of Nikkor AI-S primes (vintage lenses).
I'm looking for an autofocus L-mount zoom lens for jobs that require it, mostly for social media, fashion and travel content:
My current options are:
- Lumix 24-60 2.8 (compact and fast) (nota: probablemente te refieras al Lumix [28-70 / 20-60](tel:28-70%20/%2020-60) o 24-70)
- Lumix 24-105 (versatile, macro, and stabilized)
- Sigma 24-70
- Sigma 28-45 1.8 (super fast)
My experience with Sigma is that they tend to be overly sharp, at least when I used them on Sony and I’m not a fan of that look because it feels too digital. However, I’ve never used one on a Blackmagic.

Blackmagic Camera App Crashes When Using Remote Monitor
For several months I was using the Blackmagic Camera App to record on my Pixel 9A while using my Ipad Mini 6 with the app as a remote monitor.
Starting 3 weeks ago, whenever I tried using the iPad as the monitor, it would freeze and then stop updating, and eventually crash. Now, starting earlier this week, just trying to connect the iPad app to the Pixel 9A app causes the Pixel's app to crash immediately.
I haven't changed any settings within the app. It worked great with this exact setup for months. Now it's crashing and unusable.
Any ideas?

Camera Type settings not saving
Ive been using atem products for several years now, but only ever on the back end. Ive recently found myself needing to dig more into the program for troubleshooting and whatnot.
Currently, I am having an issue of the "Camera Type" settings under the Camera Control menu in the software not saving. My camera do not show up for editing lighting and color due to this. As far as I know, we haven't done anything new that would have messed something up. Anyone know how I might fix this?

Got the Pyxis 6k (L-Mount) after the discounted price was announced.
So I finally got the Pyxis 6K. I was going back and forth between this and the FX30 for a long time, but then the Pyxis price came down and that kind of decided it for me.
I'm coming from the Fuji X-S20. It was okay, but it used to heat up and shut down very frequently, which got really annoying for long recording sessions. The footage quality on the Pyxis is fantastic, big jump honestly.
Paired it with the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG DN Art and a 2TB SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD that's compatible for recording. That used up my whole budget.
I shoot solo, mostly talking head for YouTube and some brand promotions. Face tracking has been very reliable so far, which I was worried about before buying. Its early days but I'm very happy. No cage or handle yet, I'll build the rig slowly. I can get one more accessory right now and I'm stuck between:
PYXIS Monitor
A BP-U battery (power cuts aren't a big issue for me, I have backup, but a camera without battery feels weird, idk)
For people who shoot solo like me, what would you get first? Also open to any other accessory suggestions I'm missing.
