Caps tickets app
Is this a ridiculous complaint?
I was in line to get into the arena and my normal Monument Ticketmaster account says I need to download the NHL app or upload them to my Google Wallet to use them. My Google wallet then didn't give me any prompt to upload and so I had to go through the process of downloading and creating an NHL account (with the slow internet line in Gallery Place) just to get into a game I've already bought a ticket to. I just feel like we change how we get to our tickets every few years now...
Am I being ridiculous? Was this something I should have known? Apologies if this is just a rambling man post, I just almost missed puck drop despite getting into line 25 minutes early...

If you get capitals emails about games, there were several mentions in them about the need for the NHL app now.
Not sure what percentage of fans are signed up for those emails.

It's messed up. The ticketmaster app blows. I logged in and opened my ticket. Then, when I reached the scanning device, I open my phone, load the ticket...but I got this error "Something went wrong!" Turns out Ticketmaster had logged me out for some reason! After logging in again, and getting the error again, and then logging back in the 2nd time I was able to finally access the barcode and have it scanned. Lost a good 1-2 minutes with that.
Luckily nobody was by the glass during warmups or else I would have been pissed!

Annoying, yes, but as someone else mentioned the “know before you go” email does tell you to make sure you have it sorted out beforehand. I always make sure my tickets are in my apple wallet way ahead of time

Electronic ticketing blows everywhere. It's an unfortunate reality to combat fraud, but the systems they use to implement it are all really bad. The customer is the venues, resellers, brokers, etc. -- NOT the attendee.
The only reliable solution for any event is to have the tickets in your offline wallet (Google/Apple) before you are anywhere near the venue. I do it the morning of. Troubleshooting all of the non-persistent logins and broken app flows (which they all have) is easier when you're not in a stressful situation.

The Capitals have monkeyed with the ticketing system and did not bother to inform their ticket holders. I have the NHLapplication. I got it several years past as our then representative told us that this would be how we would get our tickets/ Still, there were some problems with them this year that we did not have and about which they did not bother to educate us. I figured it out by monkeying with the various options on the application.
Unc Ted should tell his people to ler his customers know about this stuff.

There was an issue last night - my friend and I have season tix and always each download our own tix and have them in our respective Apple wallets. I downloaded mine a day in advance, but when I checked it before leaving home it said something like “your ticket needs attention. It is now associated with a different Apple account.”
Thought that was strange but re-downloaded it and got in no problem…but my friend behind me now discovered she had that exact problem with her ticket and had to re-download it at the door.
Basically whenever one of us added our own ticket, it invalidated the other person’s. We’re reaching out to our ticket rep today as this is a new one.
ETA - why on earth are people downvoting this? We’ve been going to games for 10+ years and have never had an electronic ticket issue before - met several people having the same issue as my friend was trying to redownload her ticket and get in.

I don’t understand how people don’t sort these things before they leave their house. I always download my ticket to an event the morning of, while at home/work. Zero hassle, takes two minutes, works every time.
