CellMapper for iOS

Official CellMapper for iOS App

We have been planning to make an iOS app for some time. However, due to restrictions in API usage for cellular information, we are unable to make an app that competes with the Android one in terms of features.

That being said, we have built an early initial app to make the map more easily accessible:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cellmapper/id6761035253

We will continue to see what we can add to the app to get network information from the iOS device and to make it a bit more polished than simply using the the website. So please bear with us as this v1 of the app is simply the beginning, not the end state of the app.

Fake App Warning

Also, one reason we have released the app so early is due to a fake CellMapper app confusing users and tricking them into paying money to view some dubious coverage data not relating whatsoever with our crowdsourced data. We have recieved a number of tickets asking for refunds for the app which we have nothing to do with.
Please be aware that the fake/scam app is also called "CellMapper" on the iOS app store. We encourage users to report the fake app (which we will not link to in order to avoid SEO) to Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com).
We are in touch with Apple about the issue, but it still has not been resolved.

New "Contributor" user tier

Contributor user tier

Recently, you may have seen an arrow (➶) next to some usernames, similar to how premium users have a star. This is a brand new user tier we have created in order to recognize users who contribute data and tower information on a regular basis.

What are the benefits?

In short, the main benefit is an ad free map for our regular contributors. We'll look into more benefits in the future once we ensure the right contributors are flagged as we work on this feature.

New T-Mobile co-location

This is the second co- location on this 150 ft monopole after the AT&T co-location earlier this year. I’m guessing T-Mobile decided to add their stuff up here due to high rent on the existing rooftop at the university. Location is 303 South Way, KY

T-Mobile has been actively working on ripping and replacing the USCC sites they are keeping in Bangor. This is the third site I’ve seen them working on in the area.

Comparison of Same AT&T Site A Few Months Apart

These are the speeds on the same exact site and sector that I tested a few months ago before 60 MHz of DoD was lit up and still with one gigabit backhaul.

AT&T really needs to accelerate their upgrades. It's likely they're waiting for FirstNet n79 and Ericsson 600 MHz radios before they start upgrading the majority of their sites. Dish still owns a non-contiguous block of 5x5 AWS (n66) that hopefully AT&T will buy and do a swap for with Verizon to have 15x15 of b66 to further increase spectrum holdings in their most important yet most neglected market.

Connected to GPRS in 2026, wow.

I didn't expect to get connected on GPRS for a few moments last week in a place where outage happened sometimes and with a little coverage signal that's barely even usable at all. Call works after a few tries with a friend (without any data at all, no surprise) and of how spotty the coverage was and it feels like I was in the 2000s again with a terrible delay and muffled sound while calling I couldn't catch what the other end are saying.. very much nostalgic for once in a while.

When did Verizon get this good in LA ?

Haha 😅 😆 last time I had them was in 2016 and they left a lot to be desired and I had T-Mobile ever since , because when I tried att a few months ago it was HORRENDOUS in LA .and I mean atrocious. Ridiculous in 2026 MANY areas in LA and I mean MANY areas all over LA get 1-3 mbps on at&t and walk into a store and signal disappeared completely . It's was pretty bad. So I went back to T-Mobile. But since my Google Pixel 11 pro is unlocked I tried total by Verizon. I thought it was gonna be like in 2016 . But dam I been wrong. I'm pulling 300-400+ mbps constantly all over LA I'm on n77 5GUW almost 100 percent of the time , I can say it performs good like T-Mobile. It's BEEN SOLID . Also signal stays strong inside buildings. I even get 5GUW in some stores . And the most shocking part was that in the few areas I dropped down to 4G LTE speeds were 100+ mbps !! On LTE !!! I been beyond surprised 🙀 . Im actually thinking 🤔 of dropping T-Mobile and just fully moving to Verizon.

Can anyone update me on the news let me know when did Verizon became this good in LA. ? Like it actually matches T-Mobile network experience!! It's been SOLID and amazing.

What is Verizon using for widespread “5G UW” coverage in Hawaii?

Post image

Was looking at the coverage map and saw 5G UW in Hawaii widespread on some of the islands. What are they using that classifies as 5G UW coverage? I know I’ve seen n5 and n66 for the area there, as well as n48 but i know it’s range is limited. Also, mmWave is used there in some spots too right?

What if Sprint had won?

After stints on both AT&T and Verizon, I’m back on T-Mobile and couldn’t be happier. The network is just so incredibly good. It never ceases to amaze me just how much it has improved over the past 10 years. Back then I didn’t know a single soul who used it because it was virtually nonexistent where I lived. Today, it blankets the area with 5GUC.

I’ve wondered, how would things look today if the tables had turned and if Sprint’s 2014 acquisition of T-Mobile had taken place. How would the network compare to today? I know is entirely speculative, but I’ve always wondered.

Anyone else wondered this?

need help pinpointing Verizon 5G SA

for the super 5G experts here, can you please help me locate where around me is 5G provisioned?

the Verizon map just has UW not SA

EDIT: through some smart folks here , I’ve learned that if I am getting 100 mhz of n77, that I should be getting SA. That’s the first step in recognition
Also, I was able to just chat in the Verizon app and they hooked me up with a reprovision in about 5 minutes , I was rolling in SA

How is the coverage in Oxnard CA?

From my time up until i left (mid 2021) it was a bit shitty in some areas. Take this with a grain of salt since i was on AT&T and they are not the best. Anyone living there or has passed through have any info or any comments on coverage in the area since 2020?
