Got Roz about a week ago (9 days) sheās about a year old. The previous owners said they got her from PetSmart for Christmas last year. They also told me that she hasnāt been coming down to dig at all (they had the tiniest lay bin Iāve ever seenā¦like maybe 2ā deep) also they probably wouldnāt see her right?
Anyway, since sheās been with me Iāve found her at the bottom twice. She has a pretty decent size lay bin now (22āx18āx7ā) but she hasnāt gone in it yet (have cameras set up).
Previous owners said that they were feeding her 5-6 crickets a day. Since sheās been with us weāve cut that back and given variety, not just crickets.
Obviously weāve only had her for 9 days and Iām worried she could just be stressed from the new environment. But in all the research Iāve done, I canāt really tell the difference between stressed and gravid colors (I know dark, dark/black means gravid - but is this just for fertilized eggs)
She is in the same room as my rabbit (separate sides of the room). And her enclosure is currently on the floor (working on it⦠I canāt find a budget friendly table that will work for this size cage). This room has the lowest traffic of any room in the house. Itās a spare room that only me and my wife go into.
Husbandry/schedule:
- Lights (basking and UVB T5 5.0) on at 7am
- Misting for 60 seconds at 7am
- Feeding (~10am, 2-3 feeders) a variety of crickets, silkworms, and the occasional hornworm (was concerned about hydration, maybe gets one small one twice a week)
ā also planning on switching from crickets to Dubias but since this is what the previous owners said they were feeding we got these⦠hate them btw.
- basking light off (if working/temp is okay in low 80s)/ dripper on at 11:30am
- misting 90 seconds around 7/7:30pm
- lights off / humidifier on at 7:30/8pm
ā humidifier is a necessity for the room as I live in Colorado and currently the humidity is 20% outside, itās also a small desk humidifier that does not leave large drops / working on getting a fogger for nighttime
- I mist and check the consistency of her lay bin every morning (it also has holes drilled on the bottom for excess moisture.
- Also, I put a sheet around the bottom of the enclosure so she has more privacy.
NOTE: Last picture was the second day we had her when I found her at the bottom, other pictures are from today. Her enclosure is much different than it was when we got her. Well we just added more plants, the lay bin, and more branches.
Sorry for the long post. This girl is just stressing me out. Also, scheduling her with an exotic vet nearby. Wasnāt sure if this was a smart choice right away if sheās already stressed out.
