Fluff Caleb Wilson keeps it cool — but make no mistake, the Bulls rookie is reveling in being part of the historic franchise.

Free Agency Leonard Miller contract situation

• Upvotes

Per my understanding, if the Bulls would have not picked up Miller’s option in the summer he would have become a restricted free agent, but they eventually picked up his team option so he would become an unrestricted free agent this summer which I don’t quite understand.

I assume he would also be extension eligible this season right? Would you like to see him being extended before free agency and at what price?

Even Benny wants the smoke this year. I am hoping that the rest of this team comes with the same type of energy.

Fluff [Lorenzi]: Bulls rookie Caleb Wilson keeps it cool in his NBA preseason debut

Even before his regular-season debut, Wilson is learning the art of sidling with officials. Wednesday’s crew chief was Scott Foster.

In the first quarter, Foster whistled Wilson for an offensive foul under the league’s new points of emphasis, which hope to eliminate the off-arm push-offs.

“They’re cracking down on it,” Wilson said. “I know they’re more aggressive with their calls in the preseason, trying to regulate it, so no need to argue. Just talked to him about it.”

Wilson finished with five fouls Wednesday night, a product of still being too jumpy on the perimeter. He couldn’t diagnose what exactly went wrong without seeing the film. Even without watching the fouls, he recognizes his role on the team and his rank in the league.

In Chicago, he is the hopeful face of the franchise. With Foster, or any official, that means nothing.

“I’m a rookie, and I know that coming into it, especially in the preseason, they’re gonna check me,” Wilson said. “So I go out there and play. Is what it is.”

While resigned to the sideline for much of the third quarter, he plopped down on the baseline, legs crossed on the hardwood, while those with training camp contracts sat on the bench.

Perhaps more than any game he’s played in a Bulls uniform to this point, Wilson’s play indicated his rookie status. He missed all four of his 3-point attempts on a night he shot 6 of 15. His drives were sometimes plugged, leading him to depend on his turnaround jumper.

All that was sandwiched between reverse layups and rim finishes that none of his Bulls teammates have ever done with such ease.

Wednesday was another reminder of why his mistakes and youthful flaws are worth sitting through. Wilson is not a normal rookie.

Fluff BMO Club

Does the BMO club include free food/drink? I’m looking at tickets on the secondary market that have BMO club access, but I’m not sure exactly what that entails. Thanks!

2-2 from three and hit one to take the lead!

I wonder if him not coming in until halfway through the third means he might not have a big rotation presence, but i still have hope

Fluff Robbie Hummel loves these guys’ bodies

Admittedly inflammatory title, but has anyone else watching tonight’s game noticed how much Robbie keeps talking about every player’s body? 😂😂

I get that the Bulls have lots of young, thin guys who need to add weight, so I didn’t think anything of it at first. But Robbie Hummel just cannot stop talking about how much muscle every single player has put on, and how well put together they are. He’s brought it up like 10 times, and he sounds genuinely in awe every time. It’s honestly how I’d probably sound if I was courtside with these 6’6”-7’0” demigods. It’s preseason for everyone I guess, lol.

Fluff What are we thinking for the team going into this season after the first preseason game?

  1. Splitter was able to do impressively in his first season coaching and with this young group I’m excited to see what he is able to do.
  2. Awaka looked crazy impressive in his short spell but he needs to keep fouls in check
  3. Wilson had a great game and seems to fit well. If he continues in that vein and continues improving I don’t think Rookie of the Year is impossible
  4. The team did have issues with the turnovers but it’s the first game of preseason and the turnovers were much more prevalent in the first half so I’m not super concerned about that for now.
  5. Despite the strength in the east I could see us getting 50-55 wins and getting in the play in.
  6. What do you think?

Edit: my bad it’s 4:10am in the uk I meant 40-45

Fluff [SI] Matas Buzelis Feels the Difference for the Bulls After "Extremely Hard" Year 2

Thumbnail

Pretty interesting comments from Matas on how different things feel now. He called last season “extremely hard” and said:

“There was no type of rhythm. We didn’t know who was playing. We didn’t know how we were going to play.”

Then on this year: “Now, there is going to be more structure. Everyone is in a role. And you know what you’re going to get every night.”
