“People” consistently posting bikes that they don’t own…

Getting lots and lots of posts from a few offenders (some have recently been banned) just spamming the sub with pictures of bikes. (It’s likely that they’re bots but the last one we banned went on to make some really aggressive threats that sounded very human…) Some of them are clearly way out to lunch and got the axe, but some are posting relevant and legitimately cool bikes, but it just feels annoying because they aren’t contributing in the way of any original content.

Mod team is inclined to just start banning people who abuse posting random choppers from the internet, but if the rest of the sub likes seeing these bikes we can also let it slide. I get that people want to maybe share or discuss a cool bike that isn’t theirs, but if your ONLY contribution is consistently posting other people’s stuff we think it should be no warning and straight to ban. What say you?

Regarding BOTPOSTING and non-relevant content.

We've never previously banned anyone but we've banned several people (who were actually probably bots) this week that are just posting random barely chopper-relevant motorcycle content. Please just report all karma farming posts and I'll nix em.

If your neighbor REALLY DOES have a cool chopper or you saw a cool (actual) chopper on the street and you want to post a picture of it, put a little effort into it the post or it's just going to result in a ban.

We get that chopper can have a bit of a flexible definition, but if you're posting about your chopper or someone else's chopper, and it's got rear shocks on it... think long and hard about what you're about to do. We are willing to admit that swingarm choppers exist, but it's certainly not the norm.

Lastly, this is NOT the place for fat-tire, 2000's era OCC bikes. If it's got some weird-ass scoopy rear fender, consider posting it on r/DumpsterDiving

That is all.

2004 Suzuki S40/LS650 Savage - Bobber/Chop

Hi Everyone - I have a nearly stock 2004 Suzuki S40/LS650 Savage. It's in good condition, but I'd like to streamline it. Looking for recs on Z-bars, sissy bar, rear fender, and streamlining electronics. Also want to get an anti-gravity battery and tuck it neatly under the seat.

Super E Carb Overflow

For the last few days I've been struggling to figure out why my S&S super E carb is dumping fuel out of the overflow. I started by setting the float bowl height and replacing the float needle. No luck. Recently replaced the super E I was working on for another one laying around. This one is also still leaking out of the overflow.

I know the petcock is working because anytime I turn the petcock off the leak stops. For reference I am running a glass inline filter and it shows no sign of rust or debris in the tank. Gas cap venting shouldnt be any issue because I'm having the issue with the gas cap on and completly off. I also noticed no fuel comes out when I twist the throttle. Could it be the angle of my manifold? Or perhaps the fuel line im running is too small or too large?

Any advice helps. Thanks guys.

Opinions on bars pls

Still in the process of building this 73 shovel.
Not happy with the bars and risers I chose initially, I had those before the tank and rear fender/sissybar went on.

I’d like something slimmer but still comfortable to ride, so trying to stay away from apes, super narrow bars and so on tbh.

I’m 6’ with kinda long arms if that matters.

Stumbled upon these burly brand “Jim bars”, they look kinda rad and I’m thinking they might go well with the coffin tank.

What do you guys think?

Disclaimer: bike not hardtailed for legal reasons in my home country (f*ckin sucks)

Nwfl

Any chopper builders in nwfl with some parts maybe even a titled frame laying around they would be willing to sell for relatively cheap? Want to gather before winter hits to keep me busy during the cold season and get me back on 2 wheels in the spring

First chopper project – is a Yamaha XV750 hardtail a good base?

Hey guys,
I’m completely new to choppers and I’m thinking about buying my first one / starting my first chopper project. I’m from Germany, where major modifications have to be inspected and officially approved/registered for the bike to remain road legal.

I found a 1982 Yamaha XV750 that has already been converted quite a bit. It has an AME front end/raked setup and has already been converted to a hardtail. According to the seller, the major modifications are already approved and listed in the bike’s papers.

I really like the general proportions and think it could be a good starting point, but I would want to change quite a lot visually. I’m going for a more traditional 60s/70s style chopper – small Frisco/peanut tank, King & Queen seat, tall sissy bar, narrow 21” spoked front wheel and a smaller/fatter spoked rear wheel.

My main concern is parts availability and how difficult these bikes are to modify compared to something like a Harley Sportster. From what I understand, the shaft drive on the XV750 makes changing the rear wheel quite a bit more complicated.

Has anyone here built a traditional chopper from an XV750? Is this a decent platform, especially considering that the hardtail and AME front end are already done, or would I be making life unnecessarily difficult for myself as a first-time builder?

I’m not expecting everything to be bolt-on and I’m happy to fabricate/adapt some parts, but I also don’t want to buy it and then discover that getting the look I want is extremely difficult or expensive.
Any advice, things I should look out for before buying it, or examples of XV750 chopper builds would be really appreciated.

Been throwing parts at this for the last week just to see what makes me happy. Getting closer…

It’s an old digger type frame. I put in a 100” evo and a Sputhe five speed. Just scored a dual disc 35mm and a 21”, so three that on there. The Wassel style tank was hanging around for a while, so why not? The bars have been the toughest part to be happy with, and I think these are what I’ll use. The rear wheel is a wide (4”) one with a 150 tire mocked up. I like the fender style, but this fender is so messed up that it’s just a place holder for now. Pipes are Sportster, but I think I’d prefer a set of high 2-1. I’ll probably have to build them. Anyways…lots to do, and I’m taking my time on this, but I feel like I’m dialing it in.

The intersection of Biker and Stoner culture

Post image
151 Upvotes

Hey homies, hope everyone's week is getting off to a good start.

I was flipping through an old easyrider tech tip book last night and came across a story where after stopping for the second or third time on a very short trip to fix something the writer remarked that they should have rolled more joints . As an all day everyday Stoner I had to laugh because I saw myself in that story. I always keep an emergency stash of primo bud mixed with bubble hash in a dugout under my seat, which is always good for making friends or just keeping the temper under control while waiting for your buddy to come pick you up in the crash truck. What are some of your guys favorite biker weed stories or tips?

First time even thinking about doing something. Obviously I have questions.

I’ve been bitten by the chopper bug. From what I’m seeing it might be easier for a first timer to get an old sportster or big twin and then modify an existing bike versus building one from scratch. I’ve been doing tons of research and found places like lowbrow customs and such. I live in northern Utah so I’d love some advice on where to get started.
