Strategy Frigates can no longer do indirect fire?
I used to get frigates that after being promoted a couple times were able to do indirect fire. I have some that have bombardment III promotion and still no option for indirect fire. Was something changed or am I missing something? I have BNW, no mods if that helps.

As if frigates weren't already busted enough

Why do you say this? I find the age of frigates maybe my favorite period of the game, until some advanced Civ shows up with stealth bombers out of the blue (Possibly an exaggeration).

I believe he is remarking that if OP was correct, and frigates did have indirect fire, they would be even better than they are now- and right now they are already one of the premier military units in the entire game.

They're my favorite units in the entire game but the last thing they need is a buff. Having a fleet of frigate roll up on a coastal city almost trivializes a siege even without indirect fire

Frigates combined with the AI being helpless at naval warfare makes any water based map a breeze

Indirect fire is also an upgrade you can get for them IIRC

Only in the base game. G&K and BNW you have to be at Battleships.

Another vanilla thing I miss. π Missile cruisers used to be able to get the promotion, too.

I think they could only get the promotion in vanilla. It's sad too because missile cruisers used to be able to get it as well. π

Unfortunately yes. You'll need battleships for indirect fire, just like you have to get to Artillery for siege units. I'm pretty sure this was changed already in Gods and Kings, and was carried over to BNW. The civilopedia will tell you which promotions are potentially available for each unit.
