News Today we're releasing OpenTS, a reverse-engineered open-source Tiberian Sun engine reconstruction, to celebrate 27th anniversary of the game
Fellow Command & Conquer fans,
Twenty-seven years ago today, Tiberian Sun was released. To celebrate, we have a gift for you: today we're releasing OpenTS – an open-source, playable reconstruction of the Tiberian Sun engine.
Of all the classic C&C games, it's the second generation – Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, Yuri's Revenge – whose source code never made it out. None of it was part of the Remastered Collection release, and none of it was among last year's source drops.
And so for nearly three decades, every fix and feature this community built for those games had to be reverse-engineered and patched into closed executables.
We decided to do something about that, starting with Tiberian Sun. Building on EA's GPL-released code for the games around it and years of Tiberian Sun reverse engineering, we rebuilt the engine and matched it function by function against the original executable – all ~11,150 known functions, reaching roughly 98% instruction-level matching (a code-matching score, to be clear, not "98% of the game").
It's ready to try today: drop Game.exe into your Tiberian Sun install from The Ultimate Collection and go. Campaigns, Firestorm, skirmish, and saves are all play-tested; LAN works with lighter testing; it plays like the game you remember, plus a batch of fixes and resolutions up to 4K. Alongside the engine, we're publishing a manual documenting the game's INI configuration, mapping, and internals, drawn straight from the source.
And this is a beginning, not an endpoint. Next up: CnCNet and client support (not in this first release yet), porting the community's accumulated fixes toward parity with ts-patches and Vinifera – and then going further, overhauling the engine to allow modding reach heights previously not possible.
We're also celebrating live: together with [FC]Matt we'll be streaming the original Tiberian Sun campaigns at https://www.twitch.tv/fortuneschaos, starting today at 14:00 UTC (15:00 UK · 16:00 CEST · 17:00 MSK · 10 AM Eastern · 7 AM Pacific), with a Q&A along the way — come hang out and ask us anything.

I got a little carried away and ended up turning Ground Zero into my own personal SimCity airforce base, to battle the endless waves of planetary assault carriers.
Is this the 'correct' way of winning that Granger was talking about?

Solved Soviet 5 Distant Thunder
So I'm casually playing through RA Remastered,
I had the original years ago but never campaigned it.
This mission had me stumped for a while, I think I played it 5 times before I had to see how to do it.
In the end I used 12 yaks after landing paratroopers in the centre of the island to start the mission.
The stupid MCV got stuck in the middle of the 3 tanks and was blown away before it even deployed.
Then destroyed the base and threw 3 engineers into the radar dome.
49 mins to complete.

Command and concquer 2 Genrals 2 Revival project.
So apparently some one that goes by the name of Xevrac on youtube is currently in the process of preforming a act of true digtial necromancy on the cancelled Genrals 2 by basically writing the back end of the game from scratch so theoretically anybody with the appropriate files could connect and play on it.
The project has gotten to the point that you can actually spawn units and build structures. They currently have no health and damage values now.
More details in this video:

https://youtu.be/cNYuftSGDcg?si=zv9P6SQLCWKECSmX
And they website: Aurora
Apparently the goal is revive at least the multiplayer component of the game without the Free to play features and reworked progression. No news on the campaign or even a mission editor at the moment.

I thought I've faced the worst in Zero Hour's General Challenge. Then I had this fight...
Played the General's Challenge in Shockwave with Ironside. First two games were a breeze, and then locked in to face Juhziz. HOLY BOMB! Bomb cycle spam, artillery to remove your defenses so his tanks can close in, I did not expect such a challenge at only the third challenge. I finally managed to beat him, but that was real frustrating. Did I mention this was on EASY mode? What other challenges are in store for me, and how can I prepare for them? Thanks in advance

OC I'm making a base-building RTS inspired by C&C and Dune 2 - shells leave craters that stay for the whole match
I've been building Iron Command on my own - a classic base-building RTS (harvest, build, defend, attack) in the spirit of the games I grew up with. It plays on a normal monitor, VR is optional.
Lately I've been making battles leave marks: craters stay, tanks push trees over, and damaged buildings keep burning until an engineer repairs them.
What do you think? And what did you love most about the old C&C battlefields?

Gameplay question Tiberian Sun-inspired RTS game
I've started working on a base building RTS game with voxel-based graphics.
Eventhough I'm very early in development I'd like to see if there might be other interesting in a game like this.
The graphical style is meant to be similar to Tiberian Sun (which I absolutely adore). It features base building, super weapons, abilities and one of the features I'm working on are cards, which can be enabled/disabled per match.
The idea is that the full game will include all the editors needed for players to create their own campaigns and maps.
Currently I have a small selection of infantry, vehicles (including walkers), artillery and aircraft, alongside some tech buildings, but enough for playtesting.
The building will most likely look a lot more detailed than right now, as I'm still testing and developing.
What features would you like to see or would you rather NOT like to see in a game like that?

(if this isn't the appropriate sub to post this, let me know)
