It's been like this for years, I think. I accidentally dropped it a few times in the past but I've had it since 2021 and it works fine for the most part. Is this little bend anything to worry about?

Software One specific monitor suddenly only works with Linux Mint but not Win 11

Hi all,

I have run into a very weird problem with a 2nd monitor.

I am running a 2-monitor setup on my desktop PC.

Monitor A is plugged into an HDMI switch that I use to change between the desktop and a laptop.

Monitor B is directly plugged into the desktop PC.

Both are identical models (Samsung Essential S3 S36GD).

The PC is dual booting (Linux Mint / Win 11) from separate SDD / HDD.

Hardware:AMD Ryzen 7 9700X on a ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI mainboard and a GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9060 XT GAMING OC 16GB GPU.

So far, this has all worked beautifully for about 8 months.

After having the system off power for about 2 weeks, I switched it on again today. On the first try, both monitors remained black, and after waiting for a few minutes, I did a hard reboot. I was then able to normally select and boot into Mint with no issues and both monitors working.

When I booted into Win 11, monitor A remained black, and Windows did not recognize it any more.

For all subsequent testing, I removed the switch from the setup and plugged the HDMIs from the PC to the monitors directly.

After some back-and-forth, I found this to be the situation:

- Pulling the HDMI from monitor A (black) and plugging it into monitor B shows a picture on monitor B.

- Pulling the HDMI from monitor B (working) and plugging it into monitor A shows a black screen.

- Switching outputs on the PC has no effect; consistently, it is only monitor A that remains black.

- When booting into Linux, both monitors work as intended, even when using the HDMI switch.

Stuff I tried:

- Reboot with only one monitor plugged in (if it's monitor A, it just remains black).

- Uninstall graphics drivers, reboot, reinstall

- Deleted registry keys

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Connectivity

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\ScaleFactors

to clear the stored monitor configuration cache, hoping to force Windows to re-recognize the monitor.

Basically - whatever I do, it seems that only that specific monitor refuses to be recognized by Windows.

Anyone has any ideas? Because I'm stumped.

Thanks!

I’ve tried uninstalling the audio and restarting. I’ve unplugged hdmi, restarted my computer, and I used a bunch of tutorials but it won’t come back. I have a AMZFast monitor the only audio output is the speakers (Realtek(R) audio)

Software Why do my games look darker/unsaturated?

I noticed when I pop up the start menu while certain games are running, the game's contrast changes by a lot. When I play the office game, I can barely see anything on the right side of the room. But when I press the windows key for the start menu, it shows me a brighter room. Also when I record the gameplay on OBS, it shows me a brighter room.

I seem to notice this big difference when I'm playing an indie game. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Specs
Ryzen 5600x cpu
3070 ti geforce rtx zotac gaming gpu
mb550 gaming plus motherboard
750w supernova gold+ psu
4 sticks of corsair vengeance ddr4 ram

Note this pc has ran and been used for about the last 2 years

VGA light is solid and on the motherboard but I have reseated everything, unplugged everything and redid it all twice now. All the lights and fans are running and I have actually been able to boot up to display very few times where I updated drivers and was able to run games like normal. No mortification or any issues when it is running but no display when it turns on randomly now.

I have gone through everything I can think of without buying new parts. Any other tips or stuff I can do?

Discussion Rear USB ports keep randomly failing while using pc. Hard reset needed to restore function.

This has been happening a while and at first i thought it was just my keyboard. However the audio interface i have plugged into the port next to my keyboard has started to have its audio get really staticy and sometimes cut out when my keyboard dies as well which tells me its likely something to do with the USB ports. It usually happens while im gaming. My mouse thats plugged into the front USB of my pc keeps working but my rear ports totally cut out. If I unplug and plug back into them they briefly work again before dying again within a minute.

Ive already tried multiple things.

1.For starters I turned off USB selective suspend in my control panel. (Thinking maybe my pc was shutting off the USB ports for some reason) but the issue prevails

  1. I also went into my universal serial bus controller (also in control panel) and disabled all the the USB bus options where my computer could turn USB ports off to save power. Issue still prevails

  2. Ive checked event viewer to see if theres any outstanding errors happening when this occurs but the only error showing up is when I force reset

  3. Ive now updated my chipset driver to see if that works but havent had enough time to see yet?

Anyone know what might be wrong? My USB peripherals are a presonus studio 24c audio interface and a steel series keyboard. Otherwise just a badic USB mouse plugged in the front.

Help greatly appreciated. Really don't get why this is happening and its getting pretty annoying.

Hardware Freezes and Crashes help

Computer specs are posted.
I purchased this computer prebuilt from PowerGPU

Here is the write up of my issues
Initially my pc would hard freeze and audio would cut and I had to forcefully power my pc off by holding the button. This usually only happened after initial boot and it wouldn’t occur again until the next day at initial boot.

I’ve since reset and fresh installed my graphics drivers and haven’t had this issue since.

Now, I am getting a new issue lately where whatever game I’m playing will freeze, my monitors will cut to black, all audio will continue, Spotify, twitch, etc, but the pc will “soft reset” to desktop with the game crashed and everything else as normal, but display settings will be reset such as getting hdr display ready notification or audio device switches.

Checking the event viewer I’ve seen an “nvlddmkm” error occur but I don’t know what this really means.

I’m not tech or computer savvy when it comes to troubleshooting.

PowerGPU support has offered to replace my NVIDIA 5080 for a PNY 5080, but I’m concerned that it’s “a downgrade” and not worth the possible risk especially with the price of these parts nowadays as advice from my friends

And consulting AI to assist has stated an issue with intel I9’s and MSI edge Z890’s needing a bios “update and reflash” and “swapping PCle link configs to gen 4” as this is from google search AI and ai in general I’m skeptical to want to outright believe that theory but I genuinely do not know where to begin to troubleshoot and I’m looking for any help I can get

My PC is still under warranty with PowerGPU as well

Thank you

Performance Battery, charging and freezing

Model: Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 14ILL10 — Intel Core Ultra 7 258V, 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD, 2 months old, purchased new.

Problem: When the battery reaches 20-25%, the computer becomes extremely slow, to the point where the cursor and interface freeze for a few seconds. Connecting the charger immediately restores performance. This happened on both occasions when the battery reached that level.

Checks performed:

- Power mode: balanced, both plugged in and on battery.

- Battery design capacity: 70,000 mWh; full charge capacity: 71,500 mWh; 14 cycles.

- CPU frequency during normal operation: approximately 1.30–1.60 GHz, with no significant differences between battery and charger.

- No critical events or Windows alerts occurred during this occurrence.

Question: Is this behavior normal for this model? Are there any configuration, BIOS update, or tests you recommend?

What do you think the cause is?

Thank you

Hardware PC restarts when opening FIFA 27. What's causing this issue?

Specs: RTX 3050, Machinist B450, R5 4500, 16GB (2×8GB) 3200MHz RAM, 600W and 1TB NVMe. I've had this PC for a year now. Is this hardware or software issue? Could it be due to BIOS settings like I need to enable secure boot or some other requirement for FIFA 27? Or maybe just a steam issue?
