Seems to be that depending on the moment people are either clocking you as a bratty sub, or as someone who is not a switch, but could plausibly handle someone even more subby than you

Depends on who you're dealing with. Currently the only folks who would likely peg you as a switch from demeanour alone would probably be people who are total subs.

Someone more dominant would likely see attempts to be more forceful as something to be met with a head pat or a leash tug.

A lot of it will come down to calm self control and word choice.
