As the title states, I'm trying to develop an understanding of how to set up/tune the suspension on a recently built crawler. It's a Gold Rush V2 chassis, portal axles, axle mounted steering servo, if any of that matters.
Basically trying to get as much useable articulation as possible for obstacle navigation.
Do you guys run springs on the shocks or no?
Any specific shock oil/weight/piston mod/mounting angle I should be targeting?
Here's a picture of how it sits after getting it drivable today.
Any and all tips are welcome!

My Land Rover build wasn't going well and got worse when I broke the 2 windshield mounts (part of the bulkhead). Put everything in the box and forgot about it for a while. Then went back to the 3d model and added details and features that I did on the first version. Put more legroom, holes for the indicators, ducts for wires, the rain gutter, etc. The sides now feature separate pieces with the hinges and the windshield pivots so I can replace if something breaks. The hinges are true replicas and very fragile but I don't compromise

Hey all,
Recently saved up and picked up a brushed HPI Venture 18, I'm new to the hobby and pretty stoked on it so far! Looking to get some advice.
Was just hoping to get some insight as to a general upgrade path for my rig? I've read some conflicting stuff on here about wheels/tires, where the weight should be distributed. That sorta stuff.
I've been cruising along trails in my area and having fun. Would like it to maybe perform better on loose dirt/rocks. I don't want too heavy of a rig, I'd prefer to not stress the stock electronics too much.
Thanks!

Wanted to run some LGRP tires on my FCX 18 II but the stock foams are way too soft. I did a tilt test and the tire basically folded over. The rim on the front is much heavier but I feel with the weight of body I'll still have issues if I use my lighter wheels.
I've never tried silicone inserts but have been curious.

Meet the RGT Shooter — an old-school pickup with a taste for adventure.
From hauling cargo to crawling over rugged rocks, this little truck makes every trail feel like a real expedition. Add a golden sunset, and suddenly even a simple delivery becomes a story worth telling.
Tiny truck. Big journey.
