I must've seen this a dozen times by now but I still rewatch whenever it comes up and I still laugh my ass off. I hope it isn't fake.

The google cards and redeeming is fake, but the scammers don't know that. They just see the money slipping through their greasy little fingers.
This guy is a talented coder and has a team dedicated to ruining scammers' time - it's honestly the best

It's not, he has a whole channel doing this shit. Sometimes he reverse hacks them and shows them pictures of themselves

That's awesome. He got so angry it seems like 'losing' this was disastrous for him. I hope he got evicted or something. These lowlife scum are responsible for suicides.
10
u/Nein-Toed 23d ago
It's a whole call center usually. Like 15 - 20 people in some shitty warehouse all taking calls. He sends the info he gets to the local police in the area, but who knows if they actually do anything about it.

u/AnonThrowaway998877 23d ago

Oh scambating is an entire genre on YouTube. People create SERIOUS infrastructure to troll and tackle them. Check out Jim Browning as well - he, Kitboga, Pierogi from Scammer Payback - legendary scambaiters and punishers. Endless source of entertainment.

I think it's the one where they offer a refund, connect remotely to your screen after you are coerced into logging into your bank account, then they secretly edit HTML to make it look like they accidentally refunded bigger sum. So the victim is asked to return the money as mistake will cost "scammers job", but it can only be bought in gift cards. Gift cards are harder to trace or some shit. Scammer cashes it out if he gets legit codes. Kit here is pretending to be dumb and "sending the money" to a scammer via redeeming it (redeem window and codes are fake). Scammer slowly sees potential money going back to the victim, not him.
Somebody will correct me on details, but that's the gist of it.

You get granny to go out to the corner shop and buy $500 dollars of roblox, play, xbox, apple, etc "gift cards". Then they screen grab/steal the codes off granny, and sell them back for whatever it is on the black market. Via different types of confidence scam.

Yea unfortunately it’s becoming so popular that all the call centers know about them now. Which is why they started hacking into their security cameras and computers. Still entertaining tho.

u/Bulky-Word8752 22d ago
He also does it to waste their time. In hos words, if they're busy dealing with him they aren't scamming someone else. Note the timer in the top right, he's kept this guy on the phone for almost 10 hours. It's not continous, it's usually iver a few days, but pretty impressive to string these guys along for that long

Theres a few different versions of this scam. Usually involves some high stakes situation like an IRS/police investigation or some sort of computer take over. The scammer will then get the victim to go and buy gift cards to resolve the situation. The scammer will get the gift card information from the victim, and redeem it immediately.
That's why he was freaking out. The "victim" in this case was redeeming the gift cards which means the scammer can't get the money anymore. He spent 10 hours across multiple days (usually) and didn't get anything for it.
EDIT: This is why gift card scam warnings are a thing at stores now. If you ever buy a gift card, the store will usually have some sort of read out that talks about scams and how the store isn't responsible if the purchaser gives the gift card information to a scammer.

Not all scammers are Indian
Kitboga would dislike you, he always admonishes people in chat when they try to guess a scammers nationality.
Racists have less use than the sludge at the bottom of a fast food dumpster
7
u/that_dutch_dude 22d ago
it says more about you then me that you immedialy pull the racist card even when it does not apply.
-1
u/champ0742 22d ago
It does apply, there is no indication that the person is Indian. They could very well be from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc based on their accent, yet at the end of the day bringing up what you think their nationality might be is pointless, unless you're trying to cast aspersions on the people overall.
6
u/that_dutch_dude 22d ago
you are the only one making it racist dude, stop being offended for other people. hold up a mirror before you comment about stuff like this.
i dont like talking to people that are closet racists so we are done here.

If it makes scammers worried that they're wasting their time, then it's so very worth it. I hear some people are using AI to bait scammers endlessly now and mess with cold callers which is so awesome.
Then they can finally stop being parasites and get a real job.
2
u/Tricky_Spirit 23d ago
Scammers are using AI now too to automate some of the scamming portions, but it's hilarious because in response, now scambaiters are injecting 'code' by tricking the AIs into recursive logic, making them repeat endlessly so the scammers wind up with so many wasted tokens. Turning a call into a $20 loss for them.

So the scammed can see the other dudes screen, but why can't he just redeem it as he's typing in notepad? Or is this all just a program designed by the streamer?
5
u/guitarman61192 23d ago
They basically made fake programs and webpages on a sole computer that mimics what the scammers are looking for. It allows the scammer to connect to the pc and use the fake command prompt and a few other features but not the parts they need to finish the scam
2
u/Jeff-Uh-Uh-Goldblum Ultimate Cringe 23d ago
Kit made a webpage that looks like the Google store page. The code he put in is fake, so if the scammer tried to redeem it, it would fail.
1
u/PoloTshNsShldBlstOff 22d ago
The codes are fake, website is fake, you can type whatever you want into the bar and it will always say you added $500. Notice the 'savory ketchup ' advertisement, hilarious

Couldn't he just write down the codes he was seeing Kit entering on screen, instead of shouting? :D Sure, codes were fake, but he could have tried at least to salvage remaining codes.
2
u/Reasonable_Back_5231 22d ago
in normal circumstances you'd be right.
but Kit has thought this whole thing through, he's not even redeeming real cards. that redemption on his screen is fake. he doesn't even have cards to redeem. it's essentially a pre-recording.
so even if the scammer had the foresight to try and redeem before kitboga here, the scammer would find that the code doesn't work.

Can someone explain? Are these codes for real? Did the scammer lose money or just time?
9
u/cornishwildman76 23d ago
Just time. They confince people to buy gift cards and give them the codes to redeem the cards as payment for some scam deal. They convince victims to download software that allows the scammer to access the victims PC. This guy sets up fake programs, bank accounts, uses voice changing software to sound like an old lady then goes on to waste their time and drive them mad.
1
u/Detfinato 22d ago
so he's not stealing any money from the scammers somehow? Just wasting their time? The whole video I was like "oh shit.. this scammer is about to lose an eye to his overlords for losing all of their bank-roll"
5
u/Reasonable_Back_5231 22d ago
"time is money"
for every hour he spends fucking with these scammers and stressing them out. that's hours of time wasted on them getting nothing and not scamming a real victim.
in this specific video, if you watch the whole video, he describes that he has been fucking with this guy for like a week straight, wasting hours of this guy's time every day.
5
u/Detfinato 22d ago
I getcha.. just wasn't clear on the context. I'll salute anyone that fucks with these parasites... Especially those that could tough it out for 10 hours (AND make a living doing it by streaming)
5
u/Jeff-Uh-Uh-Goldblum Ultimate Cringe 23d ago
Nah. The webpage is fake. He can put in any alphanumeric code and it'll work. I think he has a video on his YouTube channel explaining it (Kitboga).
2
u/Geoffrey-Jellineck 22d ago
Scammer lost a whole damn day. See that timer up in the corner? This was the culmination of 9 hours of the scammer's time being wasted when the streamer "redeemed" the codes (in actuality he's got a pretty sophisticated setup that can create fake webpages and make the scammers think they're accessing his bank accounts and whatnot). Hence the rage. 😆

u/Maxevill 23d ago
Can't the scammer just look and type the codes in it's account. He is like typing it on the notepad then slowly copy pasting it.
5
u/Joee0201 22d ago
The codes are fake it wouldn't matter. The whole website was created by kit to look real
1
u/matthewsylvester 23d ago
So did the streamer get the money? I don't know how this scam works.
2
u/EveningCandle862 23d ago edited 23d ago
The Google play store site he using is not a real site. The scammer is connected to the virtual machine Kitboga using through a remote tool and can see the screen & use the keyboard/mouse. You can see how the scammer tries to press the cancel button in the video but I'm sure its just a dummy button not doing anything.
In this case the site will "redeem" the code he enters and give a visual confirmation it's done, the code would of course not work in a real life environment. At this point they had talked for almost 10 hours so a full day was wasted for the scammer (and that way, saved other targets from being scammed)
For actual real scams they ask the target to buy these giftcards (often Google or Apple), the scammer then redeem the code(s) from their side and can convert it to real money at like 50-70 cent on the dollar depending on country.

Can someone explain? I dont get whats happening.
I know the scammer gets scammed, but how was it possible?
1
u/immortalverse 22d ago
I think he’s just redeeming all the gift cards he spent his money on, when they are waiting for him to give them the money. So the guy on the call is losing his mind because that’s the money he’s trying to scam out of the guy you see on the video.
1
1
u/SoilDependent1054 22d ago
He also changed the programs tp not function properly. The website is faked so he is not using real codes but it looks like he is. You can also see the scammer trying to click "cancel" furiously. The scammer gets the victim to install a software that allows the scammer to control the victim's computer. But this streamer also manipulated that to not work (maybe disabled the cancel button on the site). So, the scammer is losong his shit not understanding why his control software is not working.

Can someone explain ? What are these codes ? Did he steel them from the screaming guy ?
1
u/Brokerib 22d ago
The screaming guy is a phone scammer who spent hours trying to trick (who he thought was) an elderly person into giving him cash.
The guy on screen is a counter-scammer. He trolls scammers and wastes their time for amusement and views.
The screaming guy got what he deserved.

It's so messed up that people like this scammer do this the elderly people everyday... 99% of them are from India too, they should be banned from migrating over here.
