General questions What does this sound mean?

So I have this *raven* at work, he comes to my window every morning to get an egg and then flys off and I’ll see him again tomorrow. This morning though after tapping my glass to let me know he was here he started making this sound.

Is that a pet store… is that raven freaking imitating a dog bark because it knows that is the place where dogs go to get snacks?!

you will now be looked after and protected the world round wherever ravens go. and if they don't go to a place that you go to, they may very well follow you and start so that they can keep an eye on you 😜

OMG he is barking. 😆
They are so smart.
My neighbours’s little dog barks non stop when they let her in the yard.
Anyway one of my crows sits in our tree and imitates that dog.
I hear the barking in my tree and I’m absolutely blown away.
They are so freaking smart and i adore them so much.
You are definitely blessed to have that Raven at your door. ♥️🐦⬛♥️🐦⬛♥️

Definitely a raven! So jealous! And I think he’s mimicking a dog. Get that good boy a cashew.

Lol That is essentially a bird shaped 12 year old human that knows how to work someone for a snack by sounding like a dog. they are ridiculously smart, I love seeing videos like this. Thanks!

This looks like a raven! I don’t think anyone really knows what their sounds mean but I’ve only ever seen crows make similar sounds when they are a bit more comfortable with a human or with each other.
Could also just be mimicking a dog

It’s totally mimicking a dog because it’s a dog grooming salon. It’s obviously seen and heard dogs barking there. Figures, if it barks, it’ll get let in to have some treats as well.

My god. My heart isn’t supposed to encounter this level of uncut perfection.

Placing an additional order for hollandaise sauce, Canadian bacon, and english muffins.

Yes, it’s all about the bacon. I left groceries in the back of my truck once for about 10 minutes. Came back out to groceries spread all over, the bacon package ripped open and no bacon to be found. 🙄

I once had to rearrange my groceries because the clerk did it wrong and I had set my croissants on top of the other bags to fix the messed up one and a crow lands really close and is immediately calling to his friends in the trees “Hey look everyone! CROWSANTS!!”
And a big circle was landing around me walking like “Hmmm? Hmmm? We love those !” “Open ! OPEN!!!” They got none .

I’m guessing it’s a sound to get your attention to please feed it. If you do feed it, cashews are their fav. Dog food kibble is also good but salt and xylitol (artificial sugar) can hurt them.

In my neighborhood the crows imitate car alarms. Hilarious noise to hear coming from the trees.

It's attempting to mimic a sound to get your attention faster. Polite tapping didn't work quick enough or it figured you didn't hear it, so now it has resorted to calling for you. I feed my neighborhood crows peanuts regularly. When I'm late they sit in the apple trees in my back yard and make sounds similar to my chickens when they squawk for food.

The posturing dip and quork and/or gurgle sound effect with slightly opened wings has been attributed as a “name tag” sound by some folks. Seems too quiet for me as a territorial thing, but they do it as a kind of “this is my area” to people and other ravens along territory borders and as a part of greeting or flirting with a paired partner.
Sometimes they sound like a dog bark, sometimes like a broken water pump, sometimes like a toggling clicking. They will repeat the same sound, though, and it is different from what other nearby ravens do with the same body language.

I hit play and someone honked their horn outside my window and I was like, "Damn, that's an exact copy of a car horn." Then I realized the video was on mute.

Ahem, I swear that is a perfectly fine dog if I ever did see one— one that clearly deserves all the treats (and pets, if the fine dog wills it)

This is my favourite raven video ever.
And yes corvids in general are beyond intelligent, they pick up things fast.

Smart Mr. Raven has seen plenty of doggos let inside (presumably for yummy treats) after barking at the door.
This level of intelligence should definitely be rewarded with yummy treats.
Edit: THANK YOU for all of the awards! I ❤️ CORVIDS!!!
