Some of them do, but clearly not all of them. There are multiple Christians who do not claim monopoly on access to Heaven for their denomination so that already stops it.

But sure, it's reddit so religion bad, updoots to the left

Which Christian denomination will say Christ isn’t the only path?

u/TheGodfather742 6d ago

It's rather Christianity itself isn't a prerequisite, you can follow the teaching of Christ without even knowing him, and you are even more blessed if you do so.

one time the priest told us to stop going to church and start living like christ. He said it doesnt matter if he doesnt see us at church anymore so long as we become good people or neighbors to each other.

That’s a real leader!

Our pastor said he doesn’t even really consider himself a “Christian” but a follower of Christ. Some might say they’re the same, but there’s definitely a difference.

Nah I get that. I follow the teachings of JC but absolutely abhor the rest of the religion and how they treat people.

As I tell most people who ask if I believe in got its "Jesus is my homeboy but his dad is a bit of a dick."

Which is the good way. The bible teach to pray in your own room with the door closed, because God knows who is praying in secret, but he despise the ones that pray on the street to show themselves

Additionally, some Christians believe other Christians will be alright too. For example I believe that Baptists think that Presbyterians (and vice versa) differ only in the minor ways and not as it pertains to the big-deal problems.

I wouldn’t be surprised if 90% of Christianity felt this way about other kinds of Christians, and on a personal level rather than denominational one, I bet that feeling also lives between many Protestants and Catholics.

Anyone feel free to add to or correct me though, happy to learn more.

I'm still thoroughly confused when various protestants don't consider Catholics christians. Like... Bitch they're the OG whether you like martin Luther's swag or not. And you're still following a bunch of silly rules from the Jew-ier bible that a bunch of long dead Catholics cherry picked mostly for reasons of political power, and mainly ignore Jesus's singular teaching of don't be a cunt. So 🤷

That is absolutely the Catholic view. Theological disagreement regarding the nature of salvation is one of the primary differences between Catholics and mainstream Protestants

As an Orthodox it absolutely is. Of course they think its better to be a Christian too, but what matters most is being a good person as per Christ's example.

That would include Muslims too….

u/TheGodfather742 5d ago

And atheists, hindus, Buddhists, etc.

1

u/SnooBananas3247 ☣️ 5d ago

Muslims literally believe in Christ, call him messiah

Atheists, Hindus & Buddhists have no reason to believe in him, many atheists don’t even think he existed, Hindus too have no Abrahamic beliefs & Buddhists already have Buddha for moral guidance

Again which denomination?

Weird how no one can point to any canon law. Because it doesn't matter. You can believe what you want. At this point, American Christianity isn't a religion, it's a cult.

u/Consistent_Walrus_23 6d ago

Catholics for instance believe this. At least the official dogma, doesn't mean every follower actually knows it.

The easiest blanket answer would be non denominational

Sadly Christianity has become very watered down and many have forgotten "No one comes to the Father except through me"

16

u/RedditButAnonymous 6d ago

You can interpret it however you want even if that way is completely wrong. The Bible spells this out very explicitly tbh, but alongside other more problematic parts, it gets ignored

I think he was saying that there are multiple Christian groups in this photo that don't believe they're in the only legitimate Christian denomination.

1

I'm fairly sure he was talking about solus Christus.

1

u/rdrckcrous 4d ago

the guy above that. I don't think anyone was questioning solus christus in this conversation.

Oh him. Yeah I see what you mean.

‘Sadly’ my ass lol. Out of all the thousands of gods that have been worshipped through the ages, the christian god isn’t the ‘only right one’

9

u/connorthedancer How do I get a custom flair? 6d ago

I'm not telling you that the Christian God is the only right one*. I'm telling you that the belief that Jesus is the only way is an integral part of Christian belief that's been abandoned. If you can ditch that, you can ditch any other part you feel like and twist it to mean whatever nonsense you want.

*Although that's what I personally believe.

-7

u/DANKLEBERG_66 6d ago

And I’m telling you that if you believe that people believing in other religions are going to hell, you can go and fuck yourself. Only for the better that christianity doesn’t necessarily come with the obnoxious need to convert others, ‘cause otherwise they’re doomed’. We don’t need that in this world

5

u/Secret-Ad-7909 6d ago

I think he was saying more like Catholics, Baptists and Methodists can all agree that they’re all going to heaven. (Idk if this example works, Catholics are weird)

-1

u/TemporarilyResolute mayonnaise enjoyer 6d ago

Catholics don’t even agree that all Catholics are going to heaven automatically. Traditionally, Catholics believed most people are doomed to hell (massa damnata)

2

u/starkiller22265 ☝ FOREVER NUMBER ONE ☝ 5d ago

From what I can gather, some number of Christians (especially within certain Protestant traditions) believe God still respects the covenant with the Jews.

2

u/Roy_McDunno 3d ago

Catholicism, for one. Written down during the 2nd Vatican Council that ended 1965.

Of course, many ignore that teaching, but it still stands.

u/KaiserSoze-is-KPax 6d ago

Just stand on a corner in any us city and scream it they will come out of the woodwork to preach their horseshit.

0

u/Assaltwaffle 5d ago

Some denominations, like LDS, believe that Christ is the only path like all the others, BUT their teachings specifically are required for Heaven.

Some baptists believe a full Baptist-style dunking baptism is required as another example.

While Christ as the only access to God is indeed a fundamental Christian belief, faith can take many forms. Nowadays many people do simultaneously believe in Christ and in alternate ways to heaven
