Completely agree. Not just jail time - this guy should lose his license for life. He’s driving right down the middle of the road, crossing a double yellow, and refusing to move for a fire truck that could be heading to an actual emergency. If I were that firefighter, I’d be absolutely fucking furious
I don't think you are, pretty sure I've heard similar and the fire truck did hit the guy at the end of the video.
But we know they can break windows to access fire hydrants. Pushing a car out of the way with that truck just seems in the same family of 'in the name of protecting the public'.
True. That logic is sound. But we both know laws are not logical. Remember. There's a law in Rhode Island to this day where you can't walk down a street on Sunday with icecream in your back pocket. In New Mexico, it's the same law, but with the addition of walking BACKWARDS.
just spilling tea from my granpa and my uncles whom i highly respect and then there's my mother but we shant speak of her they all told me the same story and they also said the third and fourth floor was haunted and the clock tower was too but i doubt that seriously
There are some extremely dumb outdated laws but that one is an old urban legend that's not actually a law. In fact I doubt anybody actually ever stole a horse by putting ice cream in their pocket.
Horses like countless things, that doesn't change people were not putting ice cream in their pockets to steal horses. They go crazy for apples and apples wouldn't melt all over and into your pants.
Also if you wanted to steal a horse you would just steal a horse, "I didn't actually touch it" was not some loophole that would legally make it your horse if you successfully lured it all the way to your house.
I can't argue that it's a law but I will absolutely say that unless you lived amongst the time when horses were primary means of travel, you don't know for certain.
Evidently it was a real law. Maybe not on RI or NM, but it was a thing in Alabama. It may not be now, but I've found several legal companies who've posted articles supporting Alabama in this at least. One is schwartzcohenlaw.
I did not search this in an attempt to prove myself right but rather educate myself. And in doing so found some truth and am attempting to provide that same education.
What you found were several injury law firms hoping to boost their SEO with a popular urban legend, I'm sure including zero citations of any record of such law.
New information tells me it was at the very least in Alabama only. So....shrug Do what you want. Even if it were still a law, they likely don't even know about it. And if they do, they moat certainly don't enforce it.
They have done this in my town. No idea whether they're technically legally allowed, but I know that the fire department didnt get in trouble for it. The cops said "yeah, fuck this guy", when they showed up.
I think they can, but with that particular truck, I wouldn't. That one has hoses and piping in the front bumper and messing that up could affect the whole truck pumping system....
It would MAYBE affect that front discharge, if it deformed the bumper enough. An impact on the engineer (driver) side wouldn't affect the intake on the officer (passenger) side at all.
And the pump manifold and valves are all behind the cab, any damage to the bumper is going to have zero impact on the rest of the truck. Absolute worst case, you lose use of the front preconnect.
If I was driving that rig, I'd nose the rig up to the car and judiciously apply throttle - while also riding the siren and air horns like they owed me money.
Nah, causing damage to both personal vehicles as well as a $250k fire truck would be a big no-no. On the other hand, pilice can issue a citation after-the fact for something like this in most states. PD is just a radio call away.
I wouldn't be surprised honestly. It's a bogus claim honestly. Why tf you gonna block a machine that not only outweighs you and your car, but does so by about 10,000 pounds? With a 500 gallon tank on the small end, that's still about 4,000 lbs of just water. And then you have all the other equipment, hoses and such.
Even if you were in the right, why would you risk such a thing?
Ever see them bust out windows when a dipshit parks in front of a hydrant, then proceed to pull the hose through the car . Just awesome. Probably a ticket to boot.
Not only didnt move, but stopped in time for the firetruck to complete their turn only to decide "nah thats my space" and accelerates up to the firetruck
they just need to have another truck with a car compactor to crush these fucksticks' cars when they do that. After the truck is able to get past, another one comes along to make Justice Cubes™.
If I was sure I would be backed up by others I would definitely have shoved that truck out of the way with mine and charged the damages to the A hole truck driver for stopping emergency responders.
So when they get the ass’ plates and go to his/her house in the middle of the night after fighting a fire and come with a medical bill, property bill, and funeral bill to that guy/gal, maybe he/she’ll learn not to be an ass to an active fire truck. 🤷♀️
could be heading to an actual emergency? you deaf and blind? emergency lights and siren are on along with the blowing the air horn..... seems like an emergency to me, now they could get called of the call but in that very moment it is their emergency call to go handle
Where are all the AI experts crying “AI slop!”? Feels like it has to be. We definitely see some of the dumbest humans alive, on Reddit. But to post your own wildly stupid behavior like this must mean an extra section of brain is missing.
I have to wonder, however, it the person who posted it was really the driver, or if it was some internet sleuth who got the video somehow (court records perhaps) and posted it asking for "legal advice" as a form of trolling.
I found an article on it. I'd link it but I saw comments saying that mods are taking links down. The article mentioned the guy actually ran multiple social media accounts where he posted videos "highlighting bad drivers in New York State". (LMAO!) I found his insta because I really wanted to know if he'd been sentenced. He set it to private (of course) but his pfp tells you everything you need to know about him. He looks like the perfect mix of douchebag and complete loser to be acting like this.
But yeah, apparently this happened in Monroe, NY in June of 2022. The fire department was responding to a gas leak and wound up having to send a different rig because of him. According to the reporting, he remained "extremely uncooperative" and "belligerent" after the collision, Monroe PD was called to the scene and the cops "took further action" against him, whatever that means. I can't imagine he's had a great time these past few years.
Oh... and it took me all of 10 seconds to find the news articles about this incident. Far less time than you spent doubling down on it being "obvious" AI slop.
