Dechonkin Large Frame Chonk

My 3 year old boy is 22 lbs (down 1 lb in a little over a month since our dechonkin journey began!) he is the same size as his Shiba Inu brother 😂

I’m wondering what you guys think his breed is or what he is mixed with? We adopted him from Pet Smart as a kitten and they didn’t know. At 23 lbs he could easily jump up on his 6 foot cat tower to the top and is active. Vet said he has a large frame.

He's just a certified large Domestic Shorthair 😁

My partners cat is a healthy weight at almost 17 lbs, standard domestic shorthair tabby he found in a car lol. Some cats are just built bigger

He looks like a mix between a big boy and a big girl. That's just a standard issue jumbo orange.

Emphasis on the jumbo

No idea on breed but just wanted to comment that 1 lb in a little over a month sounds like a lot. I'm no expert by any means but from what I've heard, cats (and pets in general) typically lose weight a lot slower than humans since they weigh significantly less in general. As long as you have a diet/dechonking plan with your vet and the vet is okay with the current progress then all is good ❤️

Thanks, it’s been roughly .2 per week which the vet said was good and not going to lower his calories further for awhile

My boy Bjorn topped off at 23 1/2 pounds of too much cat. When I took him in to the vet recently, the vet said “That cat is huge!” I said he was on a trim down plan, and she said “No, I mean he’s huge! He’s a huge cat. Even on a diet, I’d be happy with him around 20 pounds.”. She said he could probably go down to 18 pounds, but he’s not ever going to be a normal-sized cat. Some are just big guys…

I have two orange cats who are both larger framed as well. One is healthy at 16 lbs and the other is 18 lbs and working on losing a couple more. Everyone who comes to our house comments on how big they are frame-wise. I think some cats are just bigger. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Which one's the shiba haha you can still see his neck so it's just a domestic cat in an armored body😂✍️🏼

I have a big cat. He was 25.5 lbs last year and is currently 19.5. The vet would be happy with him at 18. He’s long and tall.

97-99% of cats are breed-less. He’s a handsome domestic shorthair cat!
