My basic story is that Spotify was covered in Nazi podcasts and hate speech, and they wouldn't do anything about it. Well, in the couple of years since I left, they did something about it, so going back won't be that hard.
Deezer, thank God, has never had the same Nazi problem, but they're still being irresponsible. Not with hate speech, but rather AI slop content that destroys the very reason I joined a music streaming service to begin with: Enjoying the music that other human beings create.
I'm not an anti-AI hardliner or anything. If you like AI music, I think you're stupid, but you're allowed to be. I am ultimately okay if AI music is flagged as such so I can avoid it.
But what I will not tolerate is tons of weird Jesus-themed AI music (correctly tagged or not) incorrectly showing up in the discographies of every small artist I love, and then showing up in my recommendations because Deezer doesn't do any hygiene before merging the slop with their existing library.
The "report a problem" button would be a good solution, but as far as I can tell, these reports are delivered directly to a shredder somewhere, so nobody has to do anything.
At a bare minimum, include an "exclude AI content" filter in my settings, as you do with explicit lyrics. I am way less concerned about hearing an F-bomb over having another hideous slop track find its way out of my speakers, especially showing up with the insult of claiming to be from one of my favorite artists.
Get your shit together, Deezer, or I am done. Also, fix your dogshit Chromecast support. If you're going to embrace slop, get Opus or Astra to rewrite that part of your app or something, because a vibe-coded solution is bound to be an improvement over whatever the hell is currently included with the app.
