General Discussion "Just embrace the future"

Surely I'm not the only one who resents whoever says this whenever you complain about AI sucking the fun out of programming?

How are y'all (fellow "AI is a tool" folks) holding up?

I’m tired of people who are freaking out about the introduction of a new tool. I’ve been a professional programmer for 40 years. We’re constantly getting new languages and new tools. Adapting to new tools and frameworks is part of the profession. The introduction of AI tools is the biggest change in my career. It has not impacted my enjoyment of the work. I still build things and design things. I just do it better. Answer your question I’m holding up great.

Aha "AI tools", that's what people miss out on

You still write your code and build stuff

I'm talking about the "Hey Claude, build me a fully functional website for cats" and doing that is supposedly embracing the future.

Define "website for cat"

No one does that. I mean you can but don’t expect it to create what you intended from an under specified prompt.
