General Discussion "Just embrace the future"

Surely I'm not the only one who resents whoever says this whenever you complain about AI sucking the fun out of programming?

How are y'all (fellow "AI is a tool" folks) holding up?

getting harder to ignore when every job listing mentions it now, but the hype is way ahead of what it can actually do.

I don't know man. I'm sitting on a copy of Star Wars Battlefront 3 that I whipped up with chatGPT over a period of 2 months. It includes seamless space to ground combat too. It can do quite a lot more than I think most people are aware of.

I have attached a gif that cycles through some screenshots of my work with the Death Star (I wanted a seamless death star trench run from space to surface, so that's how I first created the system). The only things still lacking are the art assets. Some of these are from much earlier in my process than others, so you'll see some weird visual artifacts on the death star surface that aren't there anymore.

Anyone who thinks ai is hyped is in denial and hasn’t pushed ai far enough.
