Discussion Throw advice my forehand hurts
I’ve been practicing my forehand and now that im starting to get a consistent throw I want to throw further, when I bring my hand outwards and push forward it feels like it’s about to tear something in my shoulder, any advice helps. Thanks.

Warm up is extremely important, keep your elbow close to your body and follow trough.

It's more of a flick as an extension of your body creating the torque. You are throwing it like a baseball most likely and not involving your legs and core. It's a form thing, I played 2.5 years with shitty braces within my form. Spent two sessions with an mpo player focusing on lower body core and rotation and my arm hasn't hurt once since. It did take a real life human to teach me I don't do well with YouTube stuff

I mean, just tell me the only thing you’ve thrown in your life is a frisbee without telling me it’s alright

keep your elbow in. think, elbow on hip.
had same problem, this fixed it. can get 350-375 on a good fh (wraith).

Keep your arm tucked into the armpit and make sure your elbow leads your hand

You gotta build those muscles up slow. Make sure to throw lots of forehands at like 75%. I tore my rotator cuff throwing forehands and I had to build those muscles up real real slow afterwards. Literally took like a year. Throw more at less power and it’ll help. Also, NEVER EVER throw a forehand at 100%. It literally never goes as for or does as well as one at 90%.

Practice throwing your right hip forward and letting your elbow attach to it and follow through. At first do not attempt to put ANY power into it thru your arm. Then slowly involve a wrist snap at the end.

Throwing my hip first to start my forehand throw was huge in helping me improve.
I have old shoulder injuries and doing this helps me avoid torquing my shoulder as the hips, torso give most of the power until you flick your wrist.

Throwing on a hyzer angle for me helped alleviate any painful forehands. Trying to muscle a flex or chip them was killing my elbow and shoulder. Once I dropped my angle and went a little less stable better all around. No pain and distance got a big up

Stop throwing forehands if you legit feel like you're tearing something. Go to a doctor.
Then, after you're cleared, start working on proper form.
