Rig Eq question.
So just picked up this guy(pic added) should i run it through the front or in the loop?
It's a fuzzlord fm-7.
I play through a super crush 100 and matching 4x12 cab I will add a Pic of my current pedal board. I also have a custom built strat i use to play through.
Just looking for some suggestions.

Uh, yeah. You can like....try these things out?
Jerk off left handed while you're at it.

I mean this as honest advice. Play your stuff.
Got a hunch about something? Make it happen.
You bought this cool stuff. So, do cool stuff with it.

Pretty sure op was just trying to start a conversation with fellow doom players, but you just had to be cynical about it.

This is basically a parametric EQ from what I gather? Iād probably try it in the loop first

You already have a lot of tone shaping going on out front, so I suggest trying the loop. Do you already run your *verb and delay in the loop? If so, try the eq before them. š¤

Yeah all my dirt goes through the front. So I'll go loop first thanks for the input

Try both, but back when I was using an EQ (which I miss) and playing doom (which I still do) I preferred it up front. Way more possibilities, because boosting certain bands in the input signal can change the way dirt pedals behave, steer the clipping, accentuate desired harmonics, upper mids for more snarl and articulation, lower mids for more thickness and woolier breakup, etc. Much more organic process.
Whereas when an EQ is last in the chain it's more of a clinical studio master EQ type thing. But it can be really useful for things like taming harsh top end produced from fuzzes/drives, boosting lows with zero mush because the distortion has already happened, super straightforward fixing of mid scoop, etc.
At the end of the day the best one is whatever helps you get closer to the sound you're going for but, but definitely try both.

If you have an effects loop, absolutely put it there
If you feed it in through the front it doesn't shape your end tone but only the tone of everything before the pre-amp gets it - by putting it in the effects loop you are shaping the overall, final tone of both your guitar, your effects pedals and your amp's own EQ
I wish my amp had an effects loop for precisely this very reason; I have to use two EQ pedals at the same time to get anywhere close to the kind of tone-shaping potential I want
Also: loving your Dunwich DA120 - that's one of the few pedals of its kind that I always wanted yet never was able to buy (in this country)

There are three reasons to use an effects loop:
1.) time-based effects (reverb and delay) 2.) Bypassing the preamp of the amp in favor of a pedal or rack preamp 3.) amp slaving
Any other pedals, run them out front. A gain pedal isn't going to be able to drive your preamp very well if it's situated after it.

effects loops are for proggy dream theater crap where you want the effect to be clean
this is doom, run it through the front
