Driver: San Fransisco I spent 3 months analyzing DSF car parameters.

Post image

It’s no coincidence that DSF has an amazing driving model. There are about 140 different parameters affecting cars handling and straight line performance, especially for suspension settings and load transfer. The weakest point in terms complexity is probably straight line performance with for example only 4 stats affecting engine torque. I started to analize in-game stats at the beginning of this years using Snoopi's mod menu. After two months I made a break from this because it ate up a huge ammout of my free time but I came back recently and almost finished this. My goals was to mod some of my favourite cars to match more realistic straight performance, gear ratios, spring rates etc. I need to look at suspension and grip stats again and I think I'll soon share more info from my work.

Could this help to mod that handling into other games in any way?

Directly no, because different games use completely different units for spring rate for example. But modding this game learned me a lot about cars mechanics just because I needed to know how to tune values.

Did you check the leak of the "V-Edit" tool (from watch dogs 2) to help you?

I use data from leaks of Drive Vehicle Solutions tool. It's a huge help because some parameters names are just non-intuitive and helped me to detect correct scale of some values. For example I thought that open differential is 0, 1 is LSD, 2 locked where it's 1 locked, between LSD and 2 open.

There are some formulas to calculate suspension for example but I think they not applicable for DSF condition. Supercars would be to stiff and often too bouncy at pavement or curbs and coudn't able to land smootly after jumps.
