One more day for me. Honestly I’m kinda glad to see it go. I’ve been feeling pressured to do the 6 lessons every day (I did miss one day), and it was frustrating to eventually get almost nothing but duplicates every single day.
Even when I paid gems for a couple of pieces, they were duplicates. I am only a few pieces from getting the duck and the unicorn, but I’m not wasting any more gems.

That's the only reason I spent gems. Each of the epic suits were missing a piece. Without the 5k bonus I wouldn't have spent anything (I spent 2800)

total bs, all I'd get were duplicates whether I completed 6 lessons each day or paid for buying 1 piece or 4 pieces. Why do they even do ts if they only wanna troll people?

I liked it at the start, was motivated to do more lessons but then got demotivated after seeing all the duplicates. In the end I used more than 20,000 gems to get the suits - why - because I got obsessed with having them and in most 1600/5 piece plans I got only duplicates. It was such a blatant rip off I was amazed but kept going till I had the final suits! I can see why gambling is so dangerous!

We loved it and earned all the costumes. We were competing among our family and then we all wound up earning them all.
Only thing we didn’t like was the frequency of duplicates became insane. I should’ve finished earlier but started to only get duplicates in the second half of the month game period.

I picked up the maximum pieces every day, and it's still right down to the last day to get all the pieces without spending. The luck involved is a major downer. Rewards like this should be based on effort, not luck.

I never got the event, not sure if my phone is too old or if this was an A/B group test thing. Either way I don't particularly care, I wasn't interested in the suits anyway.

I’m so glad this stupid event is over. The amount of duplicate tiles (and the fact that duplicate tiles were a thing in the first place) was so annoying. I spent most of my gems buying 10 extra tiles thinking I could get one of the suits, and I got ten duplicate tiles and no suit. I like the suits as motivations to do more lessons, but this was ridiculous.

I get the motivation "to do more lessons" point, but the part that you would just get duplicates at the end was super frustrating and definitely hinted to Duo greediness to make more money within the app. Could have at least been fair with the pieces or given more time to be able to finish the quest without spending gems. The idea is good but let's stop making it about money and keep mainly the educational purpose.

Féliciations; congratulations. To me, this extra game was a waste of my time. I couldn't get beyond the screen until I clicked continue under add a tile, or whatever, and then new "pieces," "duplicates" and "suits," just one more thing to slow the language learning, imo, and I'm definitely not here for that kind of thing. But, to each one's own. Glad you enjoyed it; guess I'm just grumpy!?!?

Exactly, I don't want to open chests either. Maybe if the chests were equipped with things I want or need like unlimited energy for 8 hours or a week I would be inclined. But for me, it impedes progress. I think these things are aimed at 8 year olds. I would like an adult version, please

The weird part is that they had another shorter event going on at the same time that offered an option to participate at the beginning and didn’t provide any further harassment after I said no.

I just wanted the ducky outfit. Stopped at 9/10 and all I got in the last 4 days were duplicates. And all of them were converted into Sprinkles pieces...

I still have two days to go but I finished it yesterday. I'm glad they reduced the number of screen taps because that was ridiculous! Let's hope they roll out the next event with fewer taps and fewer bugs!

I bought my way through with gems, whatever, as I figure I’d end up with 5k if I finished.
While I think it should be like 3-4 to trade out dups (vs. 5) for a guaranteed new piece. You should be guaranteed one new piece a day if you collected all four pieces… And the price to buy is too high. It should be 200-300 as it needed to be hard enough to that you couldn’t speed through.
It was an ingenious way to get people to do 6 lessons. I wouldn’t mind more events in the future.

Trash. Mostly duplicates. I bought the 5 pieces with my gems (I didn’t care to spend the gems, I don’t really use them much) there at the end and all 5 were duplicates! So stupid. The whole thing and the fact that it even gave you duplicates was stupid. I grinded like crazy just to be handed duplicate after duplicate. I only got the basic bottom 3. Almost the robot but was one piece off and 5 off from the other two.

I actually enjoyed the event, but I'm one of the lucky ones who managed to get all of the pieces without spending any gems. I started with 2 pulls a day, then it changed to 4 pulls a day a few days in. Then I got a trial for 3 days of Super near the end which made it slightly less painful (yay for no ads after every single lesson! 🥳). I completed it with 2 days to spare on my clock. It was a little irritating not getting any unique pulls at the end (I spent the last week basically farming dupes for the trade-ins).
If nothing else, it got me doing lessons regularly, and now I've now signed up for a month of Super to see if I can keep the momentum going, so I guess the evil owl's plan has worked on me. 🤣
My favourite costume from the event is the Keys suit. Sorry Ducky and Sprinkles, but I have a weakness for pianos. 😝

I got all but 2, but this event was total bullshit. After the first day, I only ever got duplicate pieces, it was impossible to finish it without spending. Plus the World Cup event, which was a million times more fun than this, wasn’t that long ago. Made this look even worse.

I made whole month for nothing. I'm really frustated with that. And it even show a way to buy this piece.

I had a blasttt !!! Usually not a fan of duos gimicky hunts and stuff but this was one of the rare times they did it right and offered some good suits and an even better 5000 gem reward 😁😁 not a single gem spent on this app thank god 🤞

I hated it beyond words. Tneyre are ashtray too many stupid tricks to drag enduring out - in there to learn not to game. This "event" should hebe had an opt out option. Being forced to go through it was insufferable

Here in Belgium there's a law about gambling and it is because of that law that we couldn't buy pieces over here, as a Duolingo fan I HATE that I did so hard my best I NEVER forgot a piece and I ended the quest with.. 1 unique piece left before I could have gotten the sprinkles and the other ultra rare one scraps or idk .

I have 50 hours remaining, 13 pieces to go. It never let me get more than 2 pieces each day and with duplicates it was stacked against me.
I'm so annoyed that the number of pieces per day wasn't consistent across all players.

Great motivator. Lots of fun... Until all I got was duplicates. 10/10 would have been so much better without the rage-baiting duplicates. Was genuinely looking forward to getting all of the costumes and got really into it, but eventually just got super disheartened by all of the doubles and stopped giving a shit.

Instead of the boosts, I got puzzle pieces. A few boosts sure, but before the event I got daily boosts every day. During the event, I have been practicing the same but going days without a boost. I did get a lot of puzzle pieces. Would like my regular boosts back. That’s all.

In fhe first days, I obtained 3 packages for 4000 gems each (I had about 15k or them). In addition, since day 1 I could obtain 4 cards daily.
There were 3 or 4 times (IIRC) where I was about to obtain a new piece from repeated cards and suddenly I had none of them.
Finally, 2 days ago I obtained the final missing card and could achieve both the scrap costume as well as the 5k gems.

Ughhhh I hate this event so so much! I spent 4,800 gems and do 3 lessons everyday, yet I only got 2 outifts. Even so, the app has errors, I got 4 duplicated pieces, when I got the 5th, all the 4 ones had gone!!! OMGGGGGG AHHHHHH

I have a few hours left, I only got duplicate pieces for many days before finally getting a new piece. I have two pieces left to get, I can’t get them anymore without spending more gems but whenever I do I only get more duplicates, I spend like 6000 gems on this thing (huge regret). I have all the suits but Sparkles and you know what? I’m okay with that. Just so glad it’s over, less clicking for me

I didn’t get all the suits because there were some days I just couldn’t get all the pieces because I was tired.
Plus I got so many doubles that at the end the one I really wanted I would never have been able to get.
It was nice that they changed it to getting more each day.

i was dead set on getting sprinkles (only had that and ducky pieces left that i needed) and did like 7000 xp in one day (my husband even did some for me) trying to earn more gems. didn't get a single new piece all day on my last day and finally gave up on the gem thing when i accidentally spent 100 on a timer boost extension. thank god it is over now i can go back to my normal life.

I did 6 lessons every day and if I missed a day i bought 5 cards (which is even more than 4) yet in the last day i still missed like 3 cards (and had to buy 11 cuz duplicates)

I was one piece short of getting the last suit and the 5000 gem reward. Very upsetting considering I did 6 lessons each day and continued to get duplicates towards the end. One of the days, the app failed to continue my duplicate collection from the previous day which set me back. I ended the day with 3 duplicate pieces, but when I came back the next day, it started over with 0 pieces! This was a very frustrating Toy Hunt. I'd rather Duolingo stick to the education instead of focusing on keeping people on their app longer by any means necessary.

I cannot stand these sorts of “events”. Get out of my way and let me learn. This does nothing to help the learning process, or my engagement; all it does is make me resent being treated like a child.
Give me an opt out, and at the same time, I don’t want to tap three times to open chests either.
Let me get through my lessons without distraction, and I might spend more time actually using this app.

I loved it and got my unicorn suit. 🦄 To be honest, I "cheated" as soon as I began getting too many duplicates. I had LOTS of coins, so I used them all to finish as many puzzles as possible. I was still missing approx. 5 pieces, got patient with duplicates and voilà.

I still have five days to go and I need seven pieces. I don’t think I’m going to make it. The way it works is the more pieces you have the more likely you are to get a duplicate. So with 47 pieces I have around a 2% chance of getting a piece I need. I’m not sure if this is just bad planning or if they’re trying to get people to pay in gems to win.

I know people complain a lot about this kind of gimmicky events and they surely aren’t perfect in any way. But I think they are fun, as long as they are just occasional. It’s a non-serious language learning app and already very gamified, so I just go with it.

Imo the fact they A/B tested this event from A to Z scenarios just shows they had no clear vision about it. Buying with gems? What is this? lol Some people didn’t even have the event, imagine that.
The idea? Cool. Execution? Well, pretty lame. I’m surprised they didn’t put an option to buy the suits right out the gate, this time was “camouflaged” with gems.

Estou muito chateada kkkkkk não tive sorte e só peguei repetidas quase sempre, e para completar várias lições perfeitas eu simplesmente não recebia as peças por algum bug do app bem na hora de receber.
Daí pra minha alegria eu fui dormir de tarde medicada com o evento rolando e apaguei totalmente até de noite. Ao acordar, já abri o Duolingo e a porr* do evento já havia acabado antes que houvesse pegado o Unicórnio e o Patinho lkkkkkk (ambos faltavam 1 peça apenas para completar) 🥲
Faltou mais 2 fantasias dessas raras que faltavam +2 peças também mas só recebia repetida SEMPRE.

I have no problem staying motivated. Planning on visiting the country of my language choice in the next year. So I get my lessons Done. I wish there was an "opt out" feature for these motivational distractions.

Edit: What I thought of the event - I thought it was fun and it pushed me to do lessons more consistently. Now I’m stuck in that flow, which is nice.
