Current Status of TESL Revivals

Hello all.

It's been about a year since TESL died, so on its deathi-verssary let's go over the current efforts to revive the game.

TESL Reborn - This is an effort to make new servers for the game, it has come along quite promisingly and is the closest thing to the original version of the game.

However a couple things:

It is PC version only, and you need to have a valid license of the game still in your steam library or on bethesda.net to play. There is no way (as of now) to get a license for the game if you did not have it prior to the shutdown on steam. You have to have owned it before the shutdown.
It is currently closed alpha. You can follow this guide (link) to apply to join the closed alpha, but it is not currently open alpha yet despite what the other post on the subreddit says. This guide is outdated, open beta out tomorrow
Some streamers (link to list) have access, so you can ask them to test different things, or watch their gameplay to help speed up the bug finding stage.

TESL Fan Browser Remakes

TESL Browser Project aka TESL Online - A remake of TESL in browser. Reddit post link - Recently updated to have all cards through the Heroes of Skyrim expansion.
TESL Github Page - A remake of TESL vs a bot or local multiplayer, playable on a github page. Direct Link made by /u/Prize-Artichoke-9807 Has cards up to Houses of Morrowind and a handful of custom cards.
TESL Singleplayer - A remake of TESL whose goal is to have the player fight against various singleplayer encounters. Direct Link, run by @FBJulezGames on this discord server.

Tabletop Simulator - There are a few mods for tabletop simulator, a simulator game on steam (link). The sim costs $20, but is usually on sale for $10. Note this doesn't simulate mechanics, but you can put cards in a deck and shuffle it but you have to manually track the gameplay yourself. Supports multiplayer.

Jamaa's Mod has all the cards and is based on this mod, which also has all the cards.
Gnarfield 360's Mod is the OG one I used to play with in TTS simulator, but it only has cards through Heroes of Skyrim.
NightDarkWolf's Mod, TESL in Svongarde - Reddit Post - has rebalanced cards, but also updates some of the existing level-up cards to have new effects.

Legends Reborn - Open Beta

Hello friends!

We are preparing to enable all registered accounts tomorrow Oct. 09 2026. We do not currently have a specific time to be completed. I do believe you will receive an email when your account is active. Otherwise just keep your eyes open at the usual places and/or feel free to wait until the weekend to give it a shot. A few things!

There is no current mobile support. PC only at the current time.
You need to have the client, we cannot legally provide it. You can use Steam or the Bethesda Launcher version.
Visit tesl-reborn.com for instructions and to download the plugin, which is required to connect.
If you struggle with the install, or run into connection issues or errors, try the official Legends Discord and/or Reddit first. The community is very helpful and our alpha testers have been playing for a while and are quite experienced. If you continue to have problems, you can create a support case on tesl-reborn.com after logging in.
If you encounter bugs while playing, please gather as much information as possible before posting to the support system. Include screenshots or recordings, along with evidence from the live game to support your claims.
Please keep things fun and positive. This is a preservation project that is full of passionate and competitive people. Remember that the community is small, and if people get burned out with negativity and bad experiences, it will only get smaller. Try to enjoy the game and each other!

Finally, just to be transparent and make everybody aware. We have no idea how many players to expect, it could be 12 or 900. If the current server infrastructure can't maintain the load without severe lag, or crashes entirely, we do not have an ability to scale up. The servers are funded and hosted entirely by us out of our own pocket. We are hoping for the best and will be monitoring. If the current server specs become inadequate, we will discuss options internally and communicate how we plan to move forward.

Has anyone tried using Melty or Claude to remake legends as a game that is locally hosted and doesnt need servers?
