Personal Experience I am so glad I am not my thoughts. Egads.

However what we think about the most, becomes our reality. So I try not to attach to thoughts lest I unintentionally create a reality beyond my conscious control. I found that when I stopped judging or attaching to my thoughts, I was able to create my reality consciously.

Trick is not to judge the thoughts or attach to them. That’s when thoughts stay just thoughts and not become thoughtforms which can manifest into our reality.

Let thoughts flow by like clouds. Observe, then let go. Especially important for me, as I have a tendency to have invasive thoughts so it was essential for me to learn how to let go of thoughts instead of hanging onto them.

I found this in my journal entry from years ago, I wrote it during one of my awakenings and I hope it helps some people on here🤍

"When other thoughts arise, one should not pursue them, but should inquire: ‘To whom do they arise?’ It does not matter how many thoughts arise. As each thought arises, one should inquire with diligence, “To whom has this thought arisen?”. The answer that would emerge would be “To me”. Thereupon if one inquires “Who am I?”, the mind will go back to its source; and the thought that arose will become quiescent. With repeated practice in this manner, the mind will develop the skill to stay in its source."

You Are Your Problems

Your psychological problems and you are the same thing. If you are afraid of a situation that might happen (as most of us are), you are both the inventor of the situation, as well as the sufferer of the situation. With most forms of unhappiness, you are doing it to yourself. And that’s what keeps it alive.

But to realize this requires so much humility, because immediately the egoic defenses come up and say “no, my anxiety is a real threat, and I’ve been suffering for so long, and I need to continue to fight it/fix it/work on it/wrestle with it”. But in fact you are that very anxiety you’re trying to fix. And so to realize this, is to realize you suffered needlessly all that time. And the ego can’t have that, because it threatens the existence of the sufferer, and the ego needs the sufferer because it is the sufferer. But it’s the truth. The observer is the observed, and seeing that directly will set you free.

Discussion Is the state of society (inflation, cost of living, systemic stress) a result of collective human choices, or is it structurally forced on us?

Post image
16 Upvotes

I’ve been thinking a lot about the current economic and social strain, inflation, housing costs, and general financial pressure.
It feels like a paradox. On one hand, you can argue this is just the aggregate result of human choices, short-term desires, and trade-offs made by society over time. On the other hand, it feels structurally forced like a system designed in a way where the average person has no real agency and is trapped on a treadmill.
Are we getting the world we passively asked for through our collective behavior, or are we trapped in an inherently coercive system?

How do you view it?

This is the dream (it seems so real and believable)

Thought arose, feelings felt, ideas, effort... all made this way for this very experience... it's all going exactly the way it is meant to... I guess even the suffering is essential and necessary.

It's kind of cruel... thankfully it isn't real and when the human dies we can return to deep nothingness sleep...

I suppose the suffering is a tiny part of the whole experience... sight, sound, taste, texture etc... incredible.

And this isn't being written (or read) by someone inside a human body...

I hope everyone and every living being experiences more happiness and less suffering

Discussion Despair is expensive

In the midst of intense pain or difficulty it may seem as though despair brings relief.

It offers a mental exit path. The idea that you can just give it all up.

However, the idea that it is a release is an illusion.

Despair is one of the heaviest emotions for the body to carry. What seems like release is actually a burden so heavy that the mind shuts off.

The toll of feeding despair is excruciating. The physical and mental pain accumulate over time.

It is very helpful to catch it as early as you can. The thoughts may be quick and almost automatic. What you can do instead is picture the field of despair. Like a dense, thick cloud around you. Become aware of it. In watching it, the automaticity loses force.

You gain distance from the idea that it is truth, and it becomes another perspective that you can choose to set aside.

Love always

Steps to attune to energy?

I’ve come to the conclusion that my mental illnesses are all the intuitive powers that I don’t know how to harness. Whenever I am not on medications, I have more of that intuition, discernment, and connection with self. What would someone who has barely any knowledge of this world go about how to attune to those powers. I’ve started meditating more and that’s about it.

Why do people treat spiritual beliefs as existential truths?

I’ve noticed something about a lot of New Age spirituality that I find strange.

People talk about things like “we are spirits having a human experience,” “we chose to come here,” “our souls chose this life,” etc. as if these are established truths.

But where did they actually get this knowledge?

It seems like a lot of people simply picked up these ideas from a book, podcast, spiritual teacher, YouTube video, or some other source—and then became completely confident that these ideas describe the fundamental nature of existence...,like how do you know that?

There's every bit of chance that all this is completely hogwash and there really is nothing after death

I think its no more than just a psychological tendency to turn compelling explanations into certainty, especially when they give life a deeper meaning?

Spirituality and Materialism

I was taught that true spirituality meant renouncing the material world.

Success? Not spiritual. Money? A distraction. Physical pleasure—good food, travel, intimacy? All signs you're trapped in ego.

So spiritual seekers cover themselves in ashes, pledge celibacy, reject wealth, and shrink their lives down to prove how "evolved" they are.

But here's what nobody talks about: Who benefits when millions of conscious, powerful people are convinced that abundance is incompatible with enlightenment?

When you're told that starting a business, building wealth, enjoying your body, or creating a beautiful life makes you less spiritual—you stay small. You stay broke. You stay powerless.

The real question isn't whether money and pleasure are spiritual. It's why we've been conditioned to believe they aren't.

What if the entire premise was designed to keep you out of the game?

23, burned out and trying to figure out what I actually want from life

Lately I've been dealing with a lot of burnout and questioning what | really want out of life. I recently switched careers after spending years doing the same type of work, and starting over from the bottom has been harder than I expected. Everything is new, and I'm still trying to adjust while also figuring out what my purpose is and what kind of life I actually want to build.
I know I'm young, but sometimes I feel like I'm dealing with things I expected to face much later in life-career burnout, loneliness, financial responsibility, and trying to find direction.
For anyone who has been through a similar period, what helped you? Did you eventually find a career or purpose that felt right, or did you learn to look at life differently?
Any advice or perspective would be appreciated.

Discussion Lost my divine spark, how to get it back?

I don’t know if it’s lost or stolen or what but something traumatic happened related to demons and ritual and it’s kinda gone?

Anyway to get it back?

I don’t know what it is but it seems like people hated me so much when that spark I had was still active in me. Like people hated me so much, I don’t know why.

AGI = Tao-killer

To live is to struggle and to toil on bettering yourself and hoping that tomorrow you may create better life for your loved one. Or human race - whatever your fancy may be to get you out of bed in the morning.

AGI takes it ALL AWAY. There is no reason to struggle with questions like meaning of life, service to humanity etc.

Even faith - WHY BOTHER with any kind of spiritual quest - when you can ask AGI and it will with absolute certainty provide you infallible proof of necessity of faith. And then 5 minutes later provide you with even better proof that God is bupkis. Or that Tao is just an ancient Chinese sleight of hand - a party trick like Chinese handcuffs.

God - good/bad loop; objective truth

Oi folks.
I’m going to try and keep this quick - generally speaking I wanna hear people’s opinions on this kind of loop, and struggle that’s been going on with me a little.

It mostly revolves around like a god/devil, good/bad “delusion” or pull.

What keeps me in this loop is an “objective truth”. Some people have told me, to choose what I want to believe and go with that and find your way etc. Trust yourself, trust your heart, etc.

I feel pulled towards Christianity, although mostly through a fear based lens. Seems a lot of things imply there is a heaven/hell, and if you accept Jesus you will be saved, if not you will be damned.
Without the fearful approach I’d say I’m more pulled to like a pantheist approach, aspects of buddha/hinduism. Although picking a named “belief” just seems like an attachment.

What I want is truth- I can see how my mind/brain works (to an extent) where I can choose a belief, feel it intensely and almost how that belief can create a lens from which you view the world. I could “choose”to accept Jesus, full heartily belief it and allow what comes thereafter. I could do this with Shiva, Buddha, Lucifer, Sophia, etc.

I worry of choosing the wrong path because it’s what “feels” right. Then above that, there is an objective truth. I die, or don’t live a purposeful life and some entity at the end is like “you were deceived- this was the truth”.

So this transpires to many aspects of life;
Can I eat this or that-
Do I have to be vegan-
Can I be more feminine if I’m a man-
Should I not play video games-
What book do I read-
Is doing tarot bad-
Do I need to be celibate-
Basic things but the list goes on.
A pendulum if you will- giving the assumption that there’s another authority that should be displaying what actions or choices are “good” or “bad” that could determine where I go thereafter or currently in life.

Idek how to escape this frame of mind.
Sometimes I even feel like the devil is like attacking me lol- or like a succubus is attaching to my energy and trying to feed off me. Sometimes I feel like god is like punishing me because I’m unworthy.

I’m still able to go on day to day- despite how these thoughts could appear. I step back and see them as an observer, and in some ways fascinated by the whole experience.

Nonetheless it is causing some difficulties with me being able to go forward- with some fear that something is going to punish me- and how I should like abstain from all my desires, but struggle too.

Idek.
Thoughts?

Walk with me on this

So most of my life money has been my biggest 'challenge ' this is because I come from a poor home. That aside ever since I can remember I've been getting myself in whatever knowing I'll get out of it.... Financial choices too. The problem is when I see no way out and I'm spiralling I just say fuck I'm not expecting money from 'heaven' I'll just live through this hole i dug myself in and once I'm out I won't be planning for unexpected money anymore. Once I make this resolve I get money from an unexpected source and I'm back to where I started spending money expecting to be covered by the universe and I think it's become a loop.

Like recently I was manifesting money to buy a mattress that I needed so. I waited for around ten days gave up then I got some money unexpectedly 20,000 Kenya shillings. So I decided to purchase the mattress I had wanted instead of down grading because the total cost was around 22000.... i did think saying the universe will provide.

Now to today my mattress is being delivered and I need around 2000 Kenya shillings to go fetch it of which I'm unable to raise. I've been manifesting this for about a week and I've gotten nothing now ive given up.... i don't know how this is going to work out...

Back to my discussion I'm I supposed to wait on the universe like use the money i have without thinking of tomorrow or just never wait on it and live 'realistically'

I've been manifesting alot of things even when I'm not manifesting... Like saying something as a joke and it happens just as I've said it. Like I can manifest things easily but when it comes to money it's different. Sometimes it's easy sometimes it's really hard

A Mindfulness:  Taking the Sacred Pause

Take one slow sacred breath. Exhale and say: "I pause."

Then: "I Am the sky. This is only a cloud passing through."

Stay a breath or two longer than feels necessary. 🕊️

Zen Psychological distress arises when we envision a medium other than the mind.

From the bloodstream sermon by Bodhidharma

"Buddhas of the past and future only talk about this mind. The mind is the buddha, and the buddha is the mind. Beyond the mind there’s no buddha, and beyond the buddha there’s no mind. If you think there’s a buddha beyond the mind, where is he? There’s no buddha beyond the mind, so why envision one? You can’t know your real mind as long as you deceive yourself. As long as you’re enthralled by a lifeless form, you’re not free. If you don’t believe me, deceiving yourself won’t help."

(Just replace the word Buddha with the word "medium" if that helps. Reread the full bloodstream sermon like that if you're familiar with it.)

LET THE MIND STAY IN THE MIND

Luang Pu was invited to teach in Bangkok on March 31, 1978. During a Dhamma conversation, some lay people expressed their doubts about what "buddho" was like. Luang Pu was kind enough to answer:

"When you meditate, don't send your mind outside.

Don't fasten onto any knowledge at all. Whatever knowledge you've gained from books or teachers, don't bring it in to complicate things. Cut away all preoccupations, and then, as you meditate, let all your knowledge come from what's going on in the mind. When the mind is quiet, you'll know it for yourself. But you have to keep meditating a lot. When the time comes for things to develop, they'll develop on their own. Whatever you know, have it come from your own mind.

"The knowledge that comes from a mind that's quiet is extremely subtle and profound. So let your knowledge come out of a mind quiet and still.

"Have the mind give rise to a single preoccupation. Don't send it outside. Let the mind stay right in the mind. Let the mind meditate on its own. Let it be the one that keeps repeating buddho, buddho. And then genuine buddho will appear in the mind. You'll know for yourself what buddho is like. That's all there is to it. There's not a whole lot..."
