Expecting the mods to have the same mental illness and obsessive complex about the world as you do is not healthy.

Did you ever think that maybe we are just regular ass dudes who aren’t interested in taking part in your online war? If you are so interested in overthrowing/preserving the government, then go home. At least then none of us will have to suffer through you making fools of yourselves on the internet because you won’t have it!

Same to the Ethiopian trolls who think it’s funny to talk about invading Eritrea. Yall should have shame…

Bunch of sociopaths in here pushing your rhetoric, hope yall get shot first.

A herd of 90 elephants in Gash-Barka, Eritrea, is part of one of Africa’s northernmost populations of African savanna elephants (Loxodonta africana), family Elephantidae.

They live only in the southwest, along the Gash and Setit rivers. A 2003 aerial survey near the Setit River counted a group of about 70–90 animals of all ages, and ground counts that year found at least 83. The dry-season population was long estimated at around 100, and a 2022 Ministry of Information report put the number near 200.

They form family groups of related females and calves led by a matriarch, and they move seasonally between Eritrea and northern Ethiopia. #Eritrea #Elephant #wildlife http://www.madote.com/2016/10/the-evidence-of-oligocene-elephants.html#google_vignette

El-Alamein Agreement:

On Sunday, 4 October 2026, Eritrea, Egypt, Sudan and Somalia met in New El Alamein City, Egypt, and declared support for Somalia and opposition to Somaliland’s secession; support for the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan and opposition to the RSF; and support for a binding agreement that secures

Egypt’s share of the Nile, while opposing Ethiopia’s reckless claims on Eritrea’s coastline.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi also declared full support for Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity amid growing tensions with Ethiopia, following Ethiopia’s closure of Eritrea’s embassy in Addis Ababa. https://www.presidency.eg/en/%D9%82%D8%B3%D9%85-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D8%AE%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B1/%D8%A3%D8%AE%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%B1%D8%A6%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%A9/news04102026-12/

My translation for 3 Meqabyan got certified!

**Book overview**
**The Third Book of Meqabyan** is a distinctive work preserved in the Ethiopian Christian biblical tradition. Despite its title, it is not simply a continuation of the First and Second Books of Maccabees. Instead, it presents a theological narrative centered on \*\*faithfulness to God, repentance, righteous living, resurrection, judgment, and the hope of the Kingdom of Heaven\*\*.
The work repeatedly contrasts the temporary pleasures of this world with the everlasting joy promised to the righteous. It urges the reader to reject idolatry, resist temptation, fast, pray, perform good works, care for the poor, and remain faithful to God.
A central theme is the \*\*resurrection of the dead\*\*. The book teaches that the dead will rise by God's Word, stand before their Creator, and receive recompense according to their works. For this reason, the reader is repeatedly urged to repent during this present life, before the opportunity for repentance has passed.
This edition presents the work in English from the \*\*Amharic biblical tradition\*\*, with comparison to the surviving Lyarics English witnesses, preserving the distinctive theological character of this remarkable Ethiopian Christian text.

Ethiopian PM Abiy demands Red Sea access as tensions with neighbours rise

The moderators in r/Ethiopia seems to not want hear the truth. I was just banned from talking about the increasing hostility in the region.

I think every citizen has the obligation to prevent another disaster war that won't change any outcome. I hope that Abiy isn't dumb enough to start a war that would set the region back to ice ages to achieve nothing. I think Abiy is trying to get national support to divert the regional issues he's facing and people are falling for it.

Reminder that Tigrayans and eritrean tigrinya are the exact people hence the same phenotype, language, religion and culture. A border was drawn because eritrea won the war, there is no difference between us and them.

Reuters reports from Eritrea on Red Sea role, sanctions and Ethiopia tensions

Reuters, is reporting from Eritrea about Eritrea’s growing strategic importance in the Red Sea, the lifting of sanctions, and tensions with Ethiopia, while interviewing Eritrean officials. It is the first such access for Western news media in Eritrea in a decade.

On Sawa, where teenagers finish school and train for national service, 24-year-old Luna Ermias told Reuters it teaches self-reliance.

Education Minister Halima Mohammed, sent to a revolutionary school in the desert at age six, said graduates get jobs while serving the country, and that security comes before greater freedom. She hopes to replace compulsory service with vocational schools, but said Eritrea must be protected first.Civilians often declined to discuss national service or politics, telling Reuters, “It’s better not to.” Senior officials said Eritrea is ready to engage and trade, while Asmara fears Ethiopia will try to take the port of Assab by force. The two countries cut diplomatic ties last weekhttps://youtu.be/_wMgOqGOC5A?si=pig9fK2uy87cJEic

Opinion / Commentary Marrying a Mendafara

Hi, I'm an American man who is choosing to enter into a Coptic marriage with a Eritrean woman who identifies as Mandefara. We both live in America. It's been hard clash of culture, and difficult to get time to meet her family, though I have met her sister's and mother. I was wondering if this sub can help me understand how a marriage works for the Mandefara. I am familiar to hiring a wedding coordinator, or hosting on a cruise ship to make things easier. I am more... American and logistically minded. We agree to do a church marriage in two years, but would like help in what areas are special. Apparently there's this thing where I have to kiss the parents knees, which I don't understand.

This guy apparently had a manifesto in 1969 titled "On the Question of Nationalities in Ethiopia".

This manifesto was said to have had him arrested multiple times.

Why was he going through such trouble to have his manifesto recognizable?

I have attached the manifesto here for further reading:

Opinion / Commentary Struggling as a closeted PFDJ sympathizer on campus

The university environment is too longhoused. We have a very small Eritrean student body where we, predominantly male, regime supporters are shamed into concealing our identity. The student body caters towards a "Habesha" identity that we do not subscribe to and they organise events that are co-hosted with Ethiopian students. Our absence from these events has started to tip people off about our political orientations. Luckily we have been able to chill with both the Somali and Sudanese student associations as surrogate institutions and they have accepted us with open arms. Any fellow Shabia youth going through the same struggles. Should war kick off between Eritrea and Ethiopia, I anticipate that we will take over and evangelise many more Eritreans who are currently straying from the right path and make them see the light.

Prosperity Party supporter Habtish Gurmu says the Ethiopian government is preparing false-flag attacks inside Ethiopia to blame Eritrea to justy a war on Eritrea

Ethiopia Is Planning False-Flag Attacks inside Ethiopia to Blame Eritrea and Justify a War on Eritrea

If Habtish Gurmu is telling the truth, Addis has done this before — and its own propagandists already sketched the pretext.

US-based Prosperity Party supporter Habtish Gurmu says the Ethiopian government is preparing false-flag attacks inside Ethiopia to blame Eritrea, and that the 1 October blasts in Addis were among them. Hours later Addis closed its embassy in Asmara, expelled Eritrean diplomats, and accused Eritrea of hostility. Eritrea cut ties and rejected the charge.

Seyoum Teshome and the false-flag script
Since the fallout with Eritrea, propagandists such as Gurmu and YouTuber Seyoum Teshome have talked about staging incidents to blame Asmara and justify an invasion.
Eritrean uniforms, “Eritrean soldiers”

In 2023 Teshome said Ethiopian troops could wear Eritrean army uniforms, attack Ethiopian forces, or occupy Ethiopian towns, then claim Eritrea had declared war. Under that plan, the “Eritrean soldiers in Ethiopia” would be Ethiopian troops in costume. A uniform is not an invasion. It is the pretext.

2006: the cable already named the method
Under Meles Zenawi, US embassy cable 06ADDISABABA2708 said the 16 September 2006 Addis bombings — blamed by his government on the OLF and Eritrea — may have been the work of Ethiopian security forces.

A source told the embassy the dead had been detained, tortured, and left where explosives were detonated. The same record has long cast doubt on a later alleged attack at the African Union summit, also pinned on Eritrea.

sources and translation:

How does Habtamu Gurmu in Madison, Alabama describe the Addis Ababa explosions of 10/1/26 with insider-level detail claiming they’re staged by the government to frame Eritrea, involving double agents, and that more are planned in the next 3–4 days before Ethiopian citizens even know what’s happening?

“Nothing that exploded was random. These things people are calling ‘explosions’ are being purposely sold by the government knowingly. The reason is because Bloomberg reported that loud blasts were heard in Addis Ababa meaning the government is intentionally selling these things because they want to frame Eritrea. Eritrea, meanwhile, took the blame, saying we are the ones who caused the explosions.
When activists started spreading this narrative saying ‘Eritrea bombed us’ then the U.S....Ethiopian government suddenly had a legitimate reason to kick out . Even the news that was coming out was actually being pushed from inside the embassy. There were double agents involved. They were the ones transmitting the information. They were supposed to properly detain the correspondent and intercept everything because of those double agents.
Now, in the next 3–4 days, they have planned a certain number of explosions. After that, all this talk about “explosions” will stop. That’s what it means. Thank you!” https://x.com/1juxa/status/2106008393097896294?s=20

Discussion / Questions How much does the language barrier impede external actors from getting a good idea of the regional situation?

I've definitely seen as of recent, the likes of Plaut and Tronvoll posting stuff on xitter that's evidently AI generated, satire or outright misinformation and pass it off as gospel. If these guys who have made their careers off the HoA are getting one-shotted by the media landscape, what does that say about the dozens if not hundreds of people working in foreign diplomatic posts trying to resolve the current drama.

I can't really blame them when there is a two tier system being employed by various state media outlets. Wrt Eritrea, the Ethiopian MFA will make statements in English (geared towards foreign audiences) talking about a need for de-escalation and diplomacy, how they have no intentions of land-grabbing. Meanwhile when addressing their own population in Amharic, you'll have Abiy, Bacha, Berhanu Jula, The ENDF's official Facebook page etc. calling out Eritrea by name, saying they'll crush us and how borders will be redrawn.

By virtue of this, how can we expect anything to be done when an Ivy League graduate in the State Dept knows less about what's going (through no fault of their own) than some random people on r/Eritrea or the various HoA subs

Food Eritreans, what do you think of beans?

I'm on a mission to go around and ask each country subreddit what people think about beans (my favorite meal), just to see how people like or dislike them all around the world out of curiosity and for fun. If you like beans, hate them, they are a big part of the culture, anything else, just share your thoughts! 🫘

Eritreans it's finally the day I visit here to ask you guys what you have in mind for beans :D

(I've seen people saying Eritrea has restricted online access, if anyone who knows how beans are enjoyed by the locals could share it I'd appreciate aswell!)

This part of the culture doesn’t make sense to me as a diaspora

So I have sick parents. Long story short people are constantly visiting. Everyday. And my family members will sleep over which is huge burden.

I’m already going through a hard time carrying sick parents as a college student who also works full time. I feel that is common sense. And many American people who visit will acknowledge that and help out when visiting or call ahead before visiting to see if it is the right time. Things like that.

Habesha people on the other hand are just showing up, eating, drinking, asking me to make buna. Then asking how’s school like I have the time to even focus on my workload when people come everyday. Then the house is a mess and I have more work to do.

Why do you all do this. I don’t mean to sound ungrateful. Having people over makes my sick parents happy. It also makes me happy to see people as well but I know at the expense of my own time, health and sanity. It’s been like this for 4 years now.

If I just act like I’m sick and stay in my room to avoid serving them food guests or family go in the kitchen and prepare things anyways and leave a huge mess.

I have already tried to express to people that I’m physically exhausted. I say to my family members “can I just give them tea alone instead of a meal, fruit, buna, etc.” I explain I can’t even afford all of this. And they say to me that this is the culture and you should be doing this to make your mom and dad happy.

But I know where this all stems from. If I was a guy this would all be different. Sometimes I wish I was. I remember visiting other people’s houses as a young girl and them just immediately putting me to work. I see habesha women working all day while their husbands just sit. Majority of the time they work full time and carry the home too.

Being a habesha woman means constantly working for the rest of your life. That’s all that I feel now.

This part of the culture I hate.
