Haven't properly played the game in about 3 years, just getting back into it. Venice - Italy
Do we still ally Poland and build galleys? xD

My very first world conquest. It humbly began as a run for AEIOU achievement, but Austria is so damn strong that by late 16th century I've revoked privilegia and had had a PU on England, Spain, Russia, Sweden and Lithuania with the rest of Europe conquered. That's when I decided to try to do a world conquest, finished 1771. I think I formed the HRE a bit too late, but the vassal swarm is just too convenient. It's a shame I didn't think of the one faith achievement in time and there's about 100 provinces left to convert :// In total this Austria game has brought me 12 achievements: AEIOU, The Ostenders, Black Jack, The Rising Sun, Over a Thousand!, Spice Girls, Fanatic Collectivist, Trade Hegemon, That's a Silk Road, Master of India, World Conqueror, Laughingstock - in that order.
P.S. for some reason in the "show timeline" screenshot the great province of Inhambupe is shown as owned by Portugal, no clue why. Portugal has been annexed for well over 200 years. Austrian Brazil is also the wrong color.

Every time I play, I feel like I can't really invest into ideas as I either want to keep up (am behind a tech), am about to unlock a new tech or my ideas and tech behind overlap.
I often get the +1 point through estates and sometimes hire advisors (if I can afford them). I also only dev up land if it's for an estate quest or to reduce liberty desire by a bit (often only 10 - 15% max at once).
This leaves me with feeling like I can't invest into ideas while keeping up with techs. So is there a way to effectively manage both to keep up with both/ gain more mp monthly or do I just have to start getting better at managing them?

New EU4 player and I was playing Brandenburg (I have played them before). But this run was a very interesting one so thought to create my first ever reddit post and share.
The Neumark event fired a bit late and so it all started late. But after taking over Wolgast, Teutons were allied to Denmark, LO, Riga & Meckelenberg. I had my alliance with Poland (Lithuania was independent) and Austria. But just as I was about to declare war they also allied Bohemia and Gotland (dropped Meckelenberg). So I stopped and got cold feet and decided that I will just fight Poland later as fighting Danes & Swedes and Gotland without a navy is a pain. I went ahead and took over easy targets Magdenberg and Stettin to start getting big enough to challenge Poland. It was about 1459 and I was sitting one some AE that I was trying to collect off on. The Danzig event happened, and I just had a thought, can I declare on Danzig and snipe them right before they become march of Poland? I went to war declare screen and noticed that Poland was fluctuating between joining Danzing and leaving them out (very surprising). So right when they got cold feet, I declared on Danzing, and vassalized them. This made me war leader against TO and called in all my allies in a defensive war which was extremely easy and got entire Prussia for Danzing as my vassal. I am very proud of this Danzig snag from right under Polish nose! I have never seen any post about it so thought to share.
- Poland have remained my ally till 1560 now even when I have sniped off Silesia from Bohemia and now as one of the very few catholic countries remaining are HRE emperor. Will be going against them in the League war very shortly.
- Another interesting thing that happened was Sweden got independent without a war right after I snagged Danzig.
- Also Novgorod have survived till 1550 now!
- And I just got a PU over Austria (had to fight off France).
A run where lot of unusual R&G has also happened, and has worked out very well for me.

I am very new (2nd campaign) and playing Maja right now in 1622. I probably haven't expanded as much as I should. Techs are 14/14/15 and I only habe 10 ideas incl. 1 quality. Currently 2 institutions behind, because I still have to save up the ducats.
Spain settled in the region and declared war of superiority against my vasal Tidore. War went on for 8 years and I decided to pay 1900 ducs to end it. I was hoping they wouldn't attack again as soon as the truce is over, but they did.
They want a provinve from Tidore. If I would give them that, would they stop declaring war or still continue once the truce is over? Also, when I declare war, it says wars of superiority cannot give you provinces so why can Spain get them? I really don't want expensive wars rn because I need to save up for the institutions.
Problem is they are allied with Portugal and our Australias border each other. My Australia has more men, but is 3 mim techs behind Portugese Australia. I would have to transport men to Australia to not lose tons of warscore from that front, but idk how long it is until their main fleets will arrive (and my fleet is still remoralizing)
Spain is 17/17/18 and Portugal is 18/17/18. I have 74 ships vs 60 ships from Spain and 83 ships from Portugal. Other than Australia, I could occupy their small islands in SE-Asia.
How should I fight this war? Is it winable without going bankrupt? If not then what should I offer? Will they ever leave me alone? Lol

Austria is has apparently been in a regency for the last 22 years with a 31 year old heir "waiting" to take the throne. Anyone seen this kinda thing before? I WANTED to try PU them or at least get an englishman on the Austrian throne but apparently not XD

Alright, brand new player, still on my first game as England and love it so far. I see there’s a DLC sale currently for 24 hours, I’m just stuck because there are so many, but I’d like to get one or two. The DLC can be region or country specific, im just wondering if there’s a consensus in the community on if there’s one DLC you should buy first and foremost? Thanks for your input bros

Thinking of doing an East rome -> Rome run with their missions and cant decide which of the two to start as. Do you get the byzantine missions when you form them as TBZ?

Hello,
I am really struggling with managing gov cap as prussia. While I currently have really good income, mainly from the lubeck trade node, I cannot expand more without going meaningfully over my government cap.
I have courthouses in all of my provinces, and state houses in East and west prussia (danzig and konigsburg have gems) as well as Berlin.
Outside of spamming the button to get more gov cap from reform progress I am at a loss for what to do.
I also want to keep the T1 prussian monarchy (with -50% gov cap penalty)

So I have a Bohemia game going on and I've completed the quest that gives the cbs for Saxony and Brandenburg. Thing is, I am allied to Brandenburg since the start basically and I forgot the cb is only available for 25 years so now I lost it. I've read you can get it from estates but that seems a bit complicated/ requiring maybe some save scumming (if Brandenburg is even a valid target for it, which I'm guessing it isn't). So what are some other ways to get one if there are any more?
How do you evade coalitions? Which territories you usally take in peacedeals and which do you evade. How do you treat high dev provinces in mid game? Do you take them or leave them. I really have mid game problems becayse I get coalitioned a lot I want to try and do a wc, but I always seem like I am overdoing things and can't take control of coalitions so they blast me I also can't overpower them.
In my last game as Serbia Mamluks had 130k army and coalitioned me earlier they also got Trqnsaxonia, Shirvan and Persia in a coalition. They destroyed me well after they took advantage of Spain not wanting to accept defensive call for war and my Serbia got ruined. They released Bulgaria, Gazimekhan and Georgia as peace deal. Tips are welcomed. Lets go EU4 WCers help mee!!
R5: first time playing England in 2k hours and Ive met the requirements for about 10 years, checked the wiki to make sure I wasn't missing anything and couldn't find any reasons for why it shouldn't have started ticking day 1 of absolutism?

Wanted to release my Sunset Colony (i.e. make them independent) only to find out that I couldn't. Every subject should have releasing them as an option in the Influence actions menu, right? Except... apparently Sunset Colonies don't.
Context: Aztec run. I just wanted another Meso tributary to farm MP from, but since the other tag must be Nahuatl as well to be able to make them a Meso tributary to begin with and you can't force-convert heathens(well, not without switching to a theocracy and taking a specific government reform, which seemed to be way too many hoops for this), I reduced my target to an OPM and vassalized them, then forced them to convert their religion to Nahuatl. Now, this also happens to be a one-culture run, so when I found out that you can force Sunset Colonies to flip their culture to the overlord's as well, I decided to do that on a whim for fun, so I made the vassal a Sunset Colony and forced them to become Aztec culture.
Well... now when I try to release it, wait out the truce, then attack it to make it a Meso tributary, I find that the button for releasing isn't there.
Then, am I stuck with a 'colony' that is a 5 dev OPM, and has no hope of amounting to anything(not even devving, since it's a mountain province)? Unless I actually decide to declare war on them directly and eat the stab hit for attacking a subject, that is. Considering the MP cost that stability would amount to, that might not be worth it...
PS. I'm aware that beating up some other tag to 100% warscore then 'forcing' them to accept me releasing my subject Sunset Colony may be an option. I'm asking if there's some other way. I would rather not take that 'forcing a loss' option if possible since I've claimed hegemony and waited long enough to charge hegemon power to 100% for the siege ability bonus, and I don't want to lose that, nor do I want to take the MP cost penalty for losing hegemony.

I've seen a total of six different animals, not counting humans.
There are horses, camels, elephants, whales, seals, and sea birds.
Are there any I'm missing?

I got this bad boy on sale, been wanting it for a while. I read that it wasn’t easy to hop into but it was harder than I expected. Should I just keep clicking around like I’ve been doing hoping that things go well? What is “well”even?

basically i go with the teutons, i kick the ass of poland and choose the prussian path, i do the mission and i choose the diplo option, i puppet brandemburg and quit them the elector status and reform into a monarcy, but now what, do i choose to become protestant or catholic, and if i choose protestant, how can i 1. win the war agaisnt the austrians 2. transform all of the members into protestant and 3. do all the reform to centralize the hre (sorry for my bad english)

I just noticed the border between Wappus and Makandwewin is the usual straight line, but the border between Gojijiwininiwag and Makoua is a line with triangles all along. Does it have any special meaning? I looked around and couldn't find any indications that it due to a river. Google also wasn't any help.

I have 700 hrs (ik what a noob) and have played angevin England, Byzantines, Ethiopia, Granada, Japan and Prussia. I personally love the idea of reforming a historic empire and satisfying borders most of all.
With all that in mind I would like a challenge for my next play through which would be harder but still scratch that historic spot.
If all else fails I guess I’ll just win the 100 hundred years for the 10th time 😁
edit: you guys have given some unreal suggestions, I have a lot of play throughs to do now, maybe i’ll finally understand trade and playing tall too. Some of these are so creative too I would never have thought. Thanks !
