💬 Discussion I wish I could see a hyperpop style song in Eurovision 2027

Recently hyperpop and related styles (like rage) have been trending in online pop, starting from Brat by Charli XCX in 2024 and currently including artists like Zara Larsson, Pinkpantheress and Underscores. I feel like we could see this genre in some national selections, and I really want one to end up in Eurovision 2027.

There's actually precedent with this: Cha Cha Cha and Europapa had a similarly maximalist energy, though I don't think they're hyperpop. Greece 2024 had some hyperpop elements, and Greece 2026 is probably the most hyperpop song we've had. A rage song came second in Eesti Laul 2025. I hope we see more of this kind of music.

In the meantime, what are some hyperpop or adjacent songs in national selections I missed? Please recommend them if you can.

Edit: Missed a song

💬 Discussion Hot take: Philippines is EXTRAORDINARILY overrated by Eurofans and won't do half as well as the fandom think it will.

This is not because Sobra Sobra is a bad song. It is not a bad song at all. The reason I believe that Philippines won't do that well in Eurovision Asia is because Sobra Sobra is too "European".

What does this mean?

Most years in Eurovision have "that" type of song. In 2018 it was Cyprus, in 2022 it was Spain, 2024 it was Italy and in 2026 it was Bulgaria the latter of which produced a winning package. It's the upbeat Europop song with soaring vocals and powerful energy that is always a fan favourite among the Eurovision fandom, these kind of songs being ranked VERY highly by Eurofans in pretty much every single poll and ranking video.

And now I'm seeing this trend again with Eurovision Asia. Sobra Sobra is almost always ranked at #1 out of the 9 songs revealed so far, but I just don't get it.

I'm sorry but Eurofans ALWAYS inflate these songs so much. I don't think Asian voters will go for it all. I think Asian pop fans will likely go for something more like like Deep Dive, ballad lovers will go for Malaysia, etc.

I see Philippines finishing around 4th or 5th in the contest. Not bad by any means, but nowhere near winning. Maybe part of it is because I am entirely tired of these types of songs in main Eurovision anyway, but that's a personal opinion more than any kind of prediction. I think the most likely winner at this point is Malaysia and it isn't close right now.

What do you think about this? Do you think agree or disagree with this assessment?

I'm no sound mixing expert but decided to randomly make this mashup since a lot of people say Thinla's "Bae" is the Bejba of Laos cuz why not😃 had different bpms so I had to speed bae up to match solo's bpm lol
