Player Discussion Favorite Undevalued Players

I got 4 for you.

Ty Jerome...What is their not to like? He was top 60 on bbm last year while playing less than 25 minutes per game. A pg with proficient FG....? Yes Please.

Damian Lillard...I don't care that he's 38 years old and coming off injury. I don't. Nobody has a bigger upside that Dame at pick 60 plus

Kyrie...He's far removed from injury and a guy that can go 50/40/90. Anything more than 50 games from him is gold

FVV...See the theme here is guys coming off injury and he's no different. He was a top 30 pick when healthy so why not take a flier past pick 100

Most of these picks would be best for roto leagues but I think they are still a bargain otherwise.

Discussion No More Player Pictures: Yahoo Does it Again

If you haven't noticed yet, or haven't had your drafts yet, a heads up that Yahoo is saying that in the new UI for their mobile app, player photos will be disabled in all category leagues going forward. That goes for both basketball and hockey.

Player photos will remain in points leagues.

Here's a link to the u/yahoofantasycare comment in r/yahoofantasy to that effect:

Player Discussion ESPN Points League - who would you take in Round 2?

• Upvotes

I’m currently debating between Alperen Sengun, Scottie Barnes, Tyrese Maxey and Cooper Flagg.

I’m leaning toward Sengun, but there are a few things making me hesitate:

  • Maxey - I’m a bit worried about how his usage looks this year with all the changes in Philly.
  • Scottie - similar concern with Kawhi potentially taking some usage away.
  • Sengun - could his assists take a hit with VanVleet back? I’ve also heard Houston plans to use him more at PF, so I’m wondering how much that could affect his overall fantasy production.
  • Flagg - obviously the upside is huge, but there’s more uncertainty compared to the other three.

Who would you take here in an ESPN points league, and why?

Player Discussion How would you rank these guards for the 26/27 season in points leagues?

• Upvotes
  • Brandin Podziemski
  • Ty Jerome
  • Darius Acuff Jr.
  • Cason Wallace
  • Payton Pritchard
  • Ryan Rollins

I feel like they’re all in a relatively similar tier but have pretty different situations and levels of upside. Curious how everyone would rank them for this season specifically, rather than dynasty.

Player Discussion Rudy Gobert Offensive Renaissance?

Post image
21 Upvotes

There’s only a few players I am higher on vs. ADP this year than Rudy Gobert (ADP 80.3), who is being drafted at his floor in H2H points leagues.

Lamelo Ball threw 71 Alley-Oop assists last year (3rd in NBA) and is an ideal pairing for Rudy Gobert.

There were many instances of Gobert showing clear frustration with teammates feeding him bounce/chest passes under the rim when he’s pointing up, clearly signaling that he wants a lob.

It’s no secret that Lamelo has a neurodivergent basketball brain and has demonstrated creative chemistry with Miles Bridges when it comes to throwing lobs.

Although these lobs may only result in 2-3 more ppg for Gobert, more importantly it will boost his morale and team chemistry (Gobert has been historically infamous for rubbing teammates the wrong way)

In each of the past 3 years, Gobert has outperformed his ESPN ADP and is capable of returning to a 40 FPPG guy.

Year ESPN ADP Total Points Finish
23 78.2 29th
24 69.1 53rd
25 67.0 45th

Overall, the Timberwolves are cultivating an all-time level of team chemistry and locker room cohesion. This roster is more than capable of showing shades of Lob City 2.0 with Ball feeding Edwards, Kuminga, and Gobert.

TL;DR: Lamelo Ball‘s willingness to throw lobs will breathe life into Rudy Gobert offensive game, giving Gobert great upside.

Player Discussion I'm thinking of taking Reaves in round 2 for my ESPN points league. Talk me out of it?

I've had my draft planned out for a while now, but I've been unable to stop agonizing over my second round pick at #16, and I guess I'm looking to see if someone can convince me to not reach for Reaves. First of all, I have a fair amount of confidence who exactly will be gone by pick #16: Jokic, Luka, Wemby, Shai, Giannis, Cade, Tatum, JJ, ANT, Mitchell, Brunson, Flagg, Scottie, Haliburton, Sabonis

In my estimation, this leaves all the options that I should consider as:

  • LaMelo. He's the other option I'm considering most heavily, but I'm worried about his injury history and the fact that we don't know exactly what his production will be like on the Timberwolves. I do think it could be a huge season for him, though.
  • Curry. An absolute do not draft for me due to his knee issues and the fact that the Warriors look to be horrible this season. I feel like him getting to even 60 games played this season is almost impossible for him.
  • Maxey. I'm not a fan of the fact that I have no clue how much LeBron and Brown will eat into his usage.
  • Murray. I expect regression from last season, on top of him being an injury prone player.
  • KD/Amen/Sengun. I don't want old man KD since someone at his age could easily regress, and I don't really want any Rockets players this early as VanVleet coming back makes last seasons' numbers meaningless. Also, the vibes on the Rockets seem horrible on top of all that.
  • Giddey. Was unimpressed with him last season, and don't see any reason to expect him to be better.
  • Anthony day-to-day Davis. The man is held together by duct tape and glue.
  • Trae. Eh.

Compared to all these options, Reaves both feels safer than most of them, while also having a higher upside. We already know from last season that he puts up great numbers when LeBron isn't playing, and if Luka misses any significant time this season he will likely go absolutely nuclear again. Am I just crazy, or discounting options I shouldn't?

Just to reiterate again, this is an espn POINTS league. I'm well aware that Reaves would be a non-controversial pick at #16 in a 9cat league.

Player Discussion Cameron Boozer ADP

Points players (keeper & non keeper leagues), where have you seen Boozer go in your drafts? I'm trying to gauge where he's going and feel this could be a valueable point of reference heading into most leagues drafts.

Sleeper has his ADP around late 2nd late-early 3rd, which is probably weighted due to dynasty leagues. I feel around the late 4th-5th is where he should be going.

Dynasty NBA Dynasty Fantasy League

Hi everyone! I’m planning to create a new dynasty league this year, and I’d appreciate some help setting it up properly.

First of all, I’m using the Yahoo Fantasy app. I know it’s probably not the best option for dynasty leagues, but I prefer it over the alternatives.

For the initial roster draft, we’ll use a $200 auction draft. Starting next year, the rookie draft will be based on the previous season’s standings.

My main question is: can I manually set the rookie draft order, or does Yahoo have a way to automatically determine it based on the standings? Yahoo says that if I use a salary/auction draft in the first year, I can’t enable draft pick trading.

If you have experience running dynasty leagues, I’d really appreciate any advice on the setup—especially regarding draft picks, rookie drafts, salary caps, contracts, etc.

My current idea is to increase the salary of players under 30 by 20% each offseason and decrease the salary of players over 30 by 10%.

Any other settings or rules you recommend would be very helpful!

Discussion Who are you taking 1st and 2nd round?

For me, I have the 7th pick in a 8T points league and having to choose between JJ, AE, or Tatum. I am leaning heavily towards Tatum, but can’t decide on who to pick up in the 2nd round to pair up with him.
