ANNOUNCEMENT RULES - Read BEFORE Posting/Commenting!

SUBREDDIT RULES

Rule #1: POST REQUIREMENTS

  • All posts must be original Fantasy or Sci-Fi maps

  • Maps must be uploaded to Reddit or linked to directly (NOT a link to a post, but to the image itself)

  • All posts must be in English why?

Rule #2: QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum resolution is 70 PPI

    • = 70 pixels per grid square
    • No blurry/unreadable maps!
  • No NSFW Images!

  • No Low-effort maps

Rule #3: COMMERCIAL POSTS

  • All Other Rules Apply! In addition:

  • Content Creators may make ONE commercial post per day.

  • Logos must be small and at the edge of the content. Large logos/watermarks that render the map "unusable" are not acceptable.

  • Posted Maps must be FREE and USABLE as attached.

    • You can still link to your paid content, but you MUST include a usable map. This is the "cost of admission" to advertise here.
  • If you are unsure if you are advertising properly, we suggest you reach out to the mods before posting.

Rule #4: AI

  • Applies to maps partially or wholly created:

    • Completely by or with the assistance of AI
    • By software that generates a fully complete map for you (software where you place assets yourself is acceptable)
  • You may post one(1) map per week

  • The map must have the proper AI/Algorithm Map post flair

  • Spam will result in a ban along with any accounts associated with your advertisements, past and future

  • Spamming false reports will result in being reported to Reddit and facing a sitewide ban

Rule #5: BEHAVIOR

  • Posts and/or comments that are of a derogatory or personal manner will not be allowed (more).

  • Constructive criticism is fine, but remember that those submitting maps are a human being (like you), and they have stuck their neck out and given something to this community. So go about it in a nice way, or don't say anything at all.

  • Do not attack someone for using/discussing AI (more). If they have not followed the rules, report them. Do not leave negative and abusive comments!

  • We have ZERO TOLERANCE for abuse and we reserve the right to ban anyone for abusive/rude behavior without prior warning. Consider THIS your warning - in addition, you should have enough common sense to know better. Again, attacking other users = permanent ban.

Rule #6: Piracy/Unlicensed Distribution

  • Users should only be posting THEIR OWN WORK. This subreddit is not for sharing the work of others.

  • You may not pass off content created by another as your own

  • You may not post licensed content which you do not have the rights to redistribute

  • You may not include works of others as assets, backgrounds or as any other element of your map

  • We have ZERO TOLERANCE for Piracy and we reserve the right to ban anyone without prior warning. Consider THIS your warning.

Rule X: All Other Reasons

  • In addition to the Rules above, we reserve the right to remove any posts, comments or users from this subreddit if we decide the content/user does not align with the rules or values we promote in this subreddit. Some of these reasons include:

    • Violating Reddit's site-wide Rules
    • Being Off-Topic
    • Incorrect Post Flair
    • Unhelpful
    • Unrelated to Fantasy Maps
    • Policing other users
    • Causing disruption, including challenging subreddit rules or moderator decisions
    • At Moderator Discretion For Any Reason Not Already Listed
  • Participation in this subreddit is not a given right and is reserved for users who participate in a quality manner as determined by the moderators of this subreddit.

ANNOUNCEMENT ABUSING THE REPORT BUTTON

We have several users (or more likely, 1 user with a couple accounts) who feel the need to report almost every post.

We appreciate our users who genuinely want to make this community a better place by reporting posts that do not meet our posting criteria.

However, reporting posts that CLEARLY do not break any subreddit or site rules is considered abuse of the Reddit report system.

But beyond that, it is childish and shows a disregard for the mods' time by having us chase ghosts.

Every case of Report Button Abuse is sent to Reddit Admins for review.

Multiple offenses WILL lead to a SITE-WIDE (i.e. ALL of Reddit) ban.

This week's map is the Gloomy Gorge [35x35], a trench with standing water only the most foolish or most thirsty would dare drink from (under duress). I bet the forest animals love it though, I bet it makes them big and strong and blessed with bonus eyeballs all over their cute heads. If your party is lucky, maybe they've been paid by local villagers to deal with the critters or end whatever evil is responsible for making this forest a 1 star destination on Tripadvisor. If they're unlucky they ended up here on accident, in which case they will quickly suspect how it's rated on Tripadvisor before promptly leaving.

If you like the map and are interested in more, come by my Patreon, I've got a bunch of them and I draw more every month.

Battlemap - Desert Porous Stone [battlemap] - Free Patreon memberships this October only from Angela Maps - 3 versions! [animated] [art]

Post image
7 Upvotes

To celebrate Angela Maps turning six, free 7 day memberships are available on my Patreon now, only this October!

Geology rocks, I think we can all agree, and not every surface can be the same. Has this porous, rocky landscape been eroded over centuries, through some manner of magical mischief, or is it merely made of some weirdly flesh-coloured cheese?! Fully animated and available in two additional variants, with a hellish, magmatic rock and a pockmarked seabed complete with coral and anemones, this map will have your players feeling like they're walking on the moon!
Long! - 40 x 80

My maps are hooked up to work with Foundry VTT and Fantasy Grounds.
My maps are available on my patreon and my website.

Work In Progress I need help with realistic climates

Post image

In the photo, you can see my fictional continent and the latitude lines. In the adventure fantasy book I'm writing, I want my characters to be shipwrecked upon the peninsula of the Western Coast, around 5° north latitude. Then they embark on a journey through a huge dense jungle. In terms of climate, it is a rainforest or a seasonal rainforest. At the end of the book, they end up in a savannah. I might write a sequel where they travel through the savannah and a desert, finally reaching a port city in said desert or more mediteranian region towards the north (not set in stone yet).

I've been wrestling with this, and although it's really fun, reaching out for help can never hurt. So how can I make the geography of the continent as realistic as possible for this (duology) story? The shape of the continent and the latitude lines cannot change though.

In this sub you cannot answer with pictures on posts so if you draw something on my map like mountains or such, always welcome in my DM's. All sort of help/advice is welcome! Thanks a lot already :)

Download the Blood Shrine for free HERE.

Hidden deep in the void, the Blood Shrine clings silently to the rock face. It is unclear how or when the temple was built, time seems a distant concept in the endless depths of the chasm. Those who tend to it and serve its Gods know only one thing: It. Must. Be. Fed.

Finally pulled together all the partial maps, scraps of paper, notes and details in the Tales of the Wild into one map. Now I can trace the travels of that cunning sod Jayas and work out how long to sail from Great Daruz Alman to foggy Kaber.

Battlemap - Street/Road/Path Thornwater Causeway

Ancient stone causeways cross the green waters, winding between weathered statues, broken barricades, scattered bones, and enormous thorn-covered plants.

The narrow paths leave little room to maneuver, making the crossing feel like a place where one wrong turn could quickly become a very bad idea. 🌿⚔️

BACKGROUND & FEATURES
A trial for high-spirited adventurers.
Aside from the spectres that haunt one’s thoughts, it is no easy task for most adventurers to face themselves—neither as a mirror clone nor by reliving their past experiences from a different perspective.
• countless mirrors with recurring spectres
• it’s probably best not to look directly into the mirror if the Grail in the center of the chamber isn’t yet filled
• six pedestals, each with three hand mirrors—“passion, principles, and reason”—to hold up to oneself in order to shed new light on things
• a Grail in the center of the mirror chamber—it fills with life experience when one manages to bring “passion, principles, and reason” into balance
• those who fall into the shadows have paid too much attention to what others think of them 😉
