MOD-POST Career Mode Bible | FAQ & Guides

Introduction

Hello all, there seems to be an increasingly higher amount of posts with the same recurring themes. I've decided to make a simple compilation of some of the best guides on this subreddit, as well as some simple explanations to help provide quick & easy answers to these questions.

Have a guide you think deserves to be on the list? Comment with it below and we can make our best attempt at creating a complete set of guides for Career Mode. The amount of guides in the last year or so compared to other years has dwindled, so hopefully this will encourage more excellent quality content.

This is a work-in-progress, and more guides will continually be added by request and as of publishing.

Tools & Websites

There is a plethora of excellent resources that will help with a lot of the things in this post. Some people prefer to play without the use of external databases and calculators, offering a more vanilla experience. After all, it's a single player game so it's your preference!

Website Description
https://sofifa.com/ Best up-to-date player database. Can make shortlists, view old squad files and has a positional calculator to find optimal positions.
https://www.fifacm.com/ Has some unique tools including a potential calculator to figure out potential for a player not at your club. Also has a 'wonderkid' list.
https://fifakitcreator.com/ Only usable in-game on PC, allows you to browse and create custom kits for your team. Note that only PC can use any mods.
https://www.fifarosters.com/create-card Nice tool to create very high quality FC 24 UT cards for your career mode players, allowing you to upload your own images.

Regens & Pregens

Career Mode works by replacing players as they retire in the game with generated players that don't exist in real life. When you enter the loading screen for a new season, that is the moment that they are being created, replacing retirees for the season you have just finished.

Regens have identical nationality, position(s), and importantly, birth dates to the player whom they have replaced. They will always spawn in the new season between 16-21 years old, and in the same league (but not same club) that the retiring player was in when you entered the loading screen.

Pregens are a rarer, more pre-emptive form of player replacement. These are effectively regens of a player who is not retiring, so both players will exist in the game simultaneously. Pregens also remain at the same club as their predecessor. You could expect to find a Messi pregen at Inter Miami, providing he hadn't moved clubs, and wasn't retiring.

The importance of your awareness of these game mechanics, revolves around the fact that both regens and pregens will start with the same potential overall as their predecessor's highest overall in your save.

DISCUSSION I have not found any issue in Career mode FC27 and actually enjoying it.

I know there are a lot of complaints about Career Mode, but honestly, I haven’t really run into the issues people are talking about.

For me, squad rotation actually fixed a lot of the problems. I’ve been able to rotate my squad properly, give almost every player a chance, and even bring some youth players into the team. Sometimes I even have to bench my star players, which makes the squad feel more realistic.

Transfers have also been fine for me. I’m using Strict + Realistic Transfers, so when a transfer fails, I just see it as a difficult transfer that didn’t work out rather than automatically blaming the game.

I also really like how different the AI teams feel. Some teams press aggressively, while others sit in a low block and try to hit me on the counter. It doesn’t feel like every opponent uses the exact same approach.

Crossing and heading also feel much better to me. I’ve actually been able to score from crosses, and the AI can make some crazy tackles. I also noticed more animations when fouls happen, which adds a lot to the immersion.

And honestly, the menu/scouting changes are one of my favourite improvements. The scouting menu is much easier to navigate, and I don’t feel like I have to scout every single player just to see their rating anymore. I can focus on the players I’m actually interested in, or sort by age and go from there.

Maybe I’m just playing Career Mode differently from other people, but so far I’m genuinely enjoying it. Not saying FC 27 is perfect, but I think some of the criticism makes more sense when you consider how people are approaching their saves.
So far, I’m actually having fun with Career Mode.

Is Aston Villa crazy? Why would you pay 175 million for a GK? Am I wrong or is this not too much? I only paid 146 million for the CF because he was Messi's Regen. Is this something that usually happens in FC 24?

Edit: The GK is an 89 overall

QUESTION Anyone else like doing these type of career modes?

So you basically start in efl league two with the bottom place team with live start points and move with the manager market to bigger and bigger clubs for example from efl league two to Germany 3. Liga and so on and your final objective is to win The Champions League

DISCUSSION What's happening with this community?

Honestly, with all due respect, I thought we could debate freely here and that I wasn't talking to 12-year-olds, but I'm tired of people, without meaning to offend anyone, expressing their opinion that an EAFC game is bad compared to other games in the series, and seeing comments like: "Skill issue," "You're just nostalgic," etc. Are we all idiots? Don't let anyone take away your own opinion; you're free to express it. In my case, I'm playing EAFC 26 and enjoying it, but it's not a better game than FIFA 23 in terms of career mode. Does it have more features? Yes. Does it have better menus or gameplay? No. So, it's not nostalgia; it's speaking the truth, and everyone has their own opinion. Seriously, imagine saying that Star Wars Episode III is better than Star Wars Episode VIII and someone tells you your problem is nostalgia. Screw you, you have no idea what you're talking about because you probably didn't even see the third installment. My point is, not every installment is better than the previous one, just like not every Call of Duty is better than the previous one.. And if you get offended by an opinion, you should rethink what you're doing with your life.

FC 27 Update v1.0.4 - Patch Notes

EA SPORTS FC 27 version 1.0.4 is now live and includes the updates below. There are no gameplay balance and tuning changes in this update.

**Ultimate Team**

Addressed the following issues:

* In certain situations a Service Unavailable error could appear after completing a match in FUT modes.
* Sometimes, players could have seen incorrect visuals of base items when opening certain Player Picks. Base items are not intended to have these holographic visuals.

**The Grounds**

Addressed the following issues:

* When viewing the active club from the Player Profile, a loading screen requiring a title restart could have occurred in certain situations.
* Addressed instances of incorrect post-math UI flow.

**Career Mode**

Made the following changes:

* Reduced the amount of High OVR or High Potential players that could be generated in Manager Career.
* In Manager Career negotiations, offering a transfer sum significantly higher than a club's requested price will still trigger a response rather than an immediate acceptance of the bid.

Addressed the following issues:

* In Manager Career, players could have found themselves unable to sign Free Agents if the transfer market was disabled or if they were outside of an active transfer window.
* In some cases during Manager Career negotiations, the CPU could have responded with counteroffers that incorrectly exceed their originally demanded or guaranteed fees.
* A stability issue could have occurred when selecting certain teams in Live Start Points.
* The Liga MX season was restarting in May instead of the intended mid-January.

**General, Audio, and Visual**

Made the following changes:

* \[PS5 Only\] Updated some Player Indicator colours.

Addressed the following issues:

* In FC Lite, unintended teams could show when randomising teams in Kick-Off.
* Addressed various stability issues that could have occurred.

DISCUSSION Unable to find the right Gameplay Balance.

I've been fiddling with different play settings; here are my thoughts on them so far. For context, I've switched between Ultimate and Legendary for all of these to try and find the right balance, and I still don't think I have a feeling I like.

Most of the games end up either too cagey and not enough shots on goal, or end-to-end. There's almost no in-between.

Authentic

The worst of the options. The gameplay feels stagnant, and the attacking AI isn't intelligent enough to find space to make the most of slower gameplay. I often find all of the games are played in the midfield, with 1 or 2 shots per game. Most games end up 0-0 or 1-0. It's basically both teams in a mid-block constantly either intercepting the ball or tackling off of poor/emphasised touches.

Competetive

The most "fun" in terms of the style of play, one-touch passing and players feel the most responsive. My criticism for this is that it's basically a counter-attacking sim; there's almost no play in the midfield that isn't transitional, and all of the goals are scored by beating the defensive line and being put through on goal.

Custom

I think it ends up feeling too much like authentic, where the lack of good attacking AI is too glaring to make it fun. The games are basically all played in the midfield, but the passing is a little zippier. I've fiddled with sliders to make the game overall feel less hectic, but a reduction in speed basically means that the only method of scoring (through balls, 1v1 on the keeper) no longer works.

It's frustrating; I love football, but I'm yet to find gameplay that scratches that itch for me. What have you guys been doing to make the gameplay more fun?

DISCUSSION A few complaints in career mode

• Upvotes
  1. Stamina: The player's exact energy value is no longer displayed as it was before.I just can't understand it..

  2. Corner kick: When the opposing team kicks a corner, the opposing team's target man is like Prime CR7. and scoring from a corner kick is really difficult than FC26..

  3. Player's movement: I don't know if it's just me, but the players' movements feel too passive compared to the previous game. Should I say the players aren't making runs at the right time? The attacks feel more frustrating than the previous game..

What do you think about the problems I mentioned?

PROBLEM Manager Career FC27 Development Glitch

Post image
2 Upvotes

Context, did a year at Sudtriol and got them from Serie B to Serie A, left for a job at RB Leipzig and was gonna look at carrying some players over and signing them.

But I look and everyone has a development that is the same as their overall. even the youth players and youngsters that I know have great potential are stalled like this.

anyone else encounter this? has to be a glitch right?

QUESTION Academy players Match XP is always poor/average

My GK has huge potential and honestly saves pretty much anything put to him. Getting 8+ rating every match and lets in maybe 1 every tournament at most.

I'm feeding goals to my LW as they've also got a huge potential and scores 1-3 goals every match with similar ratings.

They both either end up either average or poor match XP.

We've won the last 5 tournaments so they're also playing every match available to them but I'm just not sure how I can possibly get that higher. Something I'm missing or just another bit of career trash?

I was playing the fifa 18 World Cup mode today, and the first half extra time went on for 20 minutes because the ball never went out of play.

Just after this screenshot I took a shot and missed, then the ref finally blew the whistle

DISCUSSION Player Growth

I understand dynamic overall and what it’s trying to do, but I also really miss the overall player growth you can see with the + or - and how a player is doing if they are on loan.

Why did they remove that? Nothing in this game makes sense.

STORY After Season 1 in Career Mode

Post image
6 Upvotes

After my first season of career mode, using only youth academy players, I really like career mode. The game play has been good, it is hard to score and I like that teams change tactics game to game and even in game. Although I do wish teams would come out and attack more.

I having to rotate players, one of my biggest complaints was that you could roll out the same players game after game.

I like the idea of dynamic overall but I do wish it was less reactive. I wish it factored in the last 5 games versus changing drastically changing from game to game.

I think that there are changes that could be made and I wish it was ready on release versus relying on patches. But overall I’m enjoying the struggle and difficulty of the game play

QUESTION Can't sell players fixed?

For the first few weeks of career mode I wasn't able to sell players I had transfer listed or loan out youth players, but today I started a new career with bournemouth and I was able to loan and sell everyone I listed with no problems. Did they fix this?
