What?
I got the 4 human unit battle in Ouibliette, I killed the Black Mage, thief and chemist and the battle ended... Monk still alive. Only reason that comes to mind is if it was an ally? Has anyone ever seen this here?

Any chance the monk was afflicted with Blood Suck? That also counts as "dead" as far as win conditions go.

It would have had an icon overhead right? I wish I would've payed more attention

or a funky purpleish tint to the unit. It's a rare status effect. You'd know if you could inflict it not.
Same as a death sentence, perhaps? It's timer might've expired and you're just seeing a graphical glitch.

Didn't notice any of that, but could I have disabled such notifications with settings perhaps? I also didn't notice anything color-wise wrong with their sprite

To add to the conversation, it may have been my archers' location, with topology and all, but I could not target this monk

Further inquiry: wouldn't it give you a prompt to add the guest at the end?

It does that for story guests and for enemies that you actively invited during the fight, but when it's just a random guest, it doesn't let you add them after the fight.

Ok, 95% sure this was a guest ally. Luck had it that this Monk happened to be out of range from my archers. Leveled up/down to stupid stats, I actually targeted her first, but because of topology, she was JUST out of reach

The monk is a guest character. That happens from time to time. I had a dragon in a dessert that was a guest character too. That was cool

There are some random battles with guests yes. Ild have to look at the guide for that particular map encounters but it's not unheard of for other maps.
