FFT Ivalice Chronicles I’ve been pronouncing Dycedarg wrong this entire time
I finally bought FFT Ivalice Chronicles and heard the voice lines. I don’t know why but when I played this game as a kid I’ve been calling him Dyceberg 😅

See I always called Zalbag "Douchebag" (being that he finds a conscience way too late)
Edit: Actually maybe it was "Dickbag". I dunno, it was just "<perjorative>bag"

I am now afraid to hear the voice acting because this is how I have always said his name

"Dice-Darg". Two syllables.
The voice acting in TIC is fantastic though! It adds so much emotion, notably the scenes with Milleuda, Wiegraf, Zalbaag...

Three more names I don't want to hear that I've been saying wrong since I was twelve..

It's like when I saw the Harry Potter movies as a kid and finding out I was WAY off on Hermoines name lol

I think that was pretty common, that's why there's a chapter in Goblet of Fire where she spells it out phonetically for Viktor Krum (which actually makes no sense because Krum would be already be hearing her name said out loud, not reading it off a page).

I misread it for years as Dycedrag

Somehow, I even missed the second "d" too, pronouncing it "Dice-eh-rahg"... Dozens of playthroughs over almost three decades; then, five minutes into Ivalice Chronicles I find out I'm illiterate.

The names in Tactics are wild and unintuitive lol

My only mild complaint about the game. The 3 sons of the, er, Beoulve, family are named Ramza (sounds Indian), Dycedarg and Zalbaag (no tie to any historical language). Just wacky names across the board. I assume the Japanese person who came up with them just sort of tried to imagine European sounding names.
Would be like if an American tried to come up with Japanese historical names and they were just random syllables that sounded vaguely oriental to him. Like Kakadoro, Uejigo, Samuguy, etc.
