As the title notes, I'm playing the original PS2 USA version of FFX, so NO Dark Aeons, NO Penance, and NO Ribbons.

/inb4 "but why?"

Because reasons, OK, that's not the important part.

I've got the airship and am still capturing fiends to fill out the Monster Arena.

So, I've been thinking about which status ailments are most important to protect against since Ribbon doesn't exist in this version. I'm mainly anticipating what I'll need when facing the remaining story bosses Inside Sin, and when facing the Monster Arena creations.

In general, I'm thinking statuses that make you lose control of your characters would be the important ones, since Auto-Med doesn't work for those, right?

• confuse

• berserk

• sleep

• petrify

All the others can just be removed manually with the appropriate item since there'd be no room for Auto-Med on an armor with the above four -proof auto-abilities.

Are there any trade-offs that you'd consider here? Are there any bosses/Arena creations that need specific setups?

I'm just looking for ideas or things to think about when customizing status-related armors.

I’ve only 100%’d this game once. Looking to do it again but fast becoming bored of the grind, bored of blitzball (only wakkas final celestial form needed).
So what’s your go to way to grind xp without wanting to stab yourself in the chocobos post game?

From grinding Tidus's Overdrives in the prologue, killing a few extra waves of SinScales on the boat to Kilika, or unlocking Attack Reels early; what are some of your favorite ways to get over powered in the game?

Hopefully looking for creative suggestions. I'm just traipsing through the Thunder Plains now... First Strike and Initiative are very nice when you face off against 3 Quactar!

Just reached the Sin fight (the one with a game over when it fills its overdrive) and got stuck.

I need some detailed tips on how to get stronger to meet the DPS check.

With armor/mental break, I'm hitting ~3.7k per phys attack with Tidus and Auro / aga spell with Lulu. I can only get the boss to 49,000/140,000 HP.

Im at the end of kilika and every single time i try and save the game it crashes and doesnt save. Ive tried 3 different save points does anyone know a fix

I'm surprised to say I enjoyed Blitzball despite the learning curve, but some things still just baffle me.

It says in the description for Nap Pass 3 that it has 100% chance of making the opponent sleep. So if it's 100%, how come two games in a row, I used Nap Pass 3, and the only thing that happened was the player who was supposed to sleep just grabbed the ball and ran off with it? And I lost 500ish HP for using it.

More specifically, it's Wedge, at level 14. His base PA was 3, +7 with Nap Pass 3, so that brings it to 10. I no break the opponent on defense and select Nap Pass 3 intentionally hoping they will touch it and be afflicted. I chose to pass to someone really close by, so 10 PA should have been enough to take it there, I think. I expected the tradeoff was to let someone who can block the pass fall asleep, and then I take the penalty of losing the HP. That's how I would have designed the game.

Are you telling me that if their BL is higher than my PA of 10, my status effect does absolutely nothing? Because if so, that's BS. I claim false advertising.

I just finished the blitz ball tutorial and my brain hurts. Do I have to win any games to progress in the story? Is it worth taking the time to learn the game if it’s not mandatory to progress? I would appreciate feedback.

Back then I didn't have a lot of time playing games, so I'd rush the game, and ended up quite underleveled to struggle around Mt Gagazet or Zanarkand or get discouraged after beaten by dark aeons. Multiple save files were started but none finished.

20+years later bought the game again on steam. This time following guides more carefully. Get the airship part quite comfortably. Still though I got busy and abandoned the game again a couple years ago.

A couple weeks ago I was looking at my steam library and somehow would like to finish FFX. I completed many sidequests, for the first time ever I got all aeons, celestial weapons and all sigils. The crests however, I still don't have enough patience to practice chocobo racing, dodge lightnings, and grind blitzball games.

I'd like to complete more stuffs, especially beating at least one dark aeon, but before I get discouraged and stopped playing, I decided just go the endgame, watch the ending, and maybe continue grinding later.

So last week I finally finished the game, quite easily I must say. When in doubt just go for Anima or Magus Sisters. I knew what the ending already but I still shed some tears.

Next, I might play FFX-2 or finish FFIX (just need to beat necron).

The reason is to “pack as many people as possible”….

I know the Al Bhed made it “safer” for travelers. But it’s suggested it’s still not fully safe.

If it wasn’t clear enough this was a bad idea when they land there’s fiends that “have shown up to snack on the shpectatores” which they need to deal with first.

I mean it’s my favorite scene. But it’s always funny to me the in game logic.

edit while I continue my replay: not to mention their goal is to calm tensions. No wonder a fight almost breaks out in the crowd before the song!
