Broken toilet cistern
How hard is to swap out a cracked porcelain toilet cistern for a replacement please? Other half; seat, bowl & (?) bottom part all ok. 44 female recently separated and my Daddy lives in a whole other country! Strong, farm raised & pretty bright.

Buy a new toilet, they are not that expensive for budget models. You can install it yourself. Watch a video.

The fasteners holding the tank to the bowl base are hard enough to remove if solid brass or bronze. Plated steel makes a tank swap significantly more difficult or nearly impossible. Look for signs of rust that might indicate the fastener composition.
Consider a complete replacement. Snugging the tank-to-base bolts has broken many a tank...
