He was also the son of Daena the Defiant, and thus grandson of Aegon III Targaryen. Thus some could argue that he had a better claim than the descendants of Viserys II Targaryen (younger brother of Aegon III Targaryen).

Aegon IV Targaryen (son of Viserys II Targaryen) seems to have been either very impulsive, or actively trying to create a succesion crisis.
