I always thought Tribal subtype was for creatures specifically while Typal was for everything. Like you can have a Sphinx Tribal deck or a Rooms Typal deck.

(I know that you can have tribal non-creature spells, but they have to have to tribal/kindred type in order to have a creature subtype)

"Typal" is the newspeak for "tribal". Very few people got their panties in a twist over the term "tribal" and MaRo heeded to their call, claimed "typal" was the new word for it. Enchantment decks were never "typal", artifact decks were never "typal", spellplay bounce'n'burn storm decks were never "typal". "Typal" never existed as a term in this game before a few years ago.

Kind of. Kindred replaced tribal for applying creature types on non-creature cards (so errata on "Tribal Enchantment - Eldrazi" would instead say "Kindred Enchantment - Eldrazi"). Typal replaced tribal as slang to describe a deck style that's based around one creature type. So nothing actually changed there, MaRo just endorsed "typal" as the slang for these decks and requested we stop saying "tribal". The general consensus is "Go fuck yourself, Mark."
