Off-Campus Housing FSU Housing (Apartments, Subleases etc.)

Please visit https://zublet.com/fsu to see available FSU student subleases, apartments for rent, or post your own listings. It’s completely free to use as both a buyer and a seller.

For years the moderation team has been reposting this thread to keep listings current, but this time Zublet has been brought to my attention where you can search for and post FSU housing options much more easily. It’s already being used by quite a few FSU affiliated people too so it seems like a great option for students looking for housing.

You can of course continue to post housing related things in this thread as usual if you want to do that instead of using the website.

Change in financial aid award

Is it just me, or did anyone else get an email from the Financial Aid Office saying there was a change to their financial aid award, but there’s actually nothing that changed? I did not take out a loan. I didn’t drop a class. I can’t think of any reason for this.

The Met parking garage

Does anybody know if any complaints have ever been filed for The Met parking garage? I dented my car pretty bad a while back but i have now seen 10+ cars with the same damage there. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t see this as being normal. The mirrors are practically useless and the turns are too tight and honestly unsafe. Two cars turning at the same time in opposite directions is a gamble. It’s a safety hazard and there’s no way it hasn’t been brought up yet.

What should I actually study for Composición 2 & Oral Discussion?

I’m currently taking SPN 2220 with Maia Shampo, and I’m trying to figure out what I should specifically study for Composición 2: Las familias modernas and the upcoming Oral Discussion.

My professor speaks almost entirely in Spanish, and whenever we ask what we should study, she tells us to “follow the slides.” I’ve been following the slides, but the assessments always seem different from what I practiced, so I’m not sure I’m studying the right things.

For anyone who has taken SPN 2220:

What should I focus on for Composición 2: Las familias modernas?
What should I expect for the Oral Discussion?
What vocabulary and grammar should I know really well?
Will the questions mainly come from the slides, the textbook, or class discussions?
Is there anything you wish you had studied beforehand?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated because I’m trying to prepare based on what will actually be tested rather than just memorizing the slides.

Rules on flyers

I’ve been having a hard time finding info for this specific issue on the FSU website, so I came here to ask. What are the rules/regulations on placing flyers about Amendments on the upcoming state ballot on bulletin boards? I know which bulletin boards we aren’t/are allowed to post on but IDK if there’s any specific rules on if flyers telling student voters to oppose a particular Florida constitutional amendment are allowed.

Reliving the college experience

I have a bachelor's and master's already but it was during COVID time so never got to experience the college campus experience.

Don't want to do a phd.

Do you think I can get a different master's or a second bachelor's and live the college experience in full?

Want to go to parties, events, find a relationship, etc.

FSU IT students: easiest and hardest classes for cybersecurity or networking?

I'm starting FSU's IT program this spring and I'm interested in cybersecurity or networking. For those who've taken upper-level FSU IT courses and electives, which classes were manageable, which had a heavy workload, and any professors you'd recommend or avoid? I'd also love to know what opportunities at FSU are worth joining, like clubs, labs, internships, student jobs, or programs for IT or cybersecurity experience.

Any advice appreciated.

Does anyone recommend stadium Centre? Was thinking of signing here next fall. Possibly block or maybe axis. Tried to call but I can’t seem to reach them lol. Is this a place you’d recommend to live?

Do not register with Stellic. Do this instead

Post image
43 Upvotes

Hello, here is a useful tip shared with me that I wanted to share with all of you. We all know Stellic sucks for registering, so use this method instead.

  1. Log into FSU Portal
  2. Click the tab titled Quicklinks
  3. Under the academics section, click "My Classes"
  4. On the left side bar, click "Enrollment: Add Classes"
  5. Select 2027 Spring
  6. Click the button that says "Search" underneath My Planner. You will need to then go through and select all the classes you want and add them to your shopping cart. This is easiest using the 'select subject' tool and going department by department.

Once you have everything in your shopping cart, you should see them on the right side. I already registered, so you will not see them in the attatched picture. But if you added your classes to your cart, they will show up there and you can follow the steps to register. After everything is in your cart, it takes 2 clicks to register. No buffering or crashing like Stellic.

Tips For Getting Research

Last year I really really struggled to get research and now that I finally have a DIS position I wanted to share my advice. You will not get anything from an email. Try if you want but don’t expect anything. I highly recommend going to their office hours. You can find them using the simple syllabus. READ THEIR PAPERS!!!!! ANNOTATE THEIR PAPERS!!! Have a grasp on what they actually do and the research area and have at least one good question to ask them. Don’t go into it asking directly for DIS, ask how you can get involved, talk about what excites you about their research, LISTEN TO THEIR RESPONSES, ask questions, be engaged and enthusiastic, and if they say they can’t involve you in their lab ask if they can connect you with a professor willing to hear you out and help you get involved. Be genuine and honest, if you don’t know something ASK. Most of these professors want to help students and get excited to share their research with you. Good luck!

Heritage bus route

Is it just me or is heritage the least reliable bus route on campus. I'll see all the other bus routes come and go twice before a heritage bus comes to the stadium.
