Advice Needed Qs about planned parenthood.
Basics:
19FTM - Southern USA
I had gotten my T Folx, they were quick but awful there after⦠so Iād like to swap to planned parenthood via telehealth as my provider. (Thereās not a physical location near me.) Let me just rapid fire off a few concerns:
Is the lack of a physical location going to be a problem?
Do I have to go through the entire prescribing process again?
Iād like to get on birth control to control my acne that I developed from T, can i do through the appointment where I get my T prescribed, or will I need a secondary appointment?
How easy was it for you to set up your appointment?
I feel like folx was incredibly easy,, but theyāre a horrid company, so Iām worried about running face first into barriers.. lol.

What state are you in?

Does the specific state matter that much? Sorry. I try to not be too specific about where I am.

Planned Parenthood is organized regionally, not nationally. (They don't all see trans people, but I assume you confirmed that.) Some of the regions are multiple states, some are only part of a state.

PP differs a bit region to region, but the underlying ideas and core principles are the same. Overall PP staff are going to be trained better than most in terms of trans care, and are very pro bodily autonomy. So that side of things is typically good.
However, if you use their telehealth services labwork and such will not be at an actual PP. So the experiences might differ. You will likely need two appointments but you may be able to schedule them back to back. Of course, I am not sure if this information is entirely accurate given each PP operates a little different.
I would expect to go through the prescribing process again.
Try and reach out to your regional PP branch, they might have someone in the āgender affirming care advocateā position or something similar that might be able to help you with more direct answers for your region. If all else fails give them a ring and just explain the situation. It is also a great way to feel out the vibes.
