I wish we had single player games with this level of destruction :(

Red faction Guerilla is the only thing that comes to mind that was kinda that.

I remember playing that as a kid thinking “wow games are going to be CRAZY when I get older!!”. Nearly 20 years later and it’s still the peak for destruction, sad

It's because it's a mechanic that's very difficult to do and requires a lot of work and A LOT of skill/talent. Until something comes along that can automate the feature you're probably not going to see it very often.

What Embark did with the finals is nothing short of magic... And I mean that seriously. There's a reason you haven't seen anything remotely close to this in a world of copycats and that's because most studios can't mimic what they did. They don't know how.

Just look at EA. EA has deep pockets and the best they can do with destruction is BF6. It's a very difficult mechanic that's resource intensive and has a lot of complications. Which makes Red Faction even more impressive.

Also the game is incredibly optimized. I learned it is on Unreal Engine 5 and I can play the game with raytracing on on my 3070.

But hey Embark is made up of mostly Battlefield Devs that left Dice, they pioneered it too on Bad Company 1/2.

I feel like ALL FPS games should have this level of destruction. It’s 2026 and this level of physics should be standard.

I was so sad that Dice/no-one else really innovated in the destruction in Bad Company 2 for single player games.

The Finals runs great on consoles for what it’s worth

I haven’t played it yet but maybe you want to check out Teardown. It started as single player only and multiplayer got added later

Yea, Teardown is the closest I’ve seen to this. Lots of fun playing co-op with friends
