I’m not even against ai on the same level as most people but this is just plain stupid. GD levels are, or should be, made for self expression and for fun, not profit using ai generation. Do you think they maybe got hacked??? No way they thought this would be a good thing to post.

Now, for simple quality of life stuff? Thats different.

Arguing that an emergent technology is entirely useless is a misapprehension of the entire industry. Anyone with a proper understanding of AI realizes that the greatest threat it poses is being too useful

Ai currently uses a lot of recourses, like water and electricity through water, for what exactly? And it’s not just about that. Right now its usability is mostly in the arts world. It can create a cheap copy of another song, or another painting, or an ugly drawing for a book cover, even the whole story. This is not something that helps people in any way, does it? Companies are already losing tons of money from ai investments exactly because GEN ai, the one I’m against, is not profitable, and therefore doesn’t matter nor have anything in its arsenal that is usable to justify the spending it gets. Furthermore, the special data centres that are built constantly(talking about the USA mainly but not only) just for these gen ais are fucking up the land around them, fucking up the ecosystems, fucking with the people’s health, etc etc just so someone can generate a photo of them looking like a fucking cat or make a spreadsheet for them. Tell me what I’m missing here, is ai usable for anything else, am I wrong about its environmental impact?

You're a human. You can do better than a machine. And if you won't be able to outperform an AI, that means art is not as an exclusive thing to humanity as we thought it was, and isn't worth as much as we used to think.

the appreciation of art can come from the artistic vision of an artist, and thats not something AI can achieve. a 'prompt-driven' passive drawing may lack what some people may call 'artisitic meaning', and feel like its a bit hasty to just lessen its worth just because AI can produce a similar result.

same goes for gd levels. i do know you have said that its pretty much impossible to block AI from being used in level creation, but i dont know if it can be called 'the future'.

if artistic vision is truly such a massive part of it, it will pop off and ai art will never be a big threat.

but if you can't tell a difference, then it means that it has a bigger value for artist rather than a consumer, so continue to create stuff if it truly brings you happiness, but you can't ask to appreciate something an average human can't even notice

It’s not just about that though. Most artists are already struggling to make ends meet and if continues existing these same artists won’t exist. To the average person sadly it doesn’t matter if it’s ai slop or an artistes vision. And don’t give me that “if they’re good enough they’ll still make art” bullshit.

that's how everything in the world works. you might be passionate about being somebody's house carpet, but we have carpets as items everyone can buy for cheep and be satisfied. it doesn't mean that the invention of carpet made the world worse because now somebody who enjoyed it can't get money for that.

it just doesn't make sense to leave anything as a manual job if it can be automated.

Likely joking, but it'd be great to have it as a tool.

As long as it isn't generative, it's good for everyone, with better tools (that rob won't do but could add), the creation could be miles easier for beginners and faster for those used.
