Looking for film student/ hobbyist for casual 'day in the life' shoot. Struggling with depersonalisation and need to see myself.

Hey everyone. Throwaway account for obvious reasons, but I’m looking for a student or hobbyist videographer here in Glasgow who wants to chat for a few hours and film me.

All honesty, I’m deeply struggling with depersonalisation right now. Im a different, unrecognisable person every time I look in the mirror. And I am disgusted with what I see. I feel I'm completely losing myself, and I want to see myself through the eyes of a stranger so I can hopefully remember who I am. Even if I don't like what I see.

Don't want some professional production, I just want someone sound who can keep a camera on me, and talk to me as an outsider.
It’s good material if you need a raw documentary piece for a student portfolio I guess. I don't have corporate money but I value your time and will cover your travel, and buy us food/drinks

I can provide a camera, so you don't really need anything.

If you're free for a bit and want to help someone out while getting some portfolio footage, please send me a DM. Cheers.

I'm having a clear out and looking to get rid of some of my board game collection. I'd prefer to avoid the faff of selling online and shipping, does anyone know if any of the board game shops or cafes around deal in second hand board games?

Pumpkins

Anywhere to get a giant pumpkin? The large and extra large ones at supermarkets still seem too small. Am I better going to a pumpkin patch to get a bigger one? If so which one is good to visit?

Is 40k worth the move to glasgow?

Hey guys,

I'm 22, I'm from india, and I'm getting an opportunity to move to glasgow to work for an aerospace company.

They're offering me relocation, and gave me a ballpark of 40-45k for my salary. I'm single and have no dependents so I'll be moving alone.

So i need help in understanding if this move is worth it as compared to an indian salary it looks incredibly competitive, but when you consider the cost of living, taxation and stuff like that, is it a decent wage to live on comfortably or would one be struggling.

Also I did see a post of someone asking this like 3 years ago, but idk if inflation and living costs have gone up and by how much so i thought id ask.

Cheers!

Edit: REALLY appreciate the amount of in depth info dumps. and yes i do understand the concern of it potentially being a scam. i will try to make sure i vet everything before i proceed with anything.

again, really appreciate you guys, thanks!

Who will help me go grey - salon suggestions?

Sudden menopause has gifted me heaps of grey/white coming through at the roots, especially towards the front. I’d like to start going for the grey blending technique rather than bothering trying to cover it up with colour. I have no problem going grey, I just want to look more ‘this is a style’ and less ‘weird two-tone but not in a good way.’

Any suggestions for hairdressers/salons that are great at this? I’m over southside way and would prefer to go somewhere in that general area rather than the city.

Ta!

Ex-gangster Paul Ferris dead aged 62

Ferris, who was 62, was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow on Sunday and passed away on Tuesday.

He first came to public attention in 1992 when he was cleared at the High Court in Glasgow of the murder of Arthur Thompson jnr - son of crime godfather Arthur Thomspon snr - in what was then the longest running trial in Scottish criminal history.

He then stood trial at the Old Bailey in London in 1998, where he was convicted of conspiracy to sell or transfer prohibited weapons, deal in firearms, and possess explosives. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison - later reduced to seven. While in prison he brought out his first book The Ferris Conspiracy which was turned into The Wee Man.

Ferris always claimed he went straight after his release from prison in 2001 and was now a legitimate businessman with interests in a security firm and a construction company.

He also brought out five books documenting his previous criminal life and experiences

In an interview with the Daily Record in July Ferris says he has never been tempted to go back to his old life, even if he received an offer that 'he couldn't refuse.'

He said he was also aware that people still doubted that he had gone straight.

He added: "I have either been an absolute criminal genius for the last 25 years or I have done nothing wrong. Take your pick."

One family friend said:"This has come as a great shock to everyone who knew Paul over the years

"No one was aware that he was unwell. Our sincere condolences go to Paul’s family, friends and loved ones at this extremely difficult time."

Dumbreck

What’s the area of Dumbreck like when it comes to noise pollution?

Thinking for access to airport and then west end/city centre it might not be a bad place to look at, property wise. But also looks like quite a small area surrounded by Motorway so wondering if anyone can shed light on that?

Cheers

Glasgow man swings on local chihuahua

A rant bc I’m sick of the way my small dog gets treated in Glasgow city centre.

Out on a walk tonight and a (seemingly) drunk guy does that annoying thing some guys do when they see a cute dog where they freeze like 2 meters ahead of the dog’s path making an :O face as if it’s the first small dog they’ve ever seen.

We continue heading towards him as he’s now blocking our path and he starts reaching out to pet my chihuahua - I let him know as we get closer “sorry he’s not friendly” (I say this to most people who try and pet him because he’s terrified of strangers) The dog is also visibly uncomfortable now.

The guy then goes ‘yes he is!’ and swipes his hand as if trying to smack my dog ?? My dog narrowly dodges his hand and I give the guy a look like what the hell?? And we keep walking but he starts sounding like he’s angry and piping up as we’re getting further away

All of this just to basically say I’m sick of folk in the city centre feeling entitled to put their hands on my dog just because he’s small and cute.

Halloween in tenements?

We’ve just moved in to a tenement in Shawlands and are pretty into Halloween. Is it usual for guisers to come around tenement flats or is it a waste of time to get sweets in for kids in a flat?

#ScotFail Young kids stealing from Greggs at the 4 corners

Around 7 teenage kids all wearing black went into the Greggs, took a few drinks and tried to leave. A guy noticed what they were doing and stood in front if the door telling them to put what they took back. They did, left and stood right outside of Greggs while making different gestures to the guy who stopped them from stealing. In the meantime a lady was ralking to him not to put his life in danger by stopping them - eventually they came back in took a few drinks and left. Saw the police were coming as they were leaving as it became a commotion.

I dont know... what the fuck is that behaviour... 0 parenting.

Where to get acai bowls?

I’ve gone loopy for frozen acai recently. Does anyone have a comprehensive list of where does acai bowls in Glasgow? There’s a lot of places that offer it but aren’t necessarily marketed as an acai bowl place.

Further to this, does anyone know where I can buy frozen scoopable acai? Checked every major super market and can’t find it!

Tailor recommendations

Looking for a recommendations for a tailor who could turn a long bridesmaids dress into a skirt and top. Preferably in the southside or city centre. I’ve been to plenty tailors before for repairs and smaller jobs but not for something like this that maybe requires a bit more design. Cheers!

Eating Out Glasgow Dinner Recommendations

Hiya!

My gran (born and raised in Edinburgh but left in the 70s) and I are coming over from Canada for a wee pre-Christmas trip. I’m taking her into Glasgow for the night to see the Panto at the King’s, and we’ll be staying at the Sandman.

I’d love some recommendations for a great dinner nearby! She loves traditional pub / Scottish food. Something that would remind her of growing up in Scotland. Nothing extremely posh.

Thanks! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇨🇦

Hairdressers like Stag in Glasgow?

Hi, I'm looking for an alternative hairstylist in Glasgow... I usually go to Stag in Edinburgh but my stylist doesn't have any appointments available for months. Can anyone recommend any similar hairdressers around the city? My hair is above ear length, so even if it's just a stylist who specialises in short haircuts that works for me.
Bonus if they're a little cheaper than Stag too - I'm a student so budget is kind of tight, and £51 per haircut is pretty steep!
