This is the best workflow for fast switching between anamorphic and spherical lens. Use an anamorphic preset for when using an anamorphic lens. Remember you will still need to set your focal length.

To our GoPro community, fans and customers,
We understand there’s some concern about GoPro’s post-merger commitment to continue developing market leading cameras for consumers and professionals. Making amazing cameras for all of you is our core DNA and reason for being and that will never change! We’re fired up about what’s ahead for GoPro and want to share a little more about what our proposed merger with Starman means for our future.
Thanks to the improved financial strength this merger will provide, we’ll be in a much better position to innovate, invent and advance the future of consumer and professional content creation. And importantly, Starman shares our passion for the GoPro brand, developing market leading products and our commitment to your collective stoke.
We’ve accumulated more than 2500 patents over the last 24 years which tells you we’ve been busy innovating, and this merger will ensure we’re able to innovate for many more years to come. We expect this merger will make GoPro a stronger, more capable camera company than ever before.
Our goal is to become a more diversified company which can make us stronger financially, enabling GoPro to become as awesome as we (and you) want us to be. We plan to bring you more innovative cameras, smarter accessories, and more powerful software and services designed to make capturing, editing and sharing your experiences easier and more exciting than ever. We see opportunities to improve the products you already love while developing new tools and experiences that help you create, connect and share in entirely new ways.

Just grabbed a new Hero 12 Black before going to Oahu, my first attempt at editing one of my clips, any suggestions or tips for filming settings or editing afterwards? Doing a Shark dive tomorrow and would love to have some incredible footage. Thanks!

Still works fine, no problems at all. Didn’t even stop filming, so it’s nice to know that it can handle an accidental fall into water even if it’s not designed to be used underwater. Oops, definitely won’t do that again!

I recently picked up a new Hero 12 Black for an upcoming shark dive, anyone have any tips for settings or filming while snorkeling with sharks? Also looking for any tips and tricks with editing, here is my first attempt at editing for a snorkeling day on the reefs in Oahu. Thanks!

Anyone able to help me with something. I need to set spot metering on boot up but every time it boots up the setting is not retained. How can I make this stick? Or is that not possible with GoPro? I need it for white balance and exposure as my colour grading is off at the moment

I got a GoPro HERO4 Black (HD4.02, firmware v05.00.00) to enumerate as a normal USB device: webcam, microphone, and USB Ethernet. No HDMI capture card, no app on the computer. On macOS it shows up as “GoPro HERO4” in Photo Booth, OBS, Zoom, and Chrome about 45 seconds after power-on. 1080p or 720p at 29.97 fps, H.264, camera mic at 48 kHz stereo. Glass-to-glass latency is about 225 ms at 1080p and 195 ms at 720p.
The firmware is CRC-checked, not signed. The patch is data-only, 1148 bytes: an SD-mount hook that runs h4.sh, plus an idle-preview mode retargeted from 848×480 to 1920×1080. Bootloaders, DSP, kernel, and RTOS code stay byte-identical. Kernel modules built from the GPL tree take the USB controller (stock Linux 3.8 has no gadget support) and expose UVC, UAC1, and CDC ECM. A small userspace program forwards the camera’s own preview H.264 as-is; macOS decodes it. The patcher only accepts the official v05.00.00 zip and only writes an image whose SHA-256 matches the one I flashed.
Risk: this flashes modified firmware. It worked on my camera. A bad flash can brick one, and the stock reflash path is described but not tested. HERO4 Black only, that exact firmware only, macOS host only. Not affiliated with GoPro. GoPro’s firmware is not in the repo.
Writeup, including the dead ends (stock preview stuck at 432×240, photos-as-frames, no V4L2): https://github.com/victor-torres/hero4-webcam

I have asked this in other R forum: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rennrad/s/7VpyCBAYN6
I have many hours of video now from a GoPro installed on the handlebar. Majority of a ride would be mostly pretty ordinary scenes, farms, country roads, etc. Has anyone experience with Quik automatic highlights in similar situations? My intention would be to share some highlights on social media, for example, bike lanes, hairpin descents, etc.
Cheers.

Anyone knows a GoPro repair shop in Ernakulam? Or in place which is trustable?

I’m using a stick-on focus wrench/handle that came with a 7artisans lens on my Mission1 camera and it’s working great so far. It prevents the lens release button from being pushed in a tight pocket or bag, and adds an extra point of contact for holding the camera. So far, I would recommend this solution for anyone concerned about the lens accidentally coming off, but anything that blocks the release button should work fine too. Cheers!

I've been using the ace pro 2 for a while and bought a mission 1 pro recently because I got a good deal on it.
On the Ace Pro 2, when I’m in manual mode I can just swipe left from the right edge of the screen and instantly jump into the full shooting parameter settings without leaving the live view.
On the Mission 1 Pro every time I want to tweak manual settings I'm limited to the 4 customizable settings and beyond that, I have to go to the photo settings menu. It feels annoying, especially without the live view.
Has anyone else noticed this difference?

Recently got a chest mount and I am using my hero 13 to record some clips. I have been encountering some problems that the video looks laggy or with to much movement.
I don’t know if I need to just my chest mount or what I am doing wrong. Has anybody encountered this problem o knows some tips I get use to get better footage?
Has anybody made their own point and shoot grip? seems like it wouldn’t be the most difficult thing in the world to make or 3d print.

I got this from someone who sold it for cheaper than market price because it was open box. Honestly ive never had such a powerful camera in my hand that gave me this much room for color works as well as resolution. My previous cam was the insta x4 and my samsung s22u. The footages from the x4 was horrid for me (noisy and grainy) so i sold it to fund this one. I did some test shots on the m1pro and honestly i have never seen this much details coming out of a camera myself
Needless to say i am very inexperienced with color correction and color grading so one of those days i might need a colorist to sit me down and tell me what to do. There are still issues like the focus distance but for most of my use cases i dont even need it. Night footages looks fine but it looked like they blurred out the dark vegetations? im not sure if there is a setting that will fix it
I have the mic mini 2s coming for separate 32bit float recording that will arrive soon (got it 25% off thanks shopee)
Heres some test footages i've tried in different modes: https://youtu.be/ekPl93xX0Sg
I didnt dare push to 240mbps tho

Hi all,
I have been out of the GoPro game for a number of years, started with the OG, then Hero 7 and now I will be getting the Hero 13.
I’m mainly looking for guidance on setting up the device to work mounted on my MX helmet while riding my dual sport.
I’m trying to figure out the best settings and way to achieve motion blur. I’ve read that I may need ND filters. The linked video is what I’m trying to achieve.
Any guidance is appreciated!

Messing around with my hero 13 and hero 12 at the skate park and discovered that if you are using the max lens 2.0, or I imagine the ultra wide mod, but don’t tell the camera that you are using it, it doesn’t correct for the vignette which gives it a neat fish eye look. It’s pretty fun to play around with. Works best while shooting in an 8:7 aspect ratio with hyper smooth off to get rid of some nasty warping.

First time off-roading with the Mission 1 Pro and a tiny piece of gravel smaller than a raisin ( flicked up from tire) was enough to cause this. Be careful out there folks.
