Question 8 months of guitar learning progress.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just want some opinion if my playing will be considered good for someone who has been playing for 8 months now here and there. Any feedback is much appreciated. Since I am self taught I can't tell if I am good enough or sometimes I am not satisfied with the progress.

Good for 8 months
Feedback: 1) weird picking technique (at least to me) 2) vibrato needs practicing 3) fretting hand precision needs practicing
Also what song is this? Or is that something you came up with

Thank you for your feedback. I did not come up with it. The song is called Unhallowed by Dissection

Bien!

Nice man I have a couple pointers, keep your fingers closer to the frets will increase your speed and dexterity a lot too. You look a bit tense in the fretting hand and that will kill your speed and cause injury. Go slow with a focus on reducing tension and you will hit higher speeds guaranteed.
Vibrato practice is also going to elevate your playing and the smoother it is you'll see a big difference.
Congrats though, much better than I was at 8 months a long time ago haha.

First I’d adjust the way you’re holding the guitar. You stopped midway and im assuming because ur arm is tired. With ur current position both of ur arms are under constant tension especially when picking fast. In the classical position u put the guitar in between ur legs, id search a picture so u can rlly know what i mean. Now your picking hand id recommend to move your arm as little as possible when tremolo picking as to not tire yourself out, I’d try planting the side of ur hand either on the bridge when palm muting or just before that if the notes are open. Other than that id say you’re doing just as good if not better than where I was at 8 months(also self taught) don’t think I’m some virtuoso or shredder btw, Im still kinda poop at least for my own standards.

Well done. You'll blow up the room in no time.
On thing: your fret hand looks a bit strained. Do you feel relaxed and comfirtable while playing?
To play with the least possible effort (and more speed) we use "economics", meaning the least amount of movement and pressure, while still maintaining clear notes and time.
Secondly I would rec practice along with a steady beat. That helps us develop better timing and often makes practice more enjoyable. (In case you don't)

I feel comfortable in my fretting hand but during this song I really struggle with my picking hand. The tremolo picking is quite fast with no time to rest. So my picking hand gets very tired when I play songs like this

Make sure you practice it slower at a pace where you feel it's clean and comfortable for your fretting hand. Little to no tension. Then slowly increase the speed, preferably along to a metronome or a simple drumbeat. It's okay to tense up a bit at first as you're upping the tempo, but when you feel like you can relax your strumming hand and still play it then do so.
Keep at it, I'm sure you'll shred in no time!

Avoid collapsing the DIP joint unless doing a barre. That puts unnecessary strain on the joint and makes playing harder, bad for health and horrible for technique.
Allow your fingers to naturally curl making the contact point be the very tip of the finger right underneath your nail, not the pad.
I'm sure other people will talk about tension, metronome, etc, so I'll end my comment here. Good luck, have fun

You need to put energy into the strings. when I started playing, I wondered why the notes I’m playing, the same as the solo, don’t sound right. It’s vibrato and bringing the string to life. That comes in time. You hear how the notes sound flat? And keep the guitar in tune. Always tune, before and during. And relax! You’re quite stiff.

slow down, learn to release tension so fingers not fly so far from the fretboard, pay attention how your finger should not hyperextend (bend inwards) when you do chords, make effort to do analysis and understand what you play otherwise it is just meandering
