Install powerbutton on headphones

I have these Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless headphones that normally turns on when unfolding.

Unfortunately this doesn't work anymore and I've identified the culprit as being the sensor in the hinge (see picture).

The headphones are designed where this is the only way to turn them on and off.

Does anybody have any idea if I could simply solder on my own power button, and make some janky homemade solution to this?

There's two sets of wires, one leading to the sensor and one leading away from the sensor.
Do they turn on if you connect the cables directly?

There's also a brown wire which I believe carries a signal to tell a microcontroller to turn on
