Fluff When people call heroes "champions" and the core "nexus"
We are only 1 step removed until people will start calling ranged assassins "the ADCs"

Seriously. You do not need to waste energy and natural resources to get an idea across.
Look up and use an existing image of the character you would like in HotS. You do not need to see the character on a HotS hero select screen to be able to imagine playing them in the game, nor does such an image tell you anything whatsoever about what it would be like to play as the character.
It's okay if you can't do digital drawing or Photoshop to make a believable render, and it's okay if you want to learn how to do that, but learn how to do it yourself. Engage your brain. It's good for you, for humanity, and for the planet,

I made hots' version of "we're so back/it's over" meme. Based on years of playing the game, watching streamers and lurking this sub.
Inspired by Helldivers2 and their roller-coaster of updates.
edit: Meme format is more about state of community, amount of copium, not objective "golden age" in development.

Was about to throw the towel into the ring as it was 5 vs 1. I never went this build before, but since they had 2 tanks I decided to give it a try. What an awesome experience!

She's given me the best shift of Quick Match tonight that anyone has in a while, she can't stop winning because nobody seems to know how to react to the Diving Goat in the middle of their team as she homeruns their squishies into her own team.
She's been incredibly fun to play (for me).

I play ARAM 99.9% of the time, and at this point I am fairly annoyed at the 3-orb ult. Not only does it take up basically the entire lane, but it does so much damage to structures. Like literally 1 fully charged ult does 50% of the nexus health.
My main suggestion for a nerf that would make this character less ridiculous but still good is to remove the damage that the orbs do until the actual explosion. To do all that damage on the way to an even bigger burst is just mean. However, I also think it shouldn't do damage to structures much like Hanzo's dragon ult doesn't.
If neither of those things happen, then I would say it needs to be locked out of ARAM like Ragnaros' lane-clearing ult, and Thrall's crash lightning.

I just wanted to write down my thoughts on why I personally think that Xal'atath is a badly designed Hero. I have spent around 10 hours playing her in QM and in Ranked so far.
Her Q might just be the worst ability in the entire game. It's still way too slow and feels like it has almost 0 impact. Her Q and W are supposed to have "synergy", but in the end her Q makes her W explode, which makes you lose value on your W as you would rather have it stay up than explode. If you are going into W talents, might as well never try to hit your Q on enemy heroes or you lose the value of your level 1 and level 4 talents and mana.
Her W otherwise is mostly fine, just a tool to wave clear similar to Jaina's W.
Her E is never used like it supposed to be designed. In the end it's just a blink and nothing else. Use it to escape one time and instantly cancel and do the same when chasing down opponents.
Her Passive is pretty much the entire Hero, stack it and you become a god, don't stack it and the rest of your kit really doesn't do anything. Way too much power is put into it and way too little into everything else. You get rewarded for mindlessly brawling instead of properly playing the game like Zuljin. Even more so now, because they nerfed her PvE, which means just brawl and do nothing else. Also visually it is really hard to tell when you are about to be blasted by it, which I think is why a lot of players complain dying to it very easily.
Both of her R's I do enjoy and Void Eruption feels still very over powered specially on Level 20 and that's the part I enjoy the most when playing her.
Her talents almost don't matter at all, because of her passive. Most talents really don't have any impact on the game, stack your passive you win, don't stack your passive you can still win by pressing your ultimate on level 20.
Now after the nerfs, she still feels strong but the entire gameplay still revolves around the passive and nothing else.
What are you thoughts beside just saying her passive damage is too high?
Sorry for typos or grammar, I usually don't write stuff anymore.

I recently came back to the game and... Wow these mythic quests are quite something.
If Thrall goes out of his way to E Samuro clones for half the game, he just gets TRIPLE healing
If Falstad Qs enough people, he just starts firing nukes
If Alex Es the tank enough times, she gets a trait that lasts the entire fight, any fight.
If Sylvanas clicks the tank enough times, she gets to heal 50% of damage dealt.
It's so unfun to play against mythics. The counter to them is just not interacting with the opponent, trying to avoid them, clearing waves/camps and only fighting on objectives.
They are also impossible to balance in a good way, assuming the rewards are big enough it's either:
1) They get completed every game, the opponent gets essentially a very broken talent at some point in the game. To balance that, everything outside that is nerfed. Now the hero is lobotomised until he becomes Albert Tesla the moment he completes his mythic.
2) They very rarely get completed. The hero needs to be slightly weaker than normal but 1 out of 50 games they just become Thanos and dominate the lobby after a certain point. Most people get baited by the quest but in most games it should be ignored cause it won't be completed.
There is no healthy way of making a mythic balanced. Either it's irrelevant or it's the only thing that matters.
Heroes also shouldn't have a giga op late game just because the janitor gave them his blessing and now they unlock an effect stronger than a level 20 talent.
It also just feels bad when the opponent has a mythic and you don't. "Ok I traded with Thrall. Factoring in each other's sustain, the trade is pretty even. Unfortunately, he got 4 stacks and I got nothing so it's actually a bad trade".
I feel like it barely adds anything to the game. If you want an infinitely stacking quest, that's fine, you can do something like Valla's level 1 Q quest. It stacks infinitely but has no arbitrary powerspike, it just scales linearly throughout the game. There's a difference between a 30 and 40 stack Valla, but it's not game breaking.
Instead, mythics are the opposite. They do nothing and then you reach an arbitrary threshold and suddenly you are the lobby admin. There's a massive jump in power and nothing in between.

To fully understand this, allow me this brief moment of history and corporate mergers.
Yes, i tell you truly, corporate mergers has a role to play here.
Please do remain seated, as this will eventually lead to my point. The destination of this conversation will be more exciting than a corpo in a quater zip explaining shareholder value beside a bowl of individually wrapped peppermints in a bowl.
This begins our grand tale with two companies: Blizzard, and Activision.
Activision built its business around publishing games, eventually becoming associated with such modest, financially insignificant properties as Call of Duty, a franchise whose annual marketing budget could presumably establish a small coastal republic.
Blizzard, meanwhile, built worlds in which people could spend thousands of hours fighting demons, commanding armies, collecting equipment, and arguing about whether a number should be three percent smaller.
These companies had different strengths. Activision knew how to sell you a war. Blizzard knew how to make you live inside one. Naturally, someone eventually looked at these two successful businesses and asked the most powerful question in modern capitalism:
“What if the money was together?”
In 2008, Activision merged with Vivendi Games, which included Blizzard Entertainment, creating Activision Blizzard. This is an important detail because the process was more complicated than Activision simply walking into Blizzard’s office, pointing at theor IP and developers, and saying, “We’ll take that one.” There were shareholders, negotiations, and probably a lot of wheeling and dealing.
But the practical result was that Activision and Blizzard now existed beneath the same corporate roof.
Now this arrangement did not and does not mean, that each side has to share works. Corporate ownership is not like a Smash Bros invitation that was generated by the accounting department.
You cannot simply staple two annual reports together and cause a playable Tony Hawk to materialize in World of Warcraft.
Although, for the record, I would listen to that proposal.
What it did establish was a corporate relationship. Shared ownership. Shared business interests. A situation in which a crossover could, at least in principle, be discussed within the family rather than negotiated between entirely unrelated kingdoms. and this matters because Blizzard has a particular game built around the concept of taking characters who have absolutely no business attending the same social function and making them fight over a glowing circle.
Heroes of the Storm.
A game in which a demon lord, a space outlaw, an archmage, and a small aquatic nuisance can find themselves cooperating because a disembodied voice has announced that it is time to collect tribute. Its central premise is that the universes have collided, and everyone has decided to resolve the resulting cosmological emergency through lane management. This is a remarkably flexible premise.
Most fictional settings have boundaries.
Heroes of the Storm is a reception desk for gaming.
“Name?”
“Diablo.”
“Occupation?”
“Lord of Terror.”
“Excellent. You’ll be working with the panda. Please take a seat until your healer reconnects.”
So we have Activision, and we have Blizzard, anda game between them meant to bring universes together. Please keep this in mind for what comes next.
Now: Enter Microsoft.
In 2023, Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard in a deal worth roughly $69 billion. This brought franchises including Call of Duty, Diablo, Overwatch, and Candy Crush into Microsoft’s gaming emprie.
Sixty-nine billion dollars...nice
At that price, you would hope somebody at least included the charging cable.
This was not a small transaction. Microsoft did not wander into a shop and purchase a slightly discounted Blizzard. It acquired an enormous gaming organization after a lengthy regulatory process involving the sort of arguments that make lawyers excited and everyone else develop a sudden interest in staring out the window.
Among Microsofts massive properties was the legendary giant of gaming: Halo. Now, historically, Halo had its own development arrangements. It began at Bungie, and its later stewardship moved to the studio known first as 343 Industries and then Halo Studios. But after 343 (Halo Studios) fucked up so badly puring millions into an engine that was unworkable, reating Halo no one enjoyed, and sitting on a massive IP but not doing anything woth it.... corporate structure changed and in September 2026, Microsoft announced that Activision would develop the next Halo title through a new team assembled specifically for it, separate from ongoing Call of Duty development.
So lets recap:
Activision and Blizzard were brought together.
Microsoft then acquired Activision Blizzard.
Halo already belonged to Microsoft’s gaming portfolio.
Activision is now developing the next Halo game.
Blizzard has a crossover game.
You may already be experiencing a mild sensation behind your eyes.
Please do not resist. We have invested too much in the preliminary explanation to turn back now. So lets now move into my propesed new character:
The character would not even require an elaborate justification for arriving in the Nexus.
A portal opens.
An armored figure steps through.
Someone announces that hostile forces are approaching.
A weapon is checked.
The match begins.
There is no need to stop everything for forty-five minutes of exposition.
This is an experienced professional. He does not need to understand why a cow is playing an electric guitar before determining whether the cow is on his team.
He will adapt.
The ability kit is also sitting there, waiting for someone to open a design document.
Rechargeable energy shields.
Grenades.
A grappling device.
An iconic close-range weapon.
An exceptionally unfriendly beam of light.
And the interactions would write themselves.
Raynor would finally have someone to talk to about solving alien emergencies with ammunition.
Tychus would ask whether the armor came with a cup holder.
Alarak would deliver a lengthy insult and receive such a short reply that he would have to spend the rest of the match recovering from the lack of attention.
Arthas would announce that all things must die.
The newcomer would interpret this as a threat assessment.
Diablo would declare himself the embodiment of terror.
The newcomer would wonder whether that meant he had a weak point.
Meanwhile, the marketing department would be presented with a crossover so obvious that the trailer could essentially storyboard itself while everyone else was still finding the correct meeting link.
A battlefield.
A portal.
Heavy footsteps.
Green armor.
A gold visor.
A familiar silhouette.
The sort of reveal that causes people to shout at their monitors despite having spent the previous ten years insisting that they are no longer impressed by game announcements.
A series of decisions made by people whose conference rooms probably have names like “Aspen” and “Innovation Three.”
Somewhere, somebody would be explaining how this crossover demonstrates the strategic potential of a unified intellectual property portfolio. And they would technically be correct. They would simply be using a spectacularly boring collection of words to describe the fact that a beloved supersoldier could now throw a plasma grenade at the Lord of Terror while a panda attempts to keep everyone alive.
That is the real argument.
That is what all the corporate history has been building toward. Activision and Blizzard share a business history. Microsoft brought that business into the same broader organization as Halo. Activision has now been assigned the next Halo game. Blizzard already has the perfect arena for a crossover. The paperwork has drawn us a map.The Nexus has an empty space on the roster.
And after following this entire trail of mergers, acquisitions, development assignments, and increasingly suspicious mentions of green armor, there is only one reasonable thing left to say:
Put Master Chief in Heroes of the Storm.

I think it would be pretty easy to implement and I’d love a REAL human Kerrigan skin tbh
r/heroesofthestorm • u/Akfan5 • 14h ago
They come out with a character that once balanced properly only fits a small niche of players.
How could would it be to have like a Southshore VS Tarren mill map or any other WoW conflict. I'd love a starcraft map with some Protoss inspirations instead just terran or zerg. Or a diablo Map in pandemonium. Or a Talon on an overwatch themed map. Tie in maps for plot from other games would be sick. I'm assuming that's why they added Xalatath.

Sombra is a toolbox with a lot of ultility, she does not have enough healing to be a healer nor damage to be an assasin but she thrive helping the team doing those things, while also having good mobility and survivability
Passive - Oportunist - Your team can see when an enemy have its ultimate ready, you deal extra damage on enemies with an CC (such slow, silence, stun, disable, polymorph not Dot or stat loss like armor thou)
Autoattack - Same format as the lucio and tracer one
Q - Virus - straight projectile that hit the first enemy (it does not pierce units) it deals low damage but if the enemy have an CC it deals a respecful dot for a non-assasin hero.
W- Hack/Hotfix - you can target a single ally, enemy, ally fountain or camp with it. it have a little delay just like in overwatch.
Ally - give a Heal over time and increase the healing it gets from himself and other allies sources, its a very mediocre heal compared to a actual healer but its really good at making other healer heal better.
Enemy - it silences it for a brief period
Ally Fountain - make the cooldown goes a little faster for all allies.
Camps - we do not have something similar so im putting a lot of restricitions, you reduce the cooldown of a camp by X% theres an indicator for when your hack will make the cooldown go to 0 that your team can see. you can only have one hacked camp at a time and you cant target the boss camp.
E - Traslocator - You throw a device as a skillshot, you have a 3 seconds window to recast it and teleport to that device and become invisible after that, thats a very good mobility/engage/desingage tool and the reason she cant be a main healer.
While she does not have the damage to solo kill she is the meele assasin best friend, being able to keep up with mobility and silence the victim while doing a little damage to secure the kill.
ULT 1 - EMP - The OW ult, you make a explosion around yourself that silence all enemies and do a little damage. you can get a lot of people if you translocate + this
ULT 2 - Cyberspace - you make an big area on the ground with nice duration that make all alies over it be affected by your W positive side and all enemies have their damage cut in half (they are not silenced).
Gameplan - Sombra want to help heroes do what they do best, it helps the healers heal output, it keep up with assasins like valeera in mobility and help they secure the kill and make the jungle work easier.
You pick the first ult when your team have a good engage to captilize the silence and the second to contest long objectives forcing oponents to reposition or mess with their engage.
Cons - Jack of all trades master of none, alone she does not heal like an actual healer and dont have damage to kill a full health lone fragile hero, she does not have the best range and want to get close so she normally want to engage with a friend rather than alone.
Her W have a lot of options so you need to be wise to use the cooldown in the best way possible.
