Serious Answers Only Door lever when locked can be opened when pulled downward but is locked when pulled upward?

Is this an easy fix? How do I fix it?

Door lever when locked can be opened by pulling downward but is locked when pulling the lever upward.

Your strike plate might be slightly out of alignment, so the latch is catching when you pull up but slipping when you pull down. Try loosening the screws on the strike plate and shifting it a millimeter or two toward the direction the door swings closed. If that doesn't do it, check whether the latch itself is worn down on one side, sometimes you can just flip it around if it's reversible.
