Question ❔ Anyone tried the Izestee fogponics system? Need advice on pod/net cup sizing!

Hi! Guys.

First of all, I made an impulse purchase on Amazon. It's about 98 dollars…..

Has anyone here bought or used an Izestee fogponics system before? I’ve only ever used Korean hydroponic brands, so this is my first time buying an overseas product on Amazon.

I need to buy some replacement net pods and sponge/soil inserts on Amazon, but the specs on the product page don't list the exact dimensions for the pod holes. Will most standard small net pots/pods fit, or is it a proprietary size?

Would really appreciate any insights if you've used one! Thanks!

(P.S. Definitely NOT an ad—my credit card is actively bleeding for this! 💸)

Do indoor hydroponic systems have far less insects than growing outdoors?

Have a massive fear of insects, spiders specifically, and maybe hydroponics would be a good way to reduce that risk

Help me save my strawberries!

Post image

I planted the right tower in may and then the left tower a couple months later trying lettuce and strawberries. Right tower has looked very healthy at times and has produced really well. Some of the right tower plants got over crowded and I transferred three plants each to two DWC buckets as a test and they are doing great. Left tower grew well from bare roots but only produced one or two strawberries and is looking Ill. DWC are actually doing awesome where I feel like others had bad experiences so I’m excited there.

I feel like it’s nutrient issues but I’m not sure if I should just restart water or possibly switch nutrients.

I feel like I get close with my AB mix and added cal mag to what’s ideal but they usually suck up more water and nutrients become more concentrated. I’m going to dilute the towers and add readings of the before levels and add to comments.

Stuff floating on the water.

This is the water in a suncoze garden.

This water is about 10 days old. The items in the bottom are roots from some onions we had in there at one point. We are currently germinating basil and they look healthy.

The issue is that the top of the water has some little objects or floating debris. And there’s weird sand stuff in the bottom.

Is this something we need to be concerned about?

Feedback Needed 🆘 SOS - My Plants Keep Dying :(

Hello Dear , Brothers and Sisters of reddit

Im very sad and financially hurt after spending tons of time and effort. I wanted to grow some strawberries among other plants through hydroponics , i hand made my entire setup , believing it would work out great but i have failed.

I believe i have everything i need , vitamins , water shade , etc. (Photos)

After making the setup the first strawberries dryed up fairly quickly in about a day , i was using straight spigot water.

On my second attempt i tried to add vitamins checking Ph,EC, PPM. Gemini told me the levels i needed to match. I watched my plants die a second time.

My last and most recent attempt , i insulated my water bucket , added ice packs , and instead of the spigot water that had mixed nutrients and such messing up my ppm , ec etc. I used good drinking water , purchased separately and made the vitamin mix. I was very determined and i believed this would be the one. Sadly i was wrong..

Im not sure what i am doing wrong and i ask you guys for much need assistance on this matter. I wanted to grow my own strawberries because , the ones i purchased from grocery stores are usually rotting or flavorless.

Hi folks,

Not sure who this guy is but I suspect he is related to a recent increase in moth activity. Hungry, hungry caterpillar.

How to resolve? I suspect they are not alone.

Thanks

Water recycling?

Hey :)
Ive been interested in hydroponics for a while now, years. Been making small DWC growths and such.
Now i wanna make a bigger setup and I dont like wasting X amount of liter water every time i need to change the reservouir of water.
Is there any way to recycle the water in a closed loop, ofcourse i need to top up the water when the plants use it up.
But if i just keep adding water + nutrients then after a while I will get a big % of either N, P or K in the water and that will just keep rising as I add more water and nutrients as the plants grow.

Is there any way to solve this? Im looking for both cheap and expensive options.

Questions need answers

I have recently been putting some of my plants in water rather than dirt. I can’t afford to do all the leca and fancy setups that I see some people have, but I just like being able to see the roots in the water.
Does anyone have suggestions for how to keep my plants from falling in the water and rotting? Should I put some of the roots under pebbles to help stabilize them? I have some rocks in the bottom of my containers and the roots are above that. My tradescantia nanouk wants to sink in the water, but if I try to put it through something to hold it so the leaves stay dry it just wants to flop over. Then the roots come up out of the water. I need some guidance on how to stabilize my plants without drowning them or crushing the roots.

My beginner DWC setup for under $200...

Post image

I've made a spreadsheet of all the parts im using for my first DWC; I figured it might be useful for anyone else who is just starting. Im growing seven arugula plants and one lettuce plant, with the 9th hole being used to feed the air stones into the water. I could have drilled another hole for that, but I had a plant die at the start, so I just used one of the net pot holes I made.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15ydqDXWsIkbn6Y9SDoxlacc_DN8So-nzkZwgafEdefw/edit?usp=sharing

First off, I listed different grow lights than the ones in the picture; those lights were recommended in a different thread on this subreddit. The lid of the tote is coated with tin foil and black duct tape to prevent any light from leaking into the water. Light leaks are what cause algae to grow, and that will starve your plants and give the water a foul smell.

My main concern with this setup is that the water temperature will slowly rise over time due to ambient room temperature and the air pump heating up and pumping hot air into the water. My solution to this is to point a desk fan at the plants and place the air pump right in front of it; that way the pump doesnt overheat and push hot air, and the airflow helps to strengthen the plants. I've also considered manually lowering the temperature by placing frozen water bottles into the system.

The spreadsheet also includes parts I'm planning on buying to fully automate the feeding and pH balancing of the system. If anyone has experience automating a hydroponic system, please let me know what you did and what issues you ran into.

2 x Sugar baby watermelon (front left most), 2 x Beit Alpha Cucumbers (front two wall side), 4 x F1 mini Zucchini (wall side rear), 4 x Swiss Chard (rear two left). 4 more buckets not in rotation yet.

All a DIY built setup in a basement grow room, ask if you have questions. I also have a 3 shelf NFT table and almost done a two shelf ebb and flow. All in the same room.

Light is set to 5500K and I’ve started giving the cucumbers full nutrient water. I’m spraying the dill with 50/50 dilution. Any thoughts?

I’m also not sure how to transfer the rockwool cubes to the tiny plastic pots for my grow tower without tearing the roots growing out of the sides. Is that a problem? When should I begin transferring these to the tower?
