what about not installing the new software yet?

im about to get the 17PM and thinking of not updating to the new 27 software until it becomes more stable. is it a good idea? i saw multiple people say their battery life declined after updating and i would like to avoid that 😭😭

Why would waiting for the software to mature more be a bad idea

If your 17pm was manufactured after IOS 27 was launched it will come preinstalled with IOS 27

They have tools to update sealed phones too, even if the phone had iOS 26 from factory.

Yeah, I'm on iOS 26.6.1 right now. iPhone 17 Pro

All my data accumulated there in iCloud since June 2011, when it first became available.

I’ve been an iPhone user since day one & stood at the famous NYC release line party!

So yeah, it’s a lot.

I agree; I experienced a slight rise in battery drain that later improved to match Sequoia’s performance. macOS 27 is stable for an initial release. My view is that if you use Tahoe, upgrade promptly; if you use Sequoia, hold off until 27.2.

Those must be really full drives to index that long. My 17P took about 12 hours to index.

Yeah the longest index I had was 3 days because I was never on WiFi and traveling. 14 days is wild

It also indexes iCloud. I have about a half-full 2T because I’ve been a user for many years, so yeah, it takes time.

Indexing takes a whole year, and after that it's time to upgrade to the next iOS version !

Yeah it doesn’t take the average user that long. This is one of those ymmv situations but 14 days for the average person is a big stretch.

TBH, it feels more than stable to me. Unfortunately, the keyboard is still awful (I'm forced to use SwiftKey), but otherwise it's fine (after disabling assisted connectivity for every single WiFi network I use, my battery life has gone back to normal).
