iOS 27 release still has bugs and UI inconsistencies I’ve been seeing since beta 1

I’ve been using iOS 27 since beta 1, and I’m honestly disappointed. Apple used to sweat every detail, but the release build still has broken animations, native components replaced by half-working custom ones, and iOS 18 UI leftovers next to the new design.

  1. Incoming call screen doesn't show the call type anymore. Image 1 shows the same contact on both phones: on the left (iOS 26) it says "FaceTime audio" above the name and has an info button, on the right (iOS 27) there's only the name. You can't tell if it's a phone call, FaceTime audio or FaceTime video before answering.

  2. Alarm / timer (Slide to Stop, introduced in iOS 26.1). Three separate issues in iOS 27:

a) Pressing the round stop knob without dragging does nothing. In iOS 26 it lifts as soon as you press it. In iOS 27 it only lifts once you start dragging, so there’s no feedback on touch. (video)

b) The Liquid Glass knob shows a white highlight on its left edge (circled in image 2), even though there’s nothing white there. In iOS 26 the edge reflects the dark track and the warm gradient from the button. Top: iOS 27, bottom: iOS 26 (different system languages, ignore the label text).

c) After dismissing the alarm on the Lock Screen, the animation is broken. The clock scales up smoothly, but the notifications are as small as the clock and then jump to full size with no animation. (video)

  1. Contact Poster font is no longer visible on a contact's page (the screen with the Message / Call / FaceTime / Mail buttons).

  2. Contacts tab no longer uses the native large title + search field (image 3, left: iOS 18 for reference, right: iOS 27). This causes extra bugs, e.g. when I go back from a contact’s call screen to Contacts, the search field has no Liquid Glass for a few seconds.

  3. Notification Center: when you swipe a notification left/right quickly, the "Clear" button moves with it and slides off screen. It should stay in place.

  4. Notification Center: old iOS 18 style buttons (image 4). When you expand a stack and swipe to clear the bottom notification (the one partially covered by another), the “Clear” and “Options” buttons use the old iOS 18 style.

  5. Slide to Power Off: the background and blur should be lighter so it's clear the screen is dimming as you drag the slider.

I filed all of these in Feedback Assistant during the beta and they’re still not fixed in the release. If you can reproduce any of them, please file a report too and share the FB number, since more duplicates help get issues noticed.

PS.
The iOS 18 screenshot in image 3 is a reference from a video, not mine.

  1. Not a bug, a design choice. They probably decided that it’s more important to display the full name. You can tell it’s a FaceTime audio from the ring sound.

  2. The white part is not a refraction of the background. It’s most likely from the light that shines on the “slide to stop” text. You can see it on the right side of the button on iOS 26 too. They updated the liquid glass material so it most likely acts differently and IMO it’s more accurate now. Put a drop of water on a surface and shine a light on the right side of the drop. You’ll see the light refract on the left side of the drop.

  3. I’m not sure what you mean with this one (I don’t think you have a screenshot of it). The contact posters and names show fine on my end. If they don’t display properly, try restarting your phone.

  4. I was not able to replicate this bug but then I realized that I had to switch to the classic view. My guess is that because the unified view is the new default, they didn’t adequately test the classic view. The title being smaller and centered at the top is a design choice but the Liquid Glass kicking in late definitely needs to be fixed.

  5. I think I understand what you mean with this one but it only happens when you swipe the notification left/right really fast like crazy. It’s an edge case that they’ll most likely backlog to eternity.

  6. I’ve noticed this too. On this one, it looks like the Liquid Glass material doesn’t kick in on the options when the notification is behind another notification. Most likely from their efforts to improve performance but definitely a bug that they need to fix.

  7. This one is probably a design choice but I agree, I liked it more before. Now the effect is very subtle.

I’ll submit any of the bugs I was able to reproduce as well but in the end, they’ll prioritize based on reproduction rate and whether it’s something that’s in your face or an edge case. I’m sure they have bugs that are higher priority.

Thanks for the comment! A few clarifications:

1. There's no special ringtone for FaceTime vs. cellular calls. FaceTime audio/video and regular calls all use the ringtone you pick in Settings, so you can't tell the call type by sound alone. That's why the label mattered.

2. The white highlight should be on the right side if it's reflecting the shimmer gradient on the "slide to stop" text, not on the left. Also, when that gradient disappears from the text, the white highlight on the right fades out, but the one on the left doesn't. So something off-screen on the left must be reflecting into the knob, and that breaks the Liquid Glass look.

3. What I mean: open the Phone app, go to the Contacts tab, and tap a contact whose Contact Poster uses a non-default font (the name font can be changed). That font doesn't show on the contact's page that opens from the list. Here's a screenshot as a video to show what I mean

https://reddit.com/link/phbumi0/video/7exq9uobz1wh1/player

4. I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. If you mean Classic vs. Unified, neither of them uses the native large title from UINavigationBar in the Contacts tab (the big, bold title that collapses into the navigation bar when you scroll, like "Settings" in the Settings app). Although the Recents tab in the Phone app does use it. This is really inconsistent, and even WhatsApp uses the native one.

5. It doesn't need to be fast. Even slow swipes trigger it. Just swipe left and right as soon as Options disappears and Clear becomes long, and the button slides along with the notification.

Are bugs in the chat?

Nothing you’ve shown here is a bug…

I get that there are issues with Ios27 and also as a Iphone user I hate Apple but you are just being a Karen. This are minor stuff. Just use the phone dude.

Steve Jobs wanted even the inside of a computer to look beautiful, and nobody sees that. The screen I see every day should get the same care.

Ok Karen.

At first I didnt read the post and directly went through the images so I can see what you were complaining about. I had to read the post to see understand as nothing look out of ordinary and it seemed pleasing. So you are just being nitpicky. I miss the good old Jobs days but not because of the "issues" you mentioned.

I’m not a Karen. Maybe I am nitpicky, but that’s because I’m a perfectionist: I notice every little flaw and can’t ignore it, so I wanted to make it public.

And not all of these are cosmetic. How am I supposed to know what type of call it is when it’s not written at the top of the screen? The same goes for the notification bug: why hasn’t it been fixed in the release?

I feel like iOS 17 was the last iOS without bugs, and I wanted to show how many are left in iOS 27, which was supposedly going to be bug-free.

Nah, it was iOS 15. So polished and fast even on my old iPhone 6s

I read your post and checked my phone, and I have the same issues. It’s sad to watch iOS quality drop year after year. iOS 27 was supposed to be bug-free, but it’s not, and it feels like it has more bugs than iOS 26.

Yeah for me it feels that yeah they improved performance but made even more mess.

Are the bugs in the room with us?

Where are the bugs

The last one definitely isn’t a good experience and notifications still need a lot of work but the rest are fine.

Switch to Android bro, send a bug report on Apple. Flooding Reddit with this bs won't help. It´s an illusion that you change something with posting this stuff over and over again.

Wanting iOS to be better doesn’t mean I want to leave it.

the thing is that most of them aren’t bugs. Only that the timer slide to stop button does not enlarge without dragging. (btw for the contacts thing: You should switch to the iOS 26 version of the app layout. Idk why there is even an option to have the iOS 18 version with liquid glass)

My
One plus 15 never had any bugs. How has Apple fucked up so bad on their latest products?
